  1. Even the Ebay Auction doesn't seem to be getting much attention. Most everyone knows that Scream Machine knocks you around a bit, so even though they know its closing, they still don't want to ride it. At least they're getting advance notice about it closing, unlike Chiller (but it was evident that Chiller was done when it was rarely open)
  2. QUOTE(CoasterPrince @ Jul 12 2010, 05:04 PM) Whoa. Christian your the guy who created Illum Hills?! I used to read every update. Great park! Yeah that was my first RCT3 park. I used to have so much free time that I would always have an update (I had storylines planned through Year 12) but I'm too busy now. I am working on it from time to time, so another update may be coming soon! ]
  3. Scream Machine was never really themed to the Boardwalk, I don't expect the new ride to be either considering Superman is right next door and doesn't fit in to the theme. The public won't really care that the theme fits as long as it's a fun and enjoyable ride. It's awesome when rides are also themed with a cool storyline and are, but it costs a lot of money to do, and really only few parks can do it. I'm not expecting Expedition Everest, but I'm not expecting generic Nitro theming either. The only things that are really theme-able are the entrance, line, and station though, so I wouldn't write off theming yet.
  4. I'm a little wary of jumping to conclusions with Green Lantern. With all of the small little budget cutbacks we've been seeing across the entire park and chain, I don't think paying license fees would be seen as a justifiable expense in the eyes of Weber. We're already shelling out lots of money (as far as I know) for DC, Looney Tunes, Warner Brothers, and the Wiggles every year. On the other, Weber did preside over the installation of licensed rides such as the Italian Job into Paramount Parks and they were decently themed, so maybe having another DC themed ride wouldn't be so bad. But I'm still totally against that though, I'd like to see an original name with matching theming. Kind of like my design in RCT3 for Black Hole (which is also a Stand-up, but a Shockwave clone), it's black with white supports and themed to a testing facility (much like Mach 1). Maybe I'll get back into RCT3 and make my own vision of Chang at Great Adventure! EDIT: Just an idea of how Green track could go with my Aftershock idea:
  5. Though Scream Machine is a major loss to the park, the Simulator Ride had such great capacity with both the ride and preshow areas being able to handle large amounts of crowds. Plus the theater was a great place to go during hot days to escape the heat and it was one of the few operating rides during thunderstorms. I'll always miss the Right Stuff in the theater too, as well as the loss of Elvira during Fright Fest.
  6. The signs were placed there only a few days after the outer mall sign was placed. I got my last ride in yesterday and boy did it beat the daylights out of me and my girlfriend. I did see numerous survey markings all the way out to the ride's entrance plaza, which is great considering the amount of space that it takes up should be developed into a nice entryway for the new coaster.
  7. It'll probably be cut to pieces since it's worth more to scrap than to sell. They saw how Shockwave never sold for years and are probably going to rip it to pieces like Viper. Many people will point out that Chiller was taken apart carefully, but that's because it already had a buyer lined up and the ride still has some life left in it (if you fix all of the wiring and design flaws, that is.) As for the trains, I'm surprised they listed all 3 for sale instead of sending one to California for parts, unless Viper is next on the chopping block
  8. Great to see you too Harry! It was a beautiful day out, but I was more comfortable in the office!

  10. A used coaster is a smart move money wise as they are not laying down millions of dollars just for the coaster itself. All they need to do is pay for the painting, construction, and landscaping, saving lots and lots of money. This is the beauty of ride rotation (and clones) as all of the design stages are past and all they need to do is mark out the area for the ride and begin construction. Plus this leaves plenty of capital for new flats to come into the park as well. It doesn't have to be new to be an awesome addition, that's my feeling. Sometimes relocated rides do much better in their new homes than in their old parks.
  11. Next year will most likely be what '99 was, a selection of flats added to the park with a major coaster to anchor it. Since the coaster does not need to be purchased and installation costs will be minimal as all of the engineering and marking of the footers can be recycled from Kentucky, there is still a lot left in the budget for some rides to fill in around the empty spaces in the park. There may not be as many as first planned, but it's likely there will still be some coming. Don't forget that new capital will also be available as the company just got relisted on the NYSE, so even if they aren't coming next year, there will be even more funds available for the 2012 season.
