Railer
I was wondering if anyone out there has any pics. of this old show. His stage was back by the old IMAX style theater. (same spot as Blackbeard's TT) Growing up as a kid I loved this show. I believe he heckled the crowd and was pretty funny, for back then anyway. 29yrswithaGApass
That show was pretty funny. He always managed to find someone in the audience to make some wisecrack remarks about and insult. The theater was just a little further up the Lakefront on the current site of the Fantasy Fling. It was very popular- even with guests having to sit on halved logs to enjoy it! Railer
Thank's for digging that up. That was a must see every visit to the park for me back then. I always thought the theater's back was up against the lake. That would put it in Buccaneer's spot as it's exact location, correct? And I remember beanbag chairs in there, before the logs. What year did they remove the theater?
29yrswithaGApass
The Adventure Theater (Cinema 180) was to the left of the Buccaneer on the current site of Black Beard's Lost Treasure Train. It had its back to the lake. Perthy P. Pellican was just across the walkway from the queue bars of the Buccaneer next to the restrooms. I don't recall beanbag chairs, but that would have been interesting. The small puppet theater was used for several different shows after PPP's removal including the Salty Dog puppet show in 1989, Dastardly Dragon show in 1990 (the theater was renovated to look like a castle), a Medicine Doctor show in 1992, and a slapstick fisherman themed show (Boy Buoy)in 1993, which was renamed Reel Time in 1994. The theater sat unused for several years until it was ultimately removed for the 1999 installation of the Spinnaker octopus-style ride. Railer
I could of sworn there was beanbag chairs in there at some point. I even remember sitting on the floor when they were all taken. The early ninety's I wasn't at the park that much. I just turned 21 and was a beach bum for a few years. That is an era of the park that I missed. So I lost track of thing's around that time.So it's a good thing for me you guys are here, I can fill in all the spaces.
JetsDevs4Lyf
Looks like an interesting show and one I probably would have appreciated had I checked it out, but alas it is also an attraction I did not have the fortune to experience. The Master
I remember seeing the later shows at the puppet theater, too bad GAdv does not have shows like that anymore.
Ol'FormerRideOp
I remember seeing the later shows at the puppet theater, too bad GAdv does not have shows like that anymore. The guy who WAS the voice of Perthy P. Pelican, was named Eric and he would sometimes need a security escort from the pupet theatre - usually due to some drunk guys fighting with a sarcastic puppet. He'd have to wait sometimes 30 minutes until he could leave safely! Would crack me up!!

He wouldn't just target those that would come see the show but also pick on the guests that would walk by the show too. Those are the ones that were usually quick to yell something back and then the fun would really begin!
kennybo
Perthy was very funny and pretty edgy for a family amusement park. I was a kid at that time and really liked him. He would definitely make fun of the way prople looked, dressed etc. He was like an old school comedian from the vaudeville days or something. I don't remmebr the bean bags but I do remember the logs. We would usually take a break from running around the park and watch the show. None of the shows that followed were ever as good as PPP.
