This would be new!

What if the lake freezes over?

Why are things so confusing?   Readers of this site probably know better but for the common guest many things can often be confusing. Take for instance the hours of operation at the park. It was advertised that they were going to open on April 1 which I believe is still the plan unless it rains terribly. But look at what both the app and their webpage said for today (Friday).  Safari open?  Theme park opened at 8am?

More bars???? Really????

What happened to Best of the West? Aside from them letting it rot and crumble. it was everybody's favorite restaurant. it was the best themed restaurant. Now it is only open for exclusive events????

Couldn't agree with you more, Robert.  I've been asking these same questions, but really believe that Best of the West will be the next of the park's original iconic structures that will be lost to poor maintenance and ever changing corporate management with little interest in any long range strategies for building the park's and corporate brand.

Bars, as stand alone venues, in my opinion, are completely inappropriate for theme parks.  Sure, I can see alcoholic beverages available with meals, but even in those cases, the primary product served and focus of the restaurant would not be alcohol.

Over the past 25+ years I haven’t seen leaking being a major issue with the BOTW. They have even been trimming and capping the huge logs to stop the spread of rot.  The huge logs were brought in long before treating lumber was an option. Time is taking its toll and the logs unfortunately could be rotting out from the inside just like on Super Tepee.

Hopefully it’s just a business decision to keep the restaurant closed until attendance levels increase. They really haven’t had the need for such a large facility recently.

That would be my best guess regarding Best of the West as well, and I believe I alluded to the log issue as a growing problem similar to the TeePee's somewhere in another post.  It just really saddens me when I think of how much of this park's original charm has been lost to time and inconsistent management decisions over the years
