  1. I believe they did the Scion Test Drive in that same spot a few years ago.
  2. Woo! Junior year of college complete! I only have 8 more classes left.
  3. As for the lift--there's a platform that moves up and down the lift, like the ones on Batman, but larger since there's no floor at all. The ride operators would move the platform under your row, detach the catwalk handrails, then let you out. And by "let you out", I mean they use the tool to unlock the restraint, as they're laying underneath you, and they catch you as you fall on top of them. Fun stuff.
  4. ^ And to add to that, Six Flags barely has anything to do with the solar field. SF is just leasing the land to KDC Solar. KDC Solar owns and maintains the panels. KDC Solar "sells" electricity to the park, but really, it just gets puts onto the power grid as if it were any other power generation plant. I don't know exactly how the "certificates" work, but I believe essentially KDC Solar sells them to local businesses (mainly Six Flags), and they essentially result in SF paying less for power. Everything in the park just draws power as usual from the power grid. EDIT: The planning board meeting notes did state they are building a substation on rt 537 near the employee entrance.
  5. There really is no other viable option for them to get solar power. It's either this, or extremely expensive. Six Flags isn't even the one paying for the construction, panels, or maintenance, either. The scale of power they need is immense. Covering all the parking lots and every building they have in solar panels would still not be enough.
  6. ^ I'm pretty sure there is a limit, something like 6 people.
  7. From what I've heard from multiple people, the Monday situation was almost all handicap passes. They would still have to use the exit ramp.
  8. The blue paper is a handicap pass.
  9. Mostly for when the park has large groups using the catering grove.
  10. I've also heard it could be a safety issue. Whirlpools tend to form in the river, causing boats to get stuck, so they don't want boats getting trapped under the waterfall.
  11. There are markings in Old Country, but nothing crazy.
  12. From what I've heard, they're only opening it on days with events in the picnic grove.
  13. That RMC logo was 100% photoshopped. Here's the post in question: https://www.facebook.com/groups/sfgadvconnoisseurs/permalink/693283660780596/ Someone else commented with another picture they took today without the logo.
  14. I've been saying this for years! In addition, seeing construction always generates a lot of interest and provides its own advertising. It the ride was all built for opening day, there would be a few scattered posts and pictures of it all done. Today, my Facebook newsfeed has been completely filled with updates, pictures, and videos of El Diablo. Seeing the construction generates a ton of buzz.
  15. Yeah, I think over the winter they switched to where the season pass and parking is on one paper voucher now. No more 2 pieces of paper. Dining and Shopping passes still need to be processed.
  16. If you just get a season pass, then that is all you need. If you purchase an add-on, like Season Pass Dining/Shopping, then you have to go to processing and have them add the Dining to your card. I'm not sure if this applies to parking or not since that's included with Gold Passes.
  17. There actually doesn't seem to be that many of the new wheels on the trains, maybe only 4 per train. But they look really awesome! And there is a big box filled with the new wheels behind the maintenance building. (you can see it from the brake run)
  18. They have to stop a train on the lift like that when they bring out all 3 trains. (One gets stopped on the lift, they roll the second into the station, and then they can bring the 3rd over on the transfer track.) 11:33am was exactly when I posted about them bring out all 3 trains. However, when we rode again at closing they only had 2 trains.
  19. I'll ride Tango! Are you planning on going this weekend, Harry?
  20. I hope so! A lot of people said they wanted to ride Nitro, but we decided to have the meet-up location at the center of the park, under a roof. That way, we're dry and can then decide what to ride based on the weather and what's open.
  21. Hey everyone! I'm planning some fan meet-ups at Great Adventure, with the first ones being this weekend. The meet-ups are for Great Adventure fans from any fan-site or Facebook group, as we're all mostly intertwined. We're all looking forward to hanging out at the park together and riding a few coasters. Due to a combination of feedback, weather, and people having work on Friday, I've decided to have two meet-up times: one on Friday and one on Saturday. When: Friday 4/3 at 6:30pm AND Saturday 4/4 at 1pm Where: Liberty Pub Pavilion, near the fountain Papa Johns. (Small covered pavilion) What: We will meet, talk, ride some rides together. The Saturday meet-up could have lunch together. As of right now, I'll only be there Friday. It would be great if someone could get a group picture from the Saturday meet-up, and generally lead the group in deciding what to ride. Like I said, there will be people from other Great Adventure fan-sites and groups, so don't be surprised if you don't know a few people. The goal of this is to bring all the Great Adventure lovers together. I hosted a similar meet-up last year on the last day of the season, and it went pretty well. Meet-up location:
  22. Would it be interesting? Maybe. Would it be cost effective? Probably not. I don't know how much the backwards chassis costs, but it seems like a gamble for little reward.
  23. Isn't the pass system a third party company? It's not Six Flags coding it
  24. I've also heard this. I've even heard that the "rule" may be something along the lines of planting 2 or 3 times the number of trees they remove. I could see it being just a rumor, though, as I don't know of any concrete evidence of it.
