  1. I don't understand why they felt the need to remove the signs. Especially the Boardwalk one... the colors were fading? Then re-paint it! I hope for next season, the park owners put signs in each of the themed areas.
  2. Batman: The Ride Batman: The Ride's ride vehicles are themed as devices owned by Batman that save us, the riders, from villains who are chasing us. The first thing the park has to do is make sure the sound effects are ALWAYS running. Every now and then, I can hear cars passing by over the queue on the highway overpass, construction equipment, and villains. Also, the junkyard should be filled with junk again, and the police car should be placed back along the queue. A new recording of Alfred should say, "It seems you've stumbled upon the secret entrance to the Batcave. Under normal circumstances, I would send you back, but it appears that thugs have followed you. Quickly, come inside and I'm sure Batman can help you escape." Inside the main station, the Batman theme should constantly be playing, along with a recording of Batman telling riders, "Alright. Ahead of you are my escape vehicles. Choose one of the rows in front of you and stand in line for it. When it's your turn, board the vehicle, four people to a row. Pull down the safety restraints and wait for one of my assistants to secure you. Then, hold on tight, don't frown -- I'm about to turn your world upside-down." During the course of the ride, fog machines should turn on during the back of the ride at night. When the train returns into the station building, and is waiting for the previous train to load, a recording in the back section only should say, "It appears you've made it. Now, when the vehicles return to a complete and final stop, get off quickly and don't look back. And remember, enjoy the rest of your day at Six Flags Great Adventure." Congo Rapids All we know about Congo Rapids is that it takes place on the Congo River. Every now and then, a ride op will say, "I see you've survived your journey down the Congo." Well, the ride will have a strict structure from now on. Along the queue for the ride, there will be posters for "Warner's Congo River Tours", a humorously cheapskate tour along the river. As the line gets closer to the station, there will be posted warnings from Warner's Congo River Tours like "Warner's Congo River Tours is not responsible for riders devoured by crocodiles." In line, there will be TVs with Mr. Warner, founder of Warner's Congo River Tours, saying, "Welcome to my tours. The times have really hit us hard -- so, unfortunately, your tour will be self-guided. Unless, of course, you pay $500 extra so I can hire a guide! All of my guides were eaten by.... I mean, laid off. Make sure you throw away all food and drinks with you, and don't take any loose articles with you -- you wouldn't want to bait the piranhas." The ride ops will be dressed in Safari costumes (like they used to be), with the Warner's Congo River Tours logo on their costumes. Along the ride, there will be brand new speakers. The first new addition to the actual ride will be animatronic "natives", who attack the boat with what were previously coin operated sprayers. These will go off every time a boat goes by, and will be controlled by an employee. The waterfalls will be turned back on, and some new rapids will be added. When the boats return, a recording will say, "We're glad that you survived your tour along the Congo River. Tips are gladly accepted, and desperately needed."
  3. The fact that big-budget pieces of crap like Transformers get more attention than modest-budget great films like Super 8.
  4. I just hope the park puts some money into trying to make the place look nice again. After visiting Kings Island and Busch Gardens, I'm really beginning to see how ugly the park is. We need more trees, greenery, new paint, etc.
  5. Thank you so much for this spotlight! These are what the park really needs to bring back, especially for Boardwalk, Fantasy Forest, and Lakefront. The park seems to think that no one cares about its lack of theming, but I was reading the park's Trip Advisor page, and that's one of the things many people complained about. These signs, plus themed music playlists, can help create cohesively themed areas.
  6. I couldn't agree more. This especially goes for the "state of the art" speaker that plays modern music that they added at the Skyway's Fantasy Forest station RIGHT NEXT to an old speaker which plays the Robin Hood theme. Really, Six Flags??
  7. ^ Oh man, the park getting the Wizard of Oz dark ride that Warner LeRoy planned years ago would be awesome.
  8. Well, first-off, I'm not sure what you mean by "a Batman and Robin the chiller-type" reputation. True, Batman and Robin was an awful movie that brought the Batman franchise to a grinding halt, but I never heard anyone say "Batman and Robin was an awful movie, so the ride must be awful too". The Chiller was actually one of the most popular rides in the park the whole time it was here. Secondly, the ride is not based off the movie. The ride was opened in the same year as the movie to increase its popularity. However, unlike The Dark Knight Coaster, this ride isn't based on the story of the movie. It's just based on the character. The reason I say this is because you don't see Ryan Reynolds's face anywhere near the ride -- it's all comic book images, like Superman next door. The Boardwalk has comic book coasters, and Movietown has movie-based coasters. Green Lantern didn't do TERRIBLY, it just didn't do well for a superhero film. It still made money, but just as much as Thor or X-Men. Third, the box-office results don't say anything about the ride's popularity. Look at Terminator Salvation -- that was an awful movie, but the ride was good, so it was popular. Green Lantern (the ride) is incredibly popular. So, no.
  9. Where did he get the money from to own GADV?
  10. The building looks really nice. I'm glad we got this; it gives us something unique - something the GP can't really experience anywhere else near by.
