Mrpq
While waiting on the exit ramp of superman tonight a thought crossed my mind.... How much heavier is a coaster train of the flying type vs a standard coaster train. I was looking at the train when it was in the station and there are ALOT of parts to these trains. Is this something that is known?
Matt Kaiser
Choose a standard train to compare it to I assume B&M floorless trains or hyper/giga trains would be the "standard"? Nitro1118
According to a GAdv physics workbook I found online, the weight of S:UF's tran is 5700kg compared to 2700kg for GL and Bizarro. Nitro actually has the lightest trains at 2100kg.
Mrpq
oh wow so almost double a "standard" lets call them sit down/ standing trains. I would assume Nitro to be the lightest due to the fact of no over the shoulder harnesses
Matt Kaiser
I'm suprised that GL is the same as Bizarro considering the extra trailing in front of each car, the much taller restraints, and all that extra restraint locking contraption. Yoshi
Maybe the extra row of seats on Bizarro balances it out?
Mrpq
maybe the lack of framing for an actual seat makes up for it
Viper26
If SUF has heavier trains, does that make flying coasters have a larger track than normal?
Mrpq
I was thinking that and looking but the track seemed to be the same. Also I would think it would need a heavier duty lift hill motor compared to a of a similar size
Pineracer
I like the beauty/designs of flyers and Flying Dutchmen's but I won't ride them
gasmspiritblue
Super, in fact does have the heaviest trains, same track design except for the pretzel loop where there is more stress on the bottom, thicker track.
