    A Kennywood Classic Returns

A true Kennywood classic will rejoin the park’s world-class collection of rides in 2022.The iconic Kangaroo will return fully refurbished and ready to thrill riders with its unique ride experience – a rite of passage for younger guests seeking bigger thrills.

More than a ride, Kangaroo is a timeless Kennywood tradition. Riders have looked forward to the feeling of weightlessness aboard the attraction for generations. Now, the ride that served as the inspiration for Kennywood’s mascot will make its triumphant return 60 years after its initial debut.

In partnership with Premier Rides – one of the amusement industry’s leading ride manufacturers and innovators – Kennywood has begun a total refurbishment of Kangaroo. This work will enhance the experience with an all-new LED lighting package, vibrant new colors, and state of the art operating systems while still providing the classic “Flying Coaster” feel.

  2. Sounds like a nice coaster, but what an awful name.

Riders will soar over 3,400 feet of track, towering 15 stories and flying at speeds up to 64 miles-per-hour. The new coaster will be located near the main gate to the park where guests will have spectacular views of the ride featuring the largest Zero-G Stall in America. “ArieForce One is a tribute to my father and his passion for flying. So I work in hotel market analysis in Pittsburgh. Basically, I spend all day figuring out who is coming into the market and why.

I've noticed a sudden and consistent booking pattern of rooms in the Pittsburgh East market (the area Kennywood is in) from the Six Flags Incorporated travel account.

Seeing that Parques just built an office in Pittsburgh I would be surprised if they sold Kennywood to Six Flags, but they're here for something. I just don't know what!

It isn't a ton of rooms, but it seems like a few people have been making regular trips out since at least mid-August.

So Bizzaro is becoming riddler now it appears. Odd to see another green coaster and the second green B&M. Feels odd as I don't see them adding any theming, but will probably gut all of the Bizzaro theming. I guess it's to capitalize on the new movie.

I normally avoid all of the comic book and superhero movies, but I might checkout The Flash movie to see Michael Keaton as Batman again.

Six Flags signed a 5 year deal with PPG paints in June, so I would expect to see all major attractions in the park repainted before the deal ends.  The park president of Six Flags Over Texas stated that all major attractions in that park will be repainted by the end of 2023.

The Tallest and Longest Single-rail Coaster on the Planet! Taking Flight Summer 2022

Six Flags Magic Mountain’s record 20th coaster—the most at any theme park in the world—WONDER WOMAN™ Flight of Courage will debut Summer 2022 as the tallest and longest single-rail coaster on the planet. Riders will fly single file through the sky over 3,300 feet of track, towering 13 stories and soaring at speeds up to 58 miles-per-hour.

WONDER WOMAN™ Flight of Courage will be located in the six-acre DC UNIVERSE™ area of the park, which will be expanded and entirely remodeled to include a new, innovative restaurant and bar experience, plus retail locations featuring exclusive DC branded merchandise.

WONDER WOMAN™ Flight of Courage exemplifies the Super Hero’s traits of strength and speed—showcasing the legacy of WONDER WOMAN™ herself. As guests enter the ride queue, influenced by Greek architecture and featuring tropical landscaping, they will be immersed in the story of her life and how she obtained her super powers. Riders will join forces with WONDER WOMAN™ in the fight for truth, justice, and equality, to embark on an incredible journey of heroic feats, propelling through dives, banks, rolls, and turns designed to challenge the bravest of thrill seekers.

The newly-themed DC UNIVERSE area also includes the popular BATMAN The Ride and several other DC themed rides.

The current rumor for Magic Mountain is that they will have 20 coasters in 2022, 19 coasters in 2023, and 20 coasters in 2024.  An older coaster (possibly Viper) will be leaving to make room for a new B&M.

It is interesting to see Starbucks in the park now. They are everywhere now I guess.

Supposedly, most of the Six Flags parks will be getting a Starbucks.  It is rumored that there is a new deal with FAT Brands (owner of Johnny Rockets) and more of their restaurant brands will show up in the parks over the next few seasons.

Six Flags partnership will equip security staff with body cameras

    Published: Aug. 31, 2021 at 7:50 a.m. ET

Axon Enterprise Inc. AXON, +3.12%, a public safety technology company, said Tuesday that it has partnered with Six Flags Entertainment Corp. SIX, -0.54% to equip park security staff with 600 body cameras nationwide. The news comes after reports of at least two incidents at Six Flags parks in New Jersey, one in July at the Six Flags Hurricane Harbor where state police and a K-9 bomb-sniffing dog unit was notified, and another on Monday where a guest entered a restricted area and injured her leg. "This added transparency will increase security and operations efficiencies and eliminate uncertainty around staff and guest interactions, benefiting everyone involved," said Mike Shore, Axon's general manager of commercial and private security sectors, in a statement.

  11. Wild Speculation Warning:  Due to the repaint of Pandemonium, I think Catwoman Whip at SFOT will be relocated to another park for 2022.  This ride is next to an empty piece of land that will eventually be used for a new attraction and this would free up more space.  This is the only 48 person Zamperla Endeavour built and would be a good fit at one of the larger parks in the chain.

Pandemonium at SFOT is being repainted the same colors as the Catwoman rides at SFOG and SFStL.

There are currently two (2) water systems in Jackson Township.  These are the Jackson Township MUA (JTMUA) water system (which includes the former Legler water system that was acquired by JTMUA and interconnected in 2011) and the Six Flags Great Adventure (SFGA) water system.  These water systems are supplied by separate treatment and distribution systems but are scheduled to be interconnected by 2020.

Six Flags Great Adventure Water System

The Authority also owns and operates the water supply facilities at SFGA.  The SFGA water system consists of four (4) production wells, a water treatment plant and two (2) water storage tanks:  a 0.5 million gallon ground storage tank and a 0.5 million gallon elevated storage tank.  This system provides potable water exclusively to SFGA.
In partnership with SFGA, JTMUA is planning to construct a 2,250 GPM Advanced Water Treatment Plant and a 1 million gallon elevated storage tank beginning in 2018.  These facilities will be regional and will service the northwestern portion of Jackson Township.

The existing Six Flags Water Treatment Plant was constructed in the 1970s and is need of replacement.  The Authority is able to borrow funds at extremely low interest rates and we were able to leverage this low cost financing into a cost-effective joint project between the Authority and Six Flags. In short, the Authority will construct a WTP, which it will own and operate, that will be rated for 3.24 MGD on property the Authority owns outside of Six Flags. This future facility will serve both Six Flags Great Adventure as well as the Authority’s service area including the Route 537 corridor. Construction began in June 2018 and is expected to be completed in June 2020.