  11. ^it's probably not a good idea to ride it that early in the season! I've always wanted to use the coin sprayers, but I'm scared that the person I soak will find me later on somewhere else in the park; or even worse, I'll be on the Log Flume and they'll happen to be at the coin sprayers.
  12. Let me start of by saying, another great spotlight. This might just be my favorite ride spotlight. Secondly, I wholeheartedly agree with your opinion on the Log Flume. Ruling out the stellar log flumes that get most of their kicks through theming, the Log Flume is definitely my favorite should I say "normal" log flume. I've ridden the ones at Kings Island, Kings Dominion, Dorney, and Hershey, and they're all boring compared to ours. One of the things I most love about our log flume is how fast the log runs down the trough after you go down the two smaller drops. I mean, the log is ZOOMING down the trough faster than any other log flume I've ever ridden. It would be interesting to see what the fastest Log Flume is, and whether or not it's us. But our Log Flume is the perfect length, and it's beautiful. We don't need artificial theming. We have a real lake, and real trees, real beauty.
  13. It was really fun! Don't be fooled by the souvenir cups stacked on the counter, you can also get normal-sized cups. They don't have flavors from around the world, it's just Coca-Cola's normal products, plus added flavors. A la Strawberry Sprite, Cherry Vanilla Coke, etc.
  14. The Dark Knight was not a family movie in the same way that a wild mouse coaster is a family coaster. The families that went to see The Dark Knight are the families that ride Kingda Ka and El Toro together. I mean, if I find the Joker disturbing, young children who love Wild Mouse coasters would have nightmares for weeks from Heath Ledger's performance. That's why he got an Oscar for it.
  15. I thought Skull Mountain was going to have tunnels and theming.
  16. I wasn't disappointed with the ride so much as I was disappointed with it next to the movie. The Dark Knight was an excellent film, and it really deserved a top-notch, thrilling indoor coaster. A wild mouse should have never been made out of The Dark Knight. The 80's Batman movies, maybe. Just the comic strip, maybe. But not The Dark Knight.
  17. I experienced one of these in a nifty burger joint in Washington, D.C., and it was amazing! I must have really been annoying the people at the counter when I went up for dozens of refills. I highly recommend Lime Coca-Cola. It's delicious.
  18. What annoys me most is the lack of action by security in this area, and in the area of profanity. Six Flags right now is NOT a family park. If you want to see a family park, go to Dorney or Hershey. I know they're trying, but one of the first things they need to do is stop people who are cursing and making rude gestures. I was line for Nitro and the woman behind me was cursing non-stop, and not to mention saying racial epithets and other very inappropriate things. We walked right past security, and no one did anything. I wouldn't want to bring my young children here. Line jumping is definitely the worst. I really don't like when people get out of line and come back, or save spots for people. I mind less when 10 people are saving a spot for one person than when 1 person is saving a spot for 10 people. But the rules say that you can't save spots for people in line PERIOD, but no one seems to realize this. Security needs to step it up, and maybe these people will stop cutting, or even better, stop coming to the park.
  19. Skull Mountain's fountain (rhymes) wasn't running in the pic -- was it running earlier or later that day?
  20. This ride has some pretty good theming! But I'm SOOO confused ..... I thought the ride went backwards -- did they just turn this function off? Or did they remove that whole section of the ride?
  21. Beautiful spotlight! I have Safari internet, so when I open a new tab, it shows screenshots of the Top 9 websites I visit, and Great Adventure History is one of them. I was about to go to Facebook when I saw "NITRO" in big letters on the "recent spotlights" list.... I got so excited! Great job! Nitro truly is an amazing coaster, and so far this season, it's been my favorite. El Toro doesn't seem to be running as well as I remembered. Looking through the coasters list, it looks like all of the remaining coaster spotlights will be extremely interesting! I especially can't wait for Kingda Ka and El Toro.
  22. Green Lantern's coming along great theming-wise! While I was at the park yesterday, worker crews added some decals to the station. Rutted roof panels are being added to the roof of the station, and signage was hung on both sides of the station with the Ferris (aviation company in the Green Lantern movie) logo and the motto "Where courage takes flight". Also, some theming was added along the queue. The security guard allowed me to take a few photos over the construction fence: This box of theming was closed in the photos uploaded to Facebook earlier this week, it's open now. There's still theming inside waiting to be placed on the station or along the track. It looks like some human figures are inside the box, but it's hard to tell. This picture doesn't capture much, but you can see the side of the entrance way. The green lantern battery or whatever it's called has been mounted on top of the podium in the center of the logo on the ground. It looks like a light will go in the center that will light up at night. Speaking of which, almost the entire track was lit up tonight. It looked amazing. Interestingly enough, the little path area where the red machine is was where the band was playing on GASM's final night. Here, not only can you see the ride testing and the open box-o-theming, but you can also see an airplane prop that has been placed along the queue. It has a runway painted underneath it. It looks really awesome. Here you can see the sign which I assume will be placed onto the queue house. Not shown in the pictures is a figurine of Green Lantern that has been placed against the station. The ride was testing all three trains today, and it looked great. The ride looked and sounded smooth, and I can't wait to ride it.
