  1. What I found to be interesting is that Houdini's isn't listed in the new park map book being handed out at the park yet they updated the ride signage a few weeks ago. The decision to leave it out of the map book had to be made a while ago. I wonder if this too was a last minute decision but they originally planned to not operate it and may have been reconsidering. Just some thoughts... Pete
  2. I think it's also interesting to note that the park map that is being handed out also lists the Flying Wave but doesn't list Fantasy Fling. Again, giving validity to the fact that it was a last minute decision. Pete
  3. Great Spotlight, guys! It's cool comparing the offseason work from then and now. My how the park has changed. I just wanted to make a quick mention. The spotlight opens by saying that the tour was arranged throught GM Larry Cochran. I had the pleasure of meeting Larry on two occassions in 2004 when he was the CEO for Palace Entertainment. What a great and down to earth guy he was and it's no wonder he did so many great things with Six Flags and his career. I just wanted to give a shout out to an IAAPA Hall of Famer and an all around great industry guy! Pete
  4. First thing I'll be doing is getting my pass processed. I'd rather stand in a line for a coaster than for my pass. After that, I'll probably head to Rolling Thunder or El Toro. Pete
  5. As I think someone has already stated somewhere, this really opens up some new views of GASM's boomerang! It'll be interested to see how they landscape the area but knowing GA's team I'm sure it'll look great when done. Pete
  6. I chose TDK because I am really curious to see what kind of a job they do with the theming. Not for the actual coaster itself. Pete
  7. This one upsets me but I can't say I blame them for taking it out. I always enjoyed the Looping Starship ever since I first chickened out back when I first visited the park some 18 years ago. Haha Pete
  8. I'll probably get down to the park about 5 times this year including opening day and Coaster Celebration. I hope it will be more but with fuel prices thats a little more realistic coming from Long Island. After going last season without a season pass, simply because I was too busy with work, I will be getting a pass again this year and intend to use it as much as I can. Pete
  9. The first coaster remember riding also is Rolling Thunder. I remember riding with my sister and holding on for dear life on the first drop. I thought the drop was so steap and recall telling people is wrapped under itself like a 97 degree drop or something. Hahaha The things you think when you're little. The drops only 45 degrees and I thought it was beyond vertical. haha Pete
  10. I remember seeing this or similar commercials thinking that they painted GASM. haha I was suprised to see that it was still red when I went to the park that summer. Pete
  11. Great job, guys! I never knew there was another "entrance sign" leading into Movietown over by Freefall. This spotlight brought back some great memories. Thanks! Pete
  12. This is the year I first began regularly visiting the park and was also my first Coaster Celebration year. It was exciting. The anticipation leading up to the season from all of the different drawings and renderings was immense. I even remember that a lot of enthusiasts had no idea(including myself) what a floorless coaster was because they first announced it as a "Heartline" coaster. It was very exciting and I don't think I'll ever feel that same sense of intense anticipation again in the near future at the park. Pete
  13. Hey Gang! Some of you will recognize my screenname from some other sites, and I have just recently signed up here. I don't post too often mostly due to time but I do check the boards almost everyday. My name of course is Pete and I live out on Long Island. On average I make it out to the park about 5-7 times a year but last year was unfortunate because I was only able to make one visit. Now that I have a new job I'm already making plans for opening day! I've been going to the park since 1990 and became a season pass holder in 2000. Well here's a little more info about me.... Age: 24 Sports teams: NY Rangers, NY Yankees Marrital Status: Engaged TV Shows: House, The West Wing, Ghost Hunters Movies: 61*, A Beautiful Mind, Happy Gilmore, What About Bob? I look forward to meeting some of you at the park this season! Regards, Pete
