truepolak90
Just curious, why is the official opening day so long after the preview day? This slide looks very fun, can't wait to try it.
29yrswithaGApass
The slide was promoted as opening "this summer" so to the general public it will open on time when the park goes into daily operation on June 21. Completed ahead of schedule, the park also gets to use the spring weekends to offer season pass holders an extended preview and also encourage visiting guests to purchase a pass and try it out. joeyc98
I'm much more excited to visit Saturday now! I was going to go to Hurricane Harbor expecting it to not be open but i'll get to ride it and with little to no line too!
Yoshi
It's a shame it's going to be cold this weekend for waterparks. The high for both Saturday and Sunday is only 68.
jdc12192
^ If you can deal with being a little chilly, its the time to go since crowds will probably stay away.
jsblumen
Hopefully it is warm enough to go to Hurricane Harbor before then...For now, can't wait to go on Safari Off Road Adventure!
DarkKnight
i will be at opening day at HH. cold does not bother me at all! (:
The Master
Just be careful you don't catch a cold, then be sick when the weather does warm up. Also it sucks that HH won't be open weekdays until near the end of June while the other local waterparks will be open everyday after this weekend. DarkKnight
I went to the theme park instead. I asked my supervisor (head of operations) and he said 16 people showed up at HH for opening day. The park closed at 1pm
29yrswithaGApass
We would have have made it 18 people but arrived just minutes too late!

29yrswithaGApass
I am not exactly sure what they consider as a "preview for season pass holders" but the new slide is not open. It is still under construction... maybe next weekend ...maybe not!
acq10uaz
^The same thing is happening at SFNE right now. Bonzai Pipelines was supposed to have a season pass preview today but it's closed and still "under construction."
29yrswithaGApass
As per the park's facebook page tonight.... The heat wave continues into the weekend, good thing Hurricane Harbor is open! Big Wave Racer will make its debut to 2013 Premium Pass holders tomorrow, so come on out and race your friends!
The Master
As per the park's facebook page tonight.... They could have been open for the whole heatwave like the other local waterparks, oh well.
The Master
Well I rode the new Racer mat slide today, and sadly it's just not really that good. Rode it twice with the SP preview. You had to get wistbands, but every employee I asked told me a different spot but I found it on my on. On my second slide down it the mat shifted on me and I hit my elbow on the slide. After I got off I saw ithe slide had cut me and I was bleeding. Overhead a couple of other sliders complaining about they hit their heads on the slide. Never had a slide cut me before, the only other time I got hurt on a slide was another mat slide at Moreys, which is the reason I don't care for them. jdc12192
Went on BWR today, wasnt impressed. Found it not that thrilling or even fun, just alright.
29yrswithaGApass
I am happy that Hurricane Harbor got the partially enclosed versioin and not the straight out open style slide.
The Master
One of the rare times I disagree with you 29. I prefer the straight open style since they don't trow you around. Of course I prefer inner tubes over mats. Odd thing I noticed is that mat water lides seem to be much more common in other parts of the country while the northeast seems to not have many, and most here are recent. 29yrswithaGApass
I guess I still have the "Adventure Rivers" mentality on slides. Back when the park had the North American Rivers slide most guests avoided it because it was just a glorified sliding board and opted instead for the enclosed tubes. Without the Big Wave Racer's enclosed tubes I could see many guests leaving the mat slides as a last option of things to do as it would make for a much more simple attraction. The Master
Of course a big difference is riders sat in a raft for the North American Rivers slide, while riders lie down face forward on the mats. Because of this mats offer less protection than rafts or inner tubes and why I don't like mat slides very much.
