GAcoaster
Our wish for day 14: A drop tower for the park. It really is the one ride that almost all major theme parks have, but GA still lacks. My illustration shows it where I'd like to see it, in the curve of the flume, in the area near the Shooting Gallery building (which could them be re-opened as a shop for the ride). I figure themeing it as a giant Totem Pole would fit with the Super Teepee next to it.
redsoxfan0810
Amen to this one. Drop towers have become a staple of parks, almost like a ferris wheel or swings.
sfgatim
this is a great idea, but unfortunatly since the accident this summer i dont think well see one any time soon.
GAcoaster
I think that would depend on the drop tower. The older style ones with the small cars, probably not. A gyro tower (which gives more capacity) then yes.
Stargazer Alchemist
Dominator at Dorney Park would be perfect.
CycloneMan
^I agree with Walter. Though I'd preffer a Triple Combo Tower!
GAcoaster
Aesthetically, I like INTAMIN's version better.
CycloneMan
I've only been on one Intamin 2nd generation... It was 150ft tall!
sfgatim
these are great thrill rides, i love rising ...stopping and waiting for the drop.
29yrswithaGApass
I thing the Intamin Gyros look the most impressive and offer the best drop experience. To me all the S&S versions seem to offer a water-downed thrill in comparison. I thought that Six Flags Over Georgia's Arcrophobia would be the best given the tilt out seat feature, but I found that to sort of take away from the overall experience than add to it. redsoxfan0810
I'd prefer a triple or quad tower complex from S&S. They have a much higher capacity which can handle the crowds the park gets, and the park can use only as many towers as they need if there is a slow day. 29yrswithaGApass
As simple and as old fashioned as it was, I miss our FreeFall ride.
darkridedan
None other makes my legs shake like the 1st generation!
redsoxfan0810
The first gen's certainly give a great ride. I've rode two, and I still find them freakier than any other drop ride I've experienced. I'll miss SMFF too.
Stargazer Alchemist
The first gen's certainly give a great ride. I've rode two, and I still find them freakier than any other drop ride I've experienced. I'll miss SMFF too. I worked SMFF back in 06 before it closed. There is no other ride in the park that could rival the experience from working there. It was hard, it was challenging, but it was fun. The Master
Yes GAdv needs a drop tower to replace Freefall. I think the best type for GAdv would be a S&S Power tri tower like Dorney's or even a quad tower to keep the lines moving quickly. Also many parks have The Claw type ride now like Dorney and Hershey have and I think GAdv should look at getting one of these rides as well. coasterloverx13
drop tower = but i doubt they will put one in due to the recent kentucky kingdom incident and nothing could replace SMFF
