Your recollection of a lot of the details of the first version are better than mine. I do remember the layout being much simpler inside the cabin and Houdini on the ceiling behind the skylight. I think they opted for a show with many more props and special effects which did make it more interesting. The first edition was rather simplistic and less impressive.

When the park stopped handing out paper maps at the park I thought it was a decision of Six Flags corporate to eliminate paper nationwide. I was surprised to see on a video of SF Great America’s 2023 opening day that they have paper pamphlet maps this year. We need these back! -
I had to laugh while watching some of the YouTube videos of the dragon on fire. Obviously, Disneyland has a lot of Disney fans in the park but some of them watched the dragon go up in flames and reacted like it was the Hindenburg. There were actually people wailing, and I was honestly expecting someone to yell out “oh the humanity”.

Six Flags Appoints Angus Jenkins as Corporate Vice President of Maintenance and Engineering April 21, 2023 Maintenance and engineering teams restructured into a single division to improve ride availability ARLINGTON, Texas--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- Six Flags Entertainment Corporation, the world’s largest regional theme park company and largest operator of water parks in North America, today announced the appointment of Angus Jenkins to the newly created role of Vice President, Maintenance and Engineering. Jenkins and a team of four regional directors will lead the combined Maintenance and Engineering Division, supporting Six Flags’ 27 properties with enhanced leadership, technical knowledge and on-going support. The new structure will position the Company to meaningfully improve ride availability at its properties over time, which is a leading guest pain point. “Our top priority is to provide our guests with safe and memorable experiences in our parks,” said Six Flags Chief Executive Officer, Selim Bassoul. “I am delighted to have Angus lead our Maintenance and Engineering team and believe this newly combined organization will allow us to elevate our industry leading safety standards while also improving ride up-times.” “I am thrilled to be leading the Maintenance and Engineering Division,” added Mr. Jenkins. “Our team is excited to play a key role in the Company’s long-term strategy of elevating the guest experience by improving ride availability, overseeing the next generation of new ride installations, and continuing to deliver on Six Flags’ industry best safety levels.” Throughout his career in the attractions industry, Jenkins has served in both park and corporate roles, most recently in Saudi Arabia as the International Brand Project Director, Design and Construction for Six Flags. Jenkins’ extensive experience in both new project development and on-going asset maintenance position him to expertly manage the company’s capital projects as well as maintenance and improvement of existing rides and facilities. Prior to joining Six Flags in 2018, Jenkins worked with Chance Morgan Rides, Vekoma Rides, Leisure and Recreation Concepts, Inc. (LARC) and Alpha Smartparks. Jenkins and the regional Directors of Maintenance and Engineering will collaborate with park maintenance personnel to ensure that the Company’s high standards for maintenance, safety and ride availability are observed; all applicable standards including local, regional and ASTM F24 requirements are met; and capital projects are executed in a timely and effective manner. I would imagine the dragon at the MK won’t be using its fire effect for a while.

^ I think GA was above average in part because of the following: - Aggressive operating calendar including many weekdays in the off season. - Aside from water rides, almost all rides were always open. - Coasters operated with maximum number of trains even when not needed. - Park allowed rerides without leaving the station. - Rides operated even when temperatures seemed extreme (cold). They seemed to be most inefficient in the foods department with the number of outlets usually less than ideal.

You would think the CEO would know that before eliminating the park president. Doesn’t seem he is in a rush to replace him.

Not a fan of the new train color. It looks like a faded version of the original. Just like the track! -

And how much of that is building the new campus and relocation costs of Imagineering to Florida?

I think in general visiting a park has become a less enjoyable experience and more of an advanced planning military-like series of maneuvers. The days of a spontaneous enjoyable day at the park are over - regional or destination wise.

What happened to Disney saying they may have pushed pricing too far? It didn’t seem to stop them from raising Genie+ to an all time high today.
