29yrswithaGApass
I've been hearing the new GA commercials on the radio for several weeks now, but last night I caught a TV ad for the first time this year. Needless to say, I miss the old style commercials that featured a Great Adventure theme song or even Mr Six with his little song and dance. The barking Asian "More Flags More Fun" head seems a little too annoying for me. I'll have to set the DVR to record Saturday Night Live so hopefully I can grab it during one of the commercial breaks. UPDATE: View the 2008 commercial by clicking the image below.
JetsDevs4Lyf
When I first saw one of the commercials a few weeks back I thought they were somewhat amusing, but after a few times of seeing them they really just seem odd and slightly stupid at this point. Up_Up_and_Away
Overall I really try to be pretty positive about stuff, but this ad campaign is downright sucky... :-\
JetsDevs4Lyf
It reminds me of something I might have found funnier when I was like in middle school
darkridedan
It was "More flats! More fun" until a typo forced them to change their itinerary. JUST KIDDING!
29yrswithaGApass
^ That would explain it !!!
CoasterPete
I always liked the commercial from a few years ago where a helicopter flew over Rolling Thunder and Medusa as they were cresting the lift hills. Mix with music clip shots of the rides it action, it made for a fun commercial that actually showed GA. Pete
The Master
SF's new mascot is lame, bring back Mr Six! He is much cooler than some shouting head in a pop up bubble.
29yrswithaGApass
The radio ad I have been hearing (the one were they are interviewing the politcal candidate) is sort of strange because he tells people to "stay home". Actually, he's saying stay home and print your tickets from there but at first it sounds kind of strange.
JetsDevs4Lyf
Haha the whole ad campaign is really whacked out. Although at least they didn't go with the dark evil commercials as Cheetos has recently done lol
darkridedan
I always liked the commercial from a few years ago where a helicopter flew over Rolling Thunder and Medusa as they were cresting the lift hills. Mix with music clip shots of the rides it action, it made for a fun commercial that actually showed GA. Pete I always though the RT part was cool since I was operating. Red Rocket and Blue Bomber & Yellow Lightnin' and The Green Tooth Bandit looked hot racing on those hills. ** In 2000, there was a short lived commercial with a cartoonish flight over the park. They had a cartoon Ferris Wheel and cartoon four tents, etc. Does anybody have this on tape? Edited April 21, 2008 by darkridedan
29yrswithaGApass
** In 2000, there was a short lived commercial with a cartoonish flight over the park. They had a cartoon Ferris Wheel and cartoon four tents, etc. Does anybody have this on tape? I remember that commercial! I still have tons of video tapes to go through but I've been very successful so far in finding a lot of Great Adventure treasures. I always liked when the park used cartoon graphics for advertising like to the print ad below:
The Master
That is a nice ad image. There's Condor, Shockwave, Splashdown, Looping Starship, Little Wheel, and the old Bugs Bunny Land arch.
JetsDevs4Lyf
Very nice ad image and in excellent condition considering how old it is based on the individual rides that it has listed in the artwork. Now if we could only repeat that 12 shows portion the park would feel more complete again
29yrswithaGApass
^ That was actually a full page newspaper ad. It took about eight scans stitched together to make that image. I was impressed with the way it turned out. By the way, does anyone have access to a large format scanner? If so, please PM me or email us at feedback@greatadventurehistory.com . Thanks! JetsDevs4Lyf
Oh ok...Sorry I can't be of much help on that one. Btw though that is a hell of a job you did there putting together and eight scan image that fluidly.
29yrswithaGApass
I was able to catch the 2008 More Flags More Fun Commercial. Click the image below to view it.
BuddyChrist
To be honest, I really can't stand these commercials. My parents told me that it's so obnoxious with the guy screaming "ONE FLAG" that they just change the channel. I never thought I'd say this, but I miss Mr. Six. The Master
Mr. Six was cool, bring him back!
JetsDevs4Lyf
I liked him and the commercials they had him in, especially compared to what we are getting now. I can tolerate looking at the new stuff but actually find myself muting the commercials to avoid hearing the more flags more fun guy talk. coasterloverx13
i don't mean to be negative but i despise this new commercial if they want to get people in i suggest they dont have someone screaming at them to have fun bring back mr. six (old guy) he was one of the best things they ever did. JetsDevs4Lyf
I miss hearing that jingle when checking out the main page for the site! It was very catchy and I found myself humming it at work haha
