The 2020 Warner Awards Results

For categories where a voter selected "N/A - I don't have an opinion on this category," the results are based upon those votes actually cast for the given nominees.

 

The 2020 Warner Awards Results

Thank you to everyone who voted in our 2020 GreatAdventureHistory.com Warner Awards. There were some new categories this year and some categories where the votes were close. Here are the 2020 winners!

 

Wonder Woman Lasso of Truth the won the Best Ride (Non Roller Coaster) award for the second year in a row with 49% of the votes.  Justice League Battle for Metropolis (second place, 26%) and Zumanjaro: Drop of Doom (third place, 11%) switched places this year.

 

El Toro and Nitro again finished with the first and second place awards for the thirteenth straight awards in a row in the Best Roller Coaster category. El Toro had 57% of the votes and Nitro had 37% of the votes. Bizarro finished third with 6% of the votes.

 

Dare Devil Dive won Best Upcharge Ride or Attraction with 33%, Sling Shot and Great American Road Race tied each with 26%.

 

Great Adventure's Best Remaining Original Attraction from 1974 had Log Flume finishing first with 49% and Sky Ride finishing second with 31%. Runaway Mine Train and Giant Wheel (Big Wheel) tied for third with 9%.

 

For the third awards in a row, Justice League: Battle for Metropolis took first place in Best Themed Attraction with 83% of the votes. New second and third place winners this year were Kingda Ka with 11% and The Dark Knight with 6%.

 

Bizarro's themed sign was once again the top choice of voters for the eleventh consecutive awards in the Best Attraction Sign category with 43% of the votes. Kingda Ka remained in second with 29%. Cyborg Cyber Spin also remained in third place with 14%.

 

Nitro won Best Attraction to Ride at Night again with 63% of the votes. Three attractions tied for second place, Sky Ride, Sky Screamer and Wonder Woman Lasso of Truth each getting 9% of the votes.

 

There was a new winner for Best Children's Ride this year, Daffy Duck Hot Air Balloons (38%). Tornado won second place (33%). Air Safari and Wild E Coyote Canyon Blaster tied for third place (10% each).

 

The winner of the Best Themed Section was another category with a new winner this year. Golden Kingdom received 30% of the votes. Plaza Del Carnaval dropped to second place with 24% of the votes. Movie Town remained in third place with 15% of the votes.

 

Holiday in the Park continues to be one of the most popular events in the park winning Best Event again with 83% of the votes. Hallowfest got 20% and Holiday in the Park Drive-Thru Experience got 3%.

 

Lady of the Lake Cemetery and Wicked Woods tied for the win in the Best Hallowfest Attraction award each with 31%. Reflections of the Dead, Apocalypse and Mama's Farm all tied for third place with 13% each.

 

A Celebration of the Season (Christmas Tree Show) moved up from second place in Best Holiday in the Park Attraction to winning the category this year getting 30% of the votes. Holiday Fire Pits and Peppermint Path tied for second place each getting 15% of the votes.

 

In a category that was very close, Granny's Country Kitchen won again in Best Restaurant Food (with indoor seating) getting 28% of the votes. Mamma Flora's Cucina received 24% of the votes for second place and Chop Six remained in third place with 17% of the votes.

 

Johnny Rocket's (near Fountain) is a repeat winner in Best Food/Snack Stand with 37% of the votes.  Macho Nacho (near El Toro) took second place with 30% of the votes. For third place, it is G.A. Cafe getting 11% of the votes.

 

Johnny Rockets (73%) continues to be a favorite place in the park to eat and remained in first place for another year in Best Name Brand Food. Rita's Ice Custard (17%) remained in second place and Icee (10%) took third place.

 

Macho Nacho won Best Season Pass Dining Plan Facility getting 24% of the votes. Garden State Grill and Granny's Country Kitchen tied for second place each getting 16% of the votes.

 

Best Games Facility is another category with a repeat winner this year. Studio 28 Arcade won the award with 57%. Last year's second place finisher, Boardwalk Games, tied with Dream Street Games for second place each with 22%.

 

Three Point Challenge finished first in Best Game of Skill again with 48%, followed by Ladder Climb with 33% and High Striker with 19%.

 

The results for Best Shop were Main Street Market winning (67%), new for 2020 Six Flags Universe taking second (15%) and there was a tie for third with Coasters Candy and Gotham City Gift Shop (7% each).

 

There was a new winner in the Best Hurricane Harbor Attraction category with Tornado getting 33% of the votes. The Falls moved up from third place last year to second place this year getting 27% of the votes. Taak It Eez Ee Creek dropped to third place after winning the category last year getting 23% of the votes.

 

Wild Plains won the Best Wild Safari Drive-Thru Adventure award with 25%. Tigris Asiana took second place with 21%. Black Bear Ridge and Baboon Village tied for third place with 18% each.

 

Return of the Safari as the Wild Safari Drive-Thru Adventure (43%) is the winner for Best New Feature or Improvement for 2020. New Security Screening (29%) and Holiday in the Park Drive-Thru Experience (14%) are the second and third place winners.

 

Voters continue to want to see a New Children's Area and that is the winner for Most Like To See in 2022 with 20% of the votes. A Shows Package won second place with 17% and a water ride won third place with 11%.

 

Saw Mill Log Flume is the Most Missed Attraction with 52% of the vote. The second most missed attraction is Shows and Entertainment with 27% of the vote. The third most missed attraction is Houdini's Great Escape with 15% of the vote.

 

Re-introducing Drive-Thru Safari won the majority of votes (58%) for Biggest Surprise For COVID Operations. One vote separated second and third place with those being Holiday in the Park Drive-Thru Experience (15%) and New Security Scanning (12%).

I’m pleasantly surprised to see that Holiday in the Park has grown in popularity at least among park fans.  It has left  Fright Fest (Hallowfest) in the dust.   I know it is my favorite time of year at the park.

It's my favorite time of the year at the park too. In addition to being able to ride coasters until late December/early January, I like walking around the park and seeing all the decorations and lights.

 

I'm also happy to see Justice League Battle for Metropolis get so many votes for best themed attraction. Every time I enter the queue building and go to the ride, I still can't believe that such a themed ride exists at a regional park.
