  1. It is with a very heavy heart that I have to announce the loss of our co-founder, and my friend Harry Applegate. Harry was the heart and soul of Great Adventure History and the park's biggest fan. At this time I'm not sure of what will become of the website and all of our work, but I know that Harry's devotion to Six Flags Great Adventure and the park's past, present, and future will be greatly missed by everyone, me most of all. -Tom
  2. As far as we can tell it was a Zamperla Mini Teacups-- they seem to have made a bulk purchase of rides from Zamperla for the whole LTSP. https://www.zamperla.com/products/mini-tea-cup/
  3. I was assuming these were being reinstalled since the drone video the other day looked like all the gondolas were off. It could be this was taken just before the last ones were removed...
  4. It was a concept that didn't offer enough to do for the price. The issue with any kind of "indoor theme park" concept is the pricing for tickets has to match the number and quality of attractions offered. I think the park at American Dream has/will have the same issue over time.
  5. I'm sure if it had been successful it would have rolled into all the parks, especially those with stunt arenas.
  6. Yeah, I was kind of expecting a full take down and rebuild, but I wonder if things are already being scaled back?
  7. I assume this is the first of the rehabbed gondolas being reinstalled:
  8. Six Flags Great Adventure is asking for people's memories for the 50th Anniversary Celebration. https://app.smartsheet.com/b/form/91353303b9e642c685c756693c4407fa?fbclid=IwAR1HcMQo5yyeZtcNIottevICk01zOwG5wutTUWBaOOlY8vLzIDMuWKAnius It's a nice idea (kind of like what we've been doing for the past 20 years!)
  9. As of today Universal Orlando has eliminated paper maps: I get they're trying to save money on printing, and everyone has a phone, and it's the easiest way to make sure guests have the most current information, but I want a paper map, preferably a poster map even if I have to buy it.
  10. I guess the park has a new spokesperson:
  11. Interesting to see a launched wing coaster going there. I guess it makes sense. Just kind of surprising to see B&M building there and BGW at the same time. They used to have exclusives to certain areas.
  12. Best of the West is my favorite restaurant in the park, and the idea of it just being a lounge is completely ridiculous. Bring it back and make it better!
  13. In the 80's they installed speakers throughout the park, and they have it set up in zones that more or less mirror the themed areas.
  14. Great Adventure used to host all kinds of concerts throughout the summer, and that is something a lot of guests miss...
  15. They pay the same fees to ASCAP whether they play pop music park wide or themed music for each section of the park-- just play music that fits the area.
  16. The park's three indoor rides were great additions, but they really need to be maintained properly.
  17. We know chances are about zero it could happen, but it would be great if the Parachute Tower could be reused for an observation tower.
  18. Waterpark attractions go together in weeks, not months. Other parks easily opened their new waterslides and attractions without issue.
  19. It's taking WAY too long to build new attractions. The picture I chose was Hurricane Harbors new for 2023 attraction at the end of the season. There's no excuse for not getting things open when it's a simple, off the shelf attraction...
  20. Hurricane Harbor was state of the art and a world class waterpark when it opened, with amazing theming. Over time it has lost most of that and become more generic. It's time to retore the park to its former glory.
  21. With only two water rides left in the park, they are both important. Roaring Rapids needs a thorough refurbishment and some upgrades.
