Possibly we could try to restart the forums to something free to run like a Discord or a Facebook group and have the website direct you there, it could be an alternative if the forums has to go.
That is a possibility, I just have to figure out if there's really enough community to support it. As it is we've seen traffic drop off on here to the point that we debated whether to go forward with the Forums before all this. Since we have a Facebook page already established (although I didn't post in it nearly enough) I think a FB group might be the solution.

Just want to let everyone know I'm currently trying to figure out the path forward with the website.
I don't think most people realize the devotion that Harry had to it, paying hundreds of dollars a year to keep the site and forums running. I should be able to migrate most of the website onto my own hosting, but I can't continue to pay for the Forum and Gallery hosting, and since it was all in Harry's name, I don't currently have access to the Invision hosting for it.
At some point, the Forums and Galleries will just close, probably without any warning. I hope that I can salvage the sources files for all the photos and videos in the gallery and find a new way to post them all.
Please, if you are on Facebook, "like" the page to stay up to date on future developments and arrangements.

I hope to continue the site in some capacity, but I'm still not sure what that looks like yet.

It is with a very heavy heart that I have to announce the loss of our co-founder, and my friend Harry Applegate.Harry was the heart and soul of Great Adventure History and the park's biggest fan.At this time I'm not sure of what will become of the website and all of our work, but I know that Harry's devotion to Six Flags Great Adventure and the park's past, present, and future will be greatly missed by everyone, me most of all.-Tom

As far as we can tell it was a Zamperla Mini Teacups-- they seem to have made a bulk purchase of rides from Zamperla for the whole LTSP.

Budgeting between one year and the next.

I was assuming these were being reinstalled since the drone video the other day looked like all the gondolas were off. It could be this was taken just before the last ones were removed...

It was a concept that didn't offer enough to do for the price. The issue with any kind of "indoor theme park" concept is the pricing for tickets has to match the number and quality of attractions offered. I think the park at American Dream has/will have the same issue over time.

I'm sure if it had been successful it would have rolled into all the parks, especially those with stunt arenas.

Yeah, I was kind of expecting a full take down and rebuild, but I wonder if things are already being scaled back?

It's looking like a fun new coaster!

I assume this is the first of the rehabbed gondolas being reinstalled:

Six Flags Great Adventure is asking for people's memories for the 50th Anniversary Celebration.
It's a nice idea (kind of like what we've been doing for the past 20 years!)

As of today Universal Orlando has eliminated paper maps:
I get they're trying to save money on printing, and everyone has a phone, and it's the easiest way to make sure guests have the most current information, but I want a paper map, preferably a poster map even if I have to buy it.

I guess the park has a new spokesperson:

Interesting to see a launched wing coaster going there. I guess it makes sense. Just kind of surprising to see B&M building there and BGW at the same time. They used to have exclusives to certain areas.

Best of the West is my favorite restaurant in the park, and the idea of it just being a lounge is completely ridiculous. Bring it back and make it better!

In the 80's they installed speakers throughout the park, and they have it set up in zones that more or less mirror the themed areas.

Great Adventure used to host all kinds of concerts throughout the summer, and that is something a lot of guests miss...

They pay the same fees to ASCAP whether they play pop music park wide or themed music for each section of the park-- just play music that fits the area.

The park's three indoor rides were great additions, but they really need to be maintained properly.

Rumor of the Simpsons maybe leaving Universal.
in Industry Rumors

It's a VERY strong possibility. Looks like end of 2024 is most likely timeline with Pokemon replacing it in 2027.
Universal is ALL IN on Nintendo at this point, and Simpsons contract expires end of 2028. The ride system is old and needs replacement and they've made as much money as they could from the franchise. Marvel's contract is essentially in perpetuity unless Universal wants to break it or doesn't keep thing to the standards set in it.