  12. Well now, the plot thickens... and to think my April Fools joke was that Chang going to Great America was to keep it secret and that it was actually being shipped here for installation, what are the odds that it was going to be true?
  13. You never know, maybe they'll block off the entrance to the ride with our favorite arachnid come July 1st
  14. Really, anything post-2000 on any network is deplorable and a disgrace to the networks that once had some of the best cartoon lineups out there. I remember when Saturday mornings were worth getting up early to watch Fox Kidsfor Eek the Cat, Bobby's World, and the original Power Rangers, then switching over to Cartoon Network to watch some Dexter and Looney tunes, then finally make my way to Nick for Rocko, Doug, and Rugrats. Sometimes I'd shake it up with Kids WB in place of Fox because of Batman, Freakazoid, and Bonkers being awesome shows. Kids today have such dumbed down programming that it's just painful to watch
  15. It's time has come. Though many people will be sad to see it go and such, it's really showing it's age in comparison to faster, smoother, and all around better rides. It cannibalized parts from Shockwave's trains but even now I'm sure that they've used them up and are now running out of options. If a new attraction such as a large stand up were coming, then they are right to put it in Scream Machine's footprint as it takes up a MASSIVE amount of space right now. There is plenty of breathing room too with the Boardwalk as the lead up to GASM's entrance is pretty much nothing but pavement and a sausage stand with the parachutes on the other side. I think when it's all said and done, it will lead to a nice revitalization of that end of the boardwalk. The only thing that would be left to do would be to tear out the Simulator building and Eruption for some flats.
  16. A great spotlight, this touches off a lot of memories of the park. That was the year I turned 10 and I was so excited that with all the additions to the park. I remember riding Time Warp with my worried parents looking on and then going over to Houdini for the first time. That was really a great year for the park, probably my favorite. Thanks for putting together a great spotlight!
  17. Mr. Six is a great advertising tool, it's a shame they ever got rid of him in the first place. The More Flags, More Fun campaign was alright, but it lacked that fun appeal that Mr. Six had for the entire family. By combining the two, the response will be much more positive from the public, especially if he's walking around the park and they bring back the Streetmosphere characters from a few years back.
  18. We had thunderstorms, but there was really only 3 or so Severe ones that I can recall. The most severe was the one that occurred on a Sunday and took out Toro. I was at Hurricane Harbor and it was like there was a real hurricane going on as it just poured and poured with the wind going nuts outside. Everyone in the park was told to take shelter at Island Traders that day.
  19. This is true! They also have volleyball nights as well, so I've seen these lights on before. Usually there are private events after the park closes to the public so the lights are turned on for it! It looks so cool when the lights are on, I wish they did have an after-dark in the park event! Those lights are extremeley bright enough for it, I wish I had a picture.
  20. It's an amusement park, not the CIA . The GA passes work such that it will only scan once a day at each park. You can't simply walk outside the exit and give it to someone to use! I like the passes we use now, one easy scan of the barcode and you're all set. This season was a bit different with the Premium and Regular passes, there wasn't much difference to me except a different coupon book and restricted access to certain events. Oh and a note on Season Passes, they've moved SP processing to the VIP Center by the Front Gate, I'm pretty sure permanently. So when you purchase a pass during Fright Fest or go early next season, that's the place you want to be!
  21. That window is for our protection, and its far from bulletproof, and the microphone is so we can hear you better. Because we deal with guest problems and complaints, people can get pretty threatening towards us sometimes. We deal with problems accordingly and we work to resolve it. If you were injured at the park, most likely we would have told you to visit first aid or have them come to you to help you out. Sorry that you feel this way about it, but if you worked there for one night, you'd understand why we have safety measures in place. We're not there to fight you, we're there to help you and sort out a problem. Sometimes we can resolve the problem, and other times we can't.I try to make sure that any guest that comes to my window leaves happy, but it doesn't happen all the time.
  22. I'm not exactly sure what the policies are for the SF Mastercard, my advice is to call the GR office (732-928-2000 ext 2838) and usually there is someone there that will know what to do for your situation (I know, typical "just call us" but trust me, we do pick up the phone!). I may not know, but I'll try and find out! I'm not totally opposed to a GR thread, but give me more time to learn everything :-P ^Nah, I love my job, its great to help people with things about the park! Thanks!
