  1. I'm going to say a lot right now, and you could choose to believe me, or not.

    1. Bizarro IS in the rotation. Whether it's actually chosen to be moved, that we'll know soon enough.
    2. Every park in the chain has a five year plan, and their sticking to it. Whether you choose to forget the outdated Six Flags stereotypes or not is not of my worries.
    3. Contrary to fan-boy belief, Great Adventure will not be getting a new coaster in 2013. Sorry.

Welcome, I'm Brian; and you are...? Introduce yourself!

We've discussed five-year plans before, David - historically, the problem has been that management at the top usually changes 2-3 years into that plan... and then we start over from scratch. Even when management doesn't change, other things can effect a five-year "plan:" unexpected maintenance, the wishes of the shareholders, cooperation of the township, etc. Which is why I've said before, and will no doubt say many more times, unless we hear it via official park press release, we know nothing - and even then, things can change.

  2. I'd like to dispute some of the dates given concerning how long the store operated under the McDonald's brand...

Therefore, I can attest that the location remained under McDonald's operation through the 2003 season, at which point, we removed all operating material relating to the chain from the store to the one outside the park.

No need to be so formal - we're just a bunch of fans here, not park officials!

    :)

    • I'd like to see the Ghoulmaster out - he jumped the shark with that thing at showcase.
    • I'd also like to see the Big Wheel open through the end of the season thanks to a relocated stage (it's just a set of stacked risers, it can go anywhere).
    • I'm really sick of Dead Man's Party, but I know that's not the feeling of most people. It's just... "tired."
    • The company has quite a few pre-packaged FF shows available - I'd like to see the park use some, especially in Showcase: bring back Disco Inferno, for example... but not that dead celebrity show.
    • Give us a real FF show instead of just re-branding "Live & Local" as "Dawn of the Dead & Local." Seriously. That's just lazy.

  4. Maybe this could be the "new" attraction for 2013? Bringing back the old Chiller, instead of a transporting a ride from another park (In all honesty, SF hasn't had a custom coaster since Toro about 6 years ago) is such a smart idea! Cutting back on expenses is a small price to pay for this ride! It's just like they did with Bizarro. Medusa was loosing riders and SF was loosing money. Renaming it and putting in effects allowed riders to experience something "new" while giving SF a break with the costs. Rebuilding the Chiller with the advancements will have both rides running simultaneously! More riders means more money and re-population of that part of Movietown!

Six Flags won't reinstalll the ride for the same reason it hasn't been purchased by anyone else: as Thunderbolt said, God forbid something happened - would you want to defend installing a ride with its repair history?

  5. I have heard from two sources yesterday that the Chiller was sold to an unknow company in early February this year--first was in a comment on a youtube video, and the second was on wikipedia. Does anyone know anything else of this? And if so, who bought it and where it may be/ will be reconstructed? And lastly, does this mean that Great Adventure does not own this design anymore and will never ever be brought back regardless of what happens in the future? Please, answer.

    This:

Did the Chiller's sale fall through? A few days ago on italintl the ride was listed as sold. Now it's back. You can also see the ride on Amusement Trader.

  6. Intamin had nothing to do with the Soarin' rides. A WDI imagineer invented the concept and a steel mill in Vancouver, BC build the giant erector sets that lift the cars in front of the screens.

Vekoma and Huss already built copies of it. I tried the Vekoma version in Taiwan and it was a nice concept. Basically, to get around the erector set patent held by WDI, the Vekoma version loads in a room and then your suspended car just move forward in front of the screen. Nice images and the suspended car had side movements, as opposed to Soarin;. Huss sold a few ride systems similar to it in China and I believe one in Taiwan.

The Imagineer (Mark Sumner) used an erector set (a toy) to create a working model of the ride system, which was then manufactured by Dynamic Structures of Port Coquitlam, BC. The point is that the technology is out there and available....

  7. Lets see. There are manythings I would undo before id expand.

First, Restore the Lion to the entrance area. Re-work the Main Street plaza into a food court. Restore Yum-Yum, Gingerbread FAncy, Best of the West back to thier Orgional look and menus. Removel all the connecting buildings to the four tents and restore the entrance plaza canopy. And replace the original top but ths time with Dream Street logo. Build the fifth tent. And restore the shops. but retheme them to make the current. Work on the Space between the Caroseal and Fountain by adding shops. example a Magic Shop by the Houdinni, Return Hat,Hats, Remove some concrete and replant with flower gardens and trees. Bring a live Band act back to the "Band Stand by the Lake". Simple yes but a good start to restoring the park. And comming closer to the orgional plans. And one more very inportant thing...use the Original Logo and then go back to the "Great Adventure" Presented by Six Flags.

I like the way you think :)

  8. I would argue the Time Warner installations of the 90s were disastrous. Those coasters cost millions, were largely disliked by the general public, or were maintenance nightmares (i.e. "Chiller").

I don't think Chiller was disliked, but it did break down alot more than the Premier LIM coasters at other parks.

I believe he was considering it to be, of those three, a maintenance nightmare...but let's maintain the focus on Medusa/Bizarro.

  9. The mumblings I'm hearing from within the park all seem to be pointing to this season quite possibly being the last season for Bizarro. From what I have been able to piece together and again I can't confirm any of this but it does come from a collection of reliable sources is that all of the parks in the SF chain were asked to submit to corporate a coaster to be put on the "list" for ride rotation. Gadv was told they could not submit SUF because Gam had already put their SUF on the list so there was absolutely no other choice that could be made Bizarro was pretty much forced on the list.

More things I'm hearing suggest that the five "big parks": Gadv, MM, Gam, oT & oG are all required to give a coaster to the ride rotation program once every 5 years....Gam & MM have already done so. One source of mine claims however that gadv, MM & Gam have three coasters on their 5 year plans. The push that seems to be getting made right now for this year is that Bizarro is out...IMO its likely destination is between SFstl & SFoT. And 2013 we will be getting an all new B&M coaster in its spot.....I have my fingers crossed its a B&M 4D and NOT a wing rider.....but the hurtful pit in the bottom of my stomach tells me its a wing rider which makes me angry cause I've been actively posting that I wanted a B&M 4D since 2003! And you know if we get a wing rider it means you can kiss a B&M 4D goodbye

It is I was just contacted by a 100% reliable inside source who tells me that bizarro is absolutely not going anywhere for the 2013 season. As for this rumor it was chatter coming from people that while not inside sources usually seem to have reliable info....in this case it wound up being absolutely wrong so at this point I wouldn't take anything at all from this rumor as true....ride rotation, lists, etc etc just forget it was ever mentioned. Sorry for sharing I don't usually say things without being sure of them but when I saw someone already posted what I had also heard I felt compelled to share that I had heard it too, that wont be happening again anytime soon

THIS. Unless it's via press release, we know nothing - and even then things can change.
