LAKE BUENA VISTA — Gov. Ron DeSantis’ handpicked board overseeing Disney World’s government services is gearing up for a potential legal battle over a 30-year development agreement they say effectively renders them powerless to manage the entertainment giant’s future growth in Central Florida.

Ahead of an expected state takeover, the Walt Disney Co. quietly pushed through the pact and restrictive covenants that would tie the hands of future board members for decades, according to a legal presentation by the district’s lawyers on Wednesday.

    Quote

Among other things, a “declaration of restrictive covenants” spells out that the district is barred from using the Disney name without the corporation’s approval or “fanciful characters such as Mickey Mouse.”

That declaration is valid until “21 years after the death of the last survivor of the descendants of King Charles III, king of England living as of the date of this declaration,” if it is deemed to violate rules against perpetuity, according to the document.

  2. Six Flags America is adding a water coaster called RipQurl Blaster.

    https://www.sixflags.com/america/attractions/ripqurl-blaster

"Riders will climb aboard a two-person raft for a white-knuckle ride through three powerful uphill rip currents while zig-zagging through 557 feet of twists and turns. The ride features three breathtaking drops, three AquaLucent hairpin turns, and a pitch-black wall-hugging helix finale before the final splashdown."

  3. They should stop calling all of the parks "Thrill Capitals" with this lame lineup.  Six Flags needs a CEO that isn't afraid of thrill rides and understands what guests are looking for.  I have no interest in visiting Six Flags Great America in 2023 and trying out one of the 90 new benches or eating the new overpriced junk food that now meets Selim's standards.

Knott's tower was originally installed as a combination parachute jump and observation tower.  They removed the parachutes and the upper catwalks leaving just the observation cabin.  It would be great if ours could be changed to an observation tower.

Sky Trek Tower at SFGAm has been SBNO since the start of the pandemic and it sounds like the park is unsure about its future.  For now, it is just a flag pole.

  5. I saw some coverage of the event on the ACE twitter account.

Hersheypark gave a construction tour and released the Wildcat's Revenge on-ride POV.  I didn't see anything from Great Adventure, it appears they are still looking for a Manager of Marketing and PR.
