Next Thursday, August 1st, Universal will be making a BIG announcement from the Orange County Convention Center at 10:00 AM.

Speculation is they will be announcing the new theme park and unveiling their plans for the next four years. The new them park is expected to open in 2023, and will be the first new theme park to open in the US in quite a while.

I wish Nintendo was bigger, it really deserves its own large area with sub-sections.

I was hoping for a large Legend of Zelda section where you can wander around, climb rocks, fight stuff, and cook random things.  I guess I will have to stick with the National and State parks instead.

For those interested in following the progress of the park here are some great people to follow:

Bioreconstruct on Twitter-- does pretty much weekly flyovers of the park under construction as well as all the Orlando parks:

Alicia Stella's Parkstop website is an amazing place to get all the latest info. She does an amazing job digging through permits and trademarks as well as having a network of sources to keep everyone up to date on all the latest for Epic Universe and all the Universal parks. She uses Biorecontruct's aerial photos and creates videos explaining all that's happening, and if you join her Patreon she shares additional info beyond what she shares in the videos:

Sometimes I can't believe all this is happening literally less than two miles from where I live! I almost thought we had seen the last new theme park built in the US, but Universal is all in on building more and more. Comcast has decided they love the theme park business.

Universal will not be selling single day tickets to Epic Universe

Quote

When sales launch, in order to visit Epic Universe, guests must purchase a multi-day Universal Orlando ticket package with a three-day minimum — all of which allot only one day at Epic Universe and will not include park-hopping to or from the new park. At launch time, there will be no option to purchase a stand-alone, single-day Epic Universe ticket.

I understand why they are doing this as the demand for Epic Universe is going to be extremely high but it's probably a huge disappointment for people who might have only planned the time and/or money for just 1 day at Universal.

Not true-- the only ticket information out so far is travel agent information with initial ticket packages and even that is not giving dates or pricing. Basically they are trying to get people to spend multiple days at the existing three parks with one day at Epic. This is just early information, not all the ticketing information. Most likely single day tickets will be sold primarily as date based tickets so they don't have to have reservations or have to deal with an overcrowded park. Resort guests will probably get more days at Epic or will be able to upgrade to more days at Epic. This will boost the existing parks while controlling the attendance at Epic which could EASILY be overcrowded.

When it comes down to it, I'm sure they will offer additional days to people who buy those ticket packages if they have availability. It's easier to limit the admissions and let more people in than to have to turn people away or have guests get a bad experience in an overcrowded park.

Currently the word is there will initially be no annual passes. I'm guessing current passholders may get discounted single day tickets.

I'm glad to hear that. I thought Attractions Magazine was more reputable (as opposed to the usual clickbait sites like Inside The Magic) but I guess not if they were that wrong.
