We get it. The hurricane is named after a Spongebob character.
Nope.
-
Either way - what's your point, Mario?
-
IIRC correctly, Universal attempted a similar plan with The Simpsons Ride and The Wizarding World of Harry Potter (Harry Potter was supposed to open a year after Simpsons. We all know what happened afterwards).
I believe their one-two punch announcement was for Rip Ride Rockit and WWoHP.
-
If you are a fan of the Conestoga, stop by for a snack this weekend.
Oh no...
-
I wouldn't be surprised to see them turn Marvel Super Hero Island into Spiderman Island in the future.
A common rumor is that, with Disney's relatively new ownership of Marvel, Universal Orlando is locked into their existing ride/attraction/restaurant licenses - no changes, no additions. It's what they have now or nothing at all...
-
Also, when does Universal announce the new ride for USF (it probably won't be Transformers)
November first at 7:30 PM... and we shall see.
-
Was the Fantasyland castle and expansion supposed to be a quick answer to the Harry Potter addition and to somewhat replicate the appearance of Hogwarts or is Avatar still supposed to be Harry Potter competition?
I think Disney is hoping that both areas will be stiff competition... but this expansion won't be complete for another year or so, and Universal is moving very quickly with Potter phase II.

Ok, not bad. Did you notice how much parking was? I'll probably get one like I usually do.It was $59.99 (SP Premium Renewal - Includes Hurricane Harbor) and 56.07 for parking. That came to $116.06 or $124.18 with tax.
-
Zombie drag queens... interesting.
-
There was such an optimism and celebration regarding the wonders of science and the mind in the early 80's ... 3-2-1 Contact came to PBS, Mister Wizard returned to television with a new show on Nickelodeon... technology was moving ahead at a rapid pace (as it is now), but now I think we take it for granted...
-
Also, either turn off the Jumbotron screen or play horror movie clips.
Agreed - that Jumbotron was the worst thing to happen to Fright Fest...
-
That stage is for Professor Zombini's Freak Show.
Interesting that the freak show won't be in the boardwalk this year...
-
Hopefully they plan to paint the water tower soon....
Yeah, that's looking very poor...
-
Why is those poles there anyways?
Please read the entire thread before posting; the answer can be found above:
As far as I know those are just head choppers for effect at the end of the ride. It's always fun to watch everyone duck as they pass under them! -
The loading area and queue will occupy the region just outside of the arena. This area will look completely different next season.
I reiterate:
In designing a transition from the park to the safari, I hope care is taken to preserve the park's original themed elements that remain... especially after the relatively recent loss of the Super TeePee.
-
Where in the park is that?
That's in the Safari's Exploration Station.

WHERE WILL YOU TURN WHEN THERE IS NO ESCAPE?
Universal Orlando's Halloween Horror Nights 22 Features Horrifying Line-Up of Pop Culture's Biggest Names, Including AMC's "The Walking Dead" and Silent Hill
Completely Reinvented Street Experience Will Unleash Roaming Legions of Horrific Creatures on Guests in More Places Than Ever Before
ORLANDO, Fla. (August 30, 2012) – Each step brings an eerie feeling that something horrifying is tracing your every move with lifeless eyes. You frantically search for a place to hide as a growling, flesh-hungry mob gains ground. Turning a corner, you breathe a sigh of relief… Until you look ahead. Screams pierce the night as you're overcome. You never had a chance. There is no escape.
Beginning September 21, Universal Orlando's Halloween Horror Nights returns for 25 nights as the nation's best and most intense Halloween event. This year, once guests step inside Halloween Horror Nights, they will not be able to escape the horror that awaits them, including terrifying haunted houses featuring some of the biggest names in pop culture – like AMC's "The Walking Dead" and Silent Hill. And, with a completely reinvented street experience, scarecators will seek them out no matter where they turn.
This year, guests will fight for survival from the flesh-eating walkers of AMC's "The Walking Dead;" run to avoid the demonic beings from the universe of popular video game and motion picture franchise Silent
Hill; try to escape Penn & Teller's nuclear ooze-covered Las Vegas wasteland; and come face-to-face with the twisted concepts pulled straight from legendary shock rocker Alice Cooper's most popular songs.
Even more haunted house horror is in store, as well. What were once just ghastly rumors about an old, abandoned house have come to life as actual bone-chilling apparitions in Dead End; the still, stone protectors of an ancient European cathedral have awakened to fight intruders off at any cost in Gothic; and Universal's legacy of horror continues as the classic monsters of fear appear in blinding black and white in
House of Horrors. To watch a video featuring this year's all-new haunted houses, click
.And, a completely reinvented street experience will unleash scareactors in an all-new, terrifying way. Roaming legions of menacing beasts, vampires, prisoners, warriors and more will inhabit every corner of the park. They will find you and invade your personal space like never before. There will be no boundaries. The rules of the past will no longer apply.
For a detailed listing of each of the attractions featured at this year's event, see below.
Halloween Horror Nights runs September 21-22, September 27-30, October 4-7, 11-14, 17-21, 24-28 and 31. Tickets and vacation packages are on sale now and can be purchased at Halloweenhorrornights.com/orlando.
For details on special Florida resident offers, please see below. Due to the event's popularity, tickets for weekend nights are expected to sell out and should be purchased well in advance.

