  2. Still a good idea..they used to shut down Roling thunder, Runnay Mine train, and Sky ride..for Fireworks in the area,,back in the day.
  3. Ann and Andy, the Keystone Cops, And the stilt walkers Cocco and Cocco Jr. Seriously..Wouldnt it be neat to see them on Plaza and Dream Street again..lets go real retro and bring the Great Arena Show back...This would draw guests into the area..ANd move the concerts to the Stunt Show Area of Movietown....Dang! now if John listens ..Seeing how he is a former host ..Long Flume noless
  4. I like..and for the kicker...build a stage in the old Water Stunt show and have the whole bugs bunny dance show thing there...Just a thought...
  5. The perfect spot would have been "The Woodland Gardens"..before it got destroyed...
  6. well kinda ....it was located behind the shoot out..but Right stuff and music hall for sure....
  7. Ok heres a thought..everyone is posting about the tower. why not build a outter cricle like the carosel and place the wave Swinger panels on it restored and working. Thus making the ride themed to the area, and paying dues to the fomer Flying Wave. Ive been on a few and the swings do not begin moving till at least a third of the way up the tower. if not all te way up. Just a thought.....
  8. I was just doing reserach on this book ...Having just read the spotlight on "Building a Great Adventure"...yep read it..And a must read for any GA fan past or present. The book also talks about the designer living inNy, And taking a helicopter to the park. ANd a restarubt thaat looks like the Kremlin ...And more if you own it read it again. If you dont get a copy.
  9. Fantastic update. And a true hommage to Warner LeRoy for the dream. To Hardwicke for the funds to see it thru. To engineers who designed and drew the blueprints. The construction works who turly made it a labor of love. Taking one mans simple sketches, and bring them to life. To the detail artists for the beauty of the art in the finihes. The costume designer, the great area and aqua spectial show directors, The clowns, the characters of dream street. To the cast. All who helped bring it to life and make it the most "Amazing Dream Come True". We thank you. And you always will contiue to "Have your own Great Adventure".
  10. Run Away Mine Train....Whilw the others are great coasters. The Runaway Mine Train has the best theming all around...ANd has been a round the longest. Many readers are to young to remember a toy called Fort Appache by Marks toys. It was a playset from the 60s . And boys had one and also a HO train set..Well put the two together and youve got the concept of the The Runaway Mine Train. And and remember the overall theme created by Warner Le Roy was just that as things appear thru a childs point of view So it there for deserves the award.
  11. Id say the worst one was Super Side Winder..Boring. My favorite was the log flume..followed by the Runaway Mine TRain, then Western Cable cars. And finely Hockin Swipit, Sir Wilden Wooly and last raggady andy....
  12. Thanks. Glad you all find it interesting. And here's another- Fun Fair was created and designed by Warner LeRoy. The park expansion was planned during the 1974 season. And has the same circle shape as Strawberry Fair and follows the original proposeal in the area known as "The Enchanted Forest".
  13. I do belive there is little if any about the attraction. The only shall we say proof. Is word of mouth and that came from Frank a ops supervisor. And was at park level. ANd my understanding is that it was placed in Fortune Festival as a draw ...Seeing as there would be a great big hole in the middle. And Fun FAir Could stand on its own as is.
  14. Im inpressed! But Im working on a Miniture of the 1974 Enchated Forrest Using Lemax Carival, Mr. Chirtsmas Worlds Fair. Lincoln logs. And hand Built structures. Ive completed Most of the Rides and Yum Yum Palace. Ill be posting the pictures in the next few mths.
  15. Believe it or not it was to be part of the Over the Rainbow section. In the area which was to house four antique carousels in the original plans. But when the plans were revamped it was put in storage and was planned as the centerpiece for Fun Fair. Dream Street had the Carousel and Fountain, and Strawberry Fair the Giant Wheel. If you look at the maps you can visualize it in the center surrounded by all the formal flower beds and trees and the calliope filling the air. Ahhh how spectacular!
  16. Favorite. Ok Enterprise I. The long space shaped cars with sliding doors...Nice finish inside and heavy padded sits and back cushion.....Creating a conmfortable ride. And easy entry. The log flume logs Originals long and deep with sitting for up to 6.
  17. Those were pretty neat and they did fit into the Strawberry Fair section really well. I worked the log flune in 1974 and we had burgandy pants a cowbow shirt which was cream with brown bucking borncos all over it and a burgandy shoulder s and coller. with braiding tiem. And a tan cowboy hat with a dark broen band with ref stones in it. Our shoes we were alowed were squared toe cowboy boots. yea hoo partner! Oour bages were Red with the balloon letter logo and our names and host or hostess below. all carved into the name tag.
  18. Thank you. I did forget to say i wouldnt remove the main gate just rework the original back to its 74-75 look. I have other ideas but that would involve more cash flow.
  19. Lets see. There are manythings I would undo before id expand. First, Restore the Lion to the entrance area. Re-work the Main Street plaza into a food court. Restore Yum-Yum, Gingerbread FAncy, Best of the West back to thier Orgional look and menus. Removel all the connecting buildings to the four tents and restore the entrance plaza canopy. And replace the original top but ths time with Dream Street logo. Build the fifth tent. And restore the shops. but retheme them to make the current. Work on the Space between the Caroseal and Fountain by adding shops. example a Magic Shop by the Houdinni, Return Hat,Hats, Remove some concrete and replant with flower gardens and trees. Bring a live Band act back to the "Band Stand by the Lake". Simple yes but a good start to restoring the park. And comming closer to the orgional plans. And one more very inportant thing...use the Original Logo and then go back to the "Great Adventure" Presented by Six Flags.
  20. When the park fist opened it went like this- You entered the park by ths four tents. Music was from the calliope and it was loud. In the area were Raggedy Ann and Andy who would meet and greet. The Keystone Cops chased a gorilla in and around the meery go round. Coco the Clown was on his stilts with clowns everywhere. The first bandstand by the fountain had a band and by Gingerbrad Fancy was Bango Ron playing Dixieland on the patio. The Bandstand by the Lake had two bands- the girls band and then a group called Prodigy. But the enterainment was always live no canned background stuff. Warner LeRoy wouldn't hear of it. And no matter where you turned there was some form of entertainment going on- all day and up to park closing.
