29yrswithaGApass
81,000-square-foot indoor water park approved for former A.C. casino siteNJ.com July 22, 2015 at 11:37 AM, updated July 22, 2015 at 5:02 PM ATLANTIC CITY — A redevelopment plan that includes the construction of two indoor water parks and a family entertainment center at a former boardwalk casino received approval this week from a state agency that regulates zoning and land use in the city's tourism district. An affiliate of Pennsylvania-based Endeavor Property Group wants to build a roughly 81,000-square-foot indoor water park as part of the project at the former Atlantic Club site. The other water park would be nearly 27,000-square-feet. The Casino Reinvestment Development Authority, or CRDA, approved the preliminary and final site plan for the project at its board meeting on Monday. The Atlantic Club was the first of four casinos to close in Atlantic City last year, further fueling a push to offer more non-gaming attractions in the resort town. Endeavor AC representatives described the project as a step forward in the rebirth and revitalization of Atlantic City during a public hearing earlier this month. Endeavor attorney Jason Sieminski said on Wednesday that the group had no comment right now. CRDA Executive Director John Palmieri said the project is "perfectly consistent with the master plan that we adopted." "All of these kinds of activities that promote entertainment, non-gaming amenities, tourism related improvements," he said, are activities the agency supports. The project includes the construction of the 81,000-square-foot water park on a site that was used as a surface parking lot. The smaller water park would be built by the boardwalk. The plans also include renovating the existing hotel, opening new restaurants and bars and building a year-round beach cafe and seasonal beach bar. A nearly 58,000-square-foot family entertainment center would also be built, according to the group's plans. It's unclear how the group plans to finance the project. The Press of Atlantic City reported the project could cost between $150 to $165 million.
Yoshi
I'm glad to see more family attractions added to Atlantic City, especially for a place to go during the winter. It also looks like it will have more slides than the other NJ indoor waterparks.
29yrswithaGApass
I don't get why it is divided into two separate waterarks. Maybe so they can scale it back in the off season.

Viper26
Puts the Co Co Keys and Hotel M.L. resort to shame with this larger water park resort.
Mrpq
Ill believe this when I am actually standing outside the building. Just because its approved doesn't mean it will ever get finished and open. We all know how some of these projects in NJ have gone
Yoshi
The waterpark is no longer being built: http://www.pressofatlanticcity.com/business/no-water-park-new-sale-for-atlantic-club-owner-says/article_1d1d9760-b33d-11e5-bec8-1b368e349a52.html I'm afraid the same thing is going to happen with the Polercoaster. Mrpq
not surprised at all. AC needs a major overhaul and it seems no one is willing to step up to the plate
Coaster Justin
Not trying to start a rumor but What if they built that at SFGAdv? The park does have 600+ acres left. Just Saying.
The Master
It is a shame it fell though but not surprised.
Yoshi
It looks like the idea is being considered again: https://blooloop.com/link/atlantic-city-casino-waterpark/ I don't know if I am taking the last sentence to literally when it states: "The intention is to keep children entertained while their parents gamble." If they really mean kids in the waterpark while the parents gamble at the same time, I don't know if it will work. Even to go the arcade at Harrah's years ago, 4 floors away from the casino, there was a policy in place that anyone 12 and under had to be there with an adult and anyone 13 - 17 had to have an adult sign them in and out. Maybe that was different since it was in a casino hotel?
dougdrummer
Like others have said, I'll believe it when it's finished. And then hope it doesn't go out of business soon thereafter. For sure the city needs to do more to bring in the families because casinos in PA and DE have substantially reduced gambling revenues, which is why so many casinos have closed in the last couple years. Last year Stockton University had a plan to buy the closed Showboat casino and turn it into a city campus and convert the hotel into dorm rooms. I thought that was a good fit, because Stockton has a big hospitality and tourism program, which my daughter graduated from last year. They were all set to go until one of the existing casinos voted to put the brakes on the plan, so now Showboat continues to sit and rot, just like the Revel next door. Idiots. Bart Blatstien actually bought the Showboat shortly after Stockton sold it and reopened the hotel last summer. The Revel has been renamed to Ten Atlantic City and is planned to open this summer. Occasionally we'll venture down to Resorts to eat at Margaritaville or its sister restaurant. Will Ten Atlantic City be a hotel or condos? The casino is not reopening, is it? Viper26
Will Ten Atlantic City be a hotel or condos? The casino is not reopening, is it? It'll be a hotel with a small casino. From what I remember, Glenn Straub, the new owner of Ten, is planning on building as water park on the property as well.
