29yrswithaGApass
I thought it would be interesting to put together a listing of removed Great Adventure rides now at other locations across the nation. These include: OPEN & OPERATING: Condor -- Six Flags Great America - Gurnee, IL Evolution -- Six Flags St Louis - Eureka, MO Gondola -- The Fairground Heritage Centre - Devon, England Lightnin' Loops -- Frontier City - Oklahoma City, OK (red loop) Pendulum -- Six Flags Great America - Gurnee, IL Rodeo Stampede -- Six Flags Over Texas - Arlington, TX Sarajevo Bobsled -- Great Escape - Lake George, NY Scrambler -- Six Flags Over Georgia - Austell, GA LAST SEEN/NOT CURRENTLY OPERATING: Batman & Robin The Chiller -- storage near the park Joust a Bout -- GA's boneyard Matterhorn -- Six Flags Atlantis Water Park -- Hollywood, FL (most likely destroyed by Hurricane Andrew in 1992) Pirates Flight -- last seen at Geauga Lake - Aurora, OH Shockwave -- storage at Darien Lake - Darien Center, NY Ultra Twister -- storage at Six Flags America - Upper Marlboro, MD DEMOLISHED: Hydro Flume Traffic Jam Bumper Cars FreeFall Looping Starship Viper Anyone know the current status/location of any others? warnerleroy
^^There is a rumor that GADV's old wildcat coaster is now at Keansburg AMusement Park
gafreak
I heard that the ultra twister was dammaged durring transportation and is unrepairable in MD, where is chiller stored at? could it make a return in the future?
The Master
Pretty good idea for a topic 29yrs, storage is a loose term for Ultra Twister. More like it is a pile of parts in SFA's boneyard.
29yrswithaGApass
^Thanks, I hope to also add a "Where ELSE can you ride them?" topic. It will be a listing of all the parks that currently operate the same manufacture/model rides as all those removed from GA. For example: "Condor -- Six Flags Great America - Gurnee, IL. Also Great Escape, LaRonde, Hersheypark, Morey's at Wildwood"
redsoxfan0810
Jumpin Jack Flash was in the boneyard, but I think one of Phils updates showed that it was no longer there.
Great Adventurer
What an awesome idea! I love it! where is chiller stored at? could it make a return in the future? Less than a mile from the park in a warehouse. I doubt it will return... But I'd love to see it do so. I never got the chance to ride it. acq10uaz
^I didn't think it was at a warehouse. Didn't Flyin Phils photos show it was at a farm right near the park?
redsoxfan0810
Yeah just down route 537 a mile or two.
29yrswithaGApass
Jumpin Jack Flash was in the boneyard, but I think one of Phils updates showed that it was no longer there. Yep, I think you are right. We saw them loading it up to take it away this winter when we were visiting the park.
redsoxfan0810
I wonder if it was scrapped, it had been sitting outside for maybe 7 years. But I hope it does show up again, it's a fun ride.
gafreak
I heard that Cedar Point has the only freefall left in the world as Demon Drop, it was up for sale but not sure if its still there. Edited July 17, 2009 by 29yrswithaGApass Change Cedar Rapids to Cedar Point
29yrswithaGApass
Oh, and three other GA rides that are still out there are the Kiddie Boats, Kiddie Planes, and Speedtrap rides now at The Great Escape: OPEN & OPERATING: Condor -- Six Flags Great America - Gurnee, IL Evolution -- Six Flags St Louis - Eureka, MO Gondola -- The Fairground Heritage Centre - Devon, England Lightnin' Loops -- Frontier City - Oklahoma City, OK (red loop) Pendulum -- Six Flags Great America - Gurnee, IL Rodeo Stampede -- Six Flags Over Texas - Arlington, TX Sarajevo Bobsled -- Great Escape - Lake George, NY Scrambler -- Six Flags Over Georgia - Austell, GA Kiddie Boats - Great Escape - Lake George, NY Kiddie Planes - Great Escape - Lake George, NY Kiddie Speedtrap - Great Escape - Lake George, NY LAST SEEN/NOT CURRENTLY OPERATING: Batman & Robin The Chiller -- storage near the park Joust a Bout -- GA's boneyard Matterhorn -- Six Flags Atlantis Water Park -- Hollywood, FL (most likely destroyed by Hurricane Andrew in 1992) Pirates Flight -- last seen at Geauga Lake - Aurora, OH Shockwave -- storage at Darien Lake - Darien Center, NY Ultra Twister -- storage at Six Flags America - Upper Marlboro, MD DEMOLISHED: Hydro Flume Traffic Jam Bumper Cars FreeFall Looping Starship Viper
Mr. Hot Dog
Great topic! I always wonder about the whereabouts of removed rides since I have a quirky urge to track them down and ride them, especially if I missed my chance while they were at GA. (Ahem, Lightnin' Loops -- I just haven't been able to justify a trip to Oklahoma quite yet.) By the way, Rollercoaster Database (www.rcdb.com) has Diamondback listed as the lower/blue Lightnin' Loops track... is this an erroneous listing? Diamondback was previously blue, but that could always be a coincidental paint job. I'd love to see the "where ELSE" thread too -- my early contribution for that thread is that Cobra at La Ronde is the only operating clone of Shockwave. When I renew my passport, I'll have to take a drive up to Canada and give it a whirl. Edited August 26, 2009 by Mr. Hot Dog