HALLOWEEN HORROR NIGHTS 22 – AN OVERVIEW
HAUNTED HOUSES
AMC's "The Walking Dead"
There is strength in numbers, and you must band together to make it through many of the iconic settings made famous by the critically-acclaimed AMC television series, "The Walking Dead." As the city is crawling with hordes of walkers, the issue of your becoming one of them is not a question of if, but when.
Silent Hill
In the eerie and desolate town of Silent Hill, ash falls from the sky and the physical laws of nature no longer apply. If you dare to venture into this alternate dimension, there is only one law of nature with which you
must concern yourself: survival.
Penn & Teller New(kd) Las Vegas
World-renowned magicians Penn & Teller have accidentally nuked Las Vegas, but don't worry, it's nothing a fresh coat of paint and a truckload of BS can't fix. Come on down to New Vegas, where all that glitters isn't
gold, and in fact probably has fatal levels of radioactivity.
Alice Cooper – Welcome To My Nightmare
Journey into the legendary rocker Alice Cooper's twisted mind and witness the natural melding of horror and Cooper's four decades-long career. Here you will follow Steven, the iconic character from many of Cooper's works, as you come face-to-face with a myriad of tormentors who threaten an already-decaying sense of sanity.
House of Horrors
This is no remake. No sequel. No re-imagining. These are Universal's classic monsters of fear, who have terrified audiences from the Silver Screen. They have been waiting within silver celluloid to be resurrected.
The flash of a lightning strike cuts the darkness that surrounds, and terror's true faces take back what is theirs…
Dead End
If enough people believe in something, perception can become reality. In Carey, Ohio, the perception was that countless horrific acts had occurred in the old Hartford Mansion. The reality was that the curse which befell the house was far worse than any story ever told.
Gothic
The Catedral de Caementum Animus is, by day, undergoing a building-wide architectural refurbishment. By night, the many stone gargoyles that keep watchful eye over the sanctuary come to life with the mission of protecting this sacred place against intrusion.
NEW – REINVENTED STREET EXPERIENCE
Legions of Horror
With a ripping, clawing and tearing through the concrete beneath Universal Studios come ancient cemetery structures, spilling blood-raged, vampiric hordes that span the eras of time, barbaric warriors with a need
to carve flesh from bone and an all-female, chainsaw-wielding prison gang. These and more nightmarish hellions inhabit every dark corner, foggy recess and shadowed path within the park. Unlike in years past,
there are no boundaries. No safezones. No one escapes.
The force of horror starts with The Iniquitus. Rooted in evil, these are the patrons of death and are the ones who rose from the cemetery. The Iniquitus are those who summoned the Dark Legions to come and
feast here.
The dark legions of horror that await are: Vampires – the blood-thirsty from all eras of time, Beasts – the legendary animal-like figures who prey on the unsuspecting, Warriors – a gang killed in a deadly war that
has returned to seek revenge, Prisoners – these deceased chainsaw-wielding female inmates killed in a women's prison fire are back… and angry, and Traditionals – the ghosts and goblins of Halloween past
come together to feast.
LIVE SHOWS

What new rides are they gonna build next season?
Great Adventure will be getting the Big Wave Racer in Hurricane Harbor and the improvements to the safari.
For chain-wide additions, see New for 2013 Six Flags Announcements!
-
Where is that ride located?
Six Flags Over Texas, aka SFOT.
This really stinks for SFOT. I hope for them that they are getting something really nice to replace their Parachutes. Hopefully we can benefit from some of the parts left behind from the dismantling of the Chute Out so that Great Adventure can still keep this now unique ride alive. -
The ride will depart from inside the theme park's Frontier Adventure section and proceed to the Safari via the area behind the Northern Star Arena.
I hope, in designing a transition from the park to the safari, care is taken to preserve the park's original themed elements that remain... especially after the relatively recent loss of the Super TeePee.
-
I expected to see the typical fencing being put up for the terror trail behind Chiller. It looks like they have invested in a whole new maze.
I was just saying this morning how impressive this looks!
-
I think the park made a mistake by handling the announcement of the drive through aspect of the safari coming to an end... They should have just said it when they made the announcement next Thursday.
Agreed; this just has people in a tizzy for nothing...
although monorail construction could start very soon after, they really arent that much work to get together...Monorail???

Their facebook page, 20 minutes ago:
Breaking News: Six Flags Wild Safari will discontinue allowing guests to drive their own vehicles through its gates on September 30, 2012. The animals will all remain on property and under the excellent care of our veterinary and animal husbandry staff. More to come when we release the details for our 2013 season on August 30, 2012. -
Wait SFGA has a new terror trail called Voodoo?'[/i]]Voodoo Island Terror Trail will actually be located in Frontier Adventures, making use of the peninsula under the Log Flume!
