  1. If you have a strap for them to firmly attach it to your head, then you're good to go, otherwise, you'll have to store them in a locker.
  2. Thanks! I'm also going to help with VIP tours because of my knowledge of the park, I owe some of that knowledge to you guys! So Thank you!
  3. I'm not sure if this is the right place, but oh well. I'm working at Guest Relations this summer so I'll be sure to try and make everyone leave the park with a smile!
  4. I work at Guest Relations, so I'll gladly help you out! My advice is to get a Gold Flashpass if you would like to ride everything. With these very hot days, such as the past 2 days, not waiting in the hot queue is a big plus and the wait time is cut by 75%, if you're interested in it, I suggest going online to http://www.sixflags.com/greatAdventure/tic.../flashpass.aspx and reserving one, but you must arrive before 12PM, or your reservation for the pass will be cancelled. Instead of running to Kingda Ka first, go to the Flashpass center right by Fort Independence (the dolphin show) and get in line as people will rush to the center itself and a long wait will develop. They do sell out quick so that's why I suggest the online reservation. If you get a Gold Flashpass, you will certainly get to ride Kingda Ka and El Toro and every major attraction at the park! As for flats, this year we have Buccaneer, Fantasy Fling, Jolly Roger, Big Wheel, Carousel, Fly me to the Moon, Parachutes, Tango, Teacups, and the Skyride. We no longer have the Flying Wave, Spinmeister, Autobahn, Musik Express, and Freefall. There is still many things to do to occupy your day though! I highly suggest the Tiger Show and the Dolphin Show as both are very entertaining and let you sit and relax. If you are coming on the weekend, I HIGHLY suggest you stay for the Glow in the Park parade, you will not regret it! The Dark Knight, depending upon the day, will have a wait time of at least 30 minutes as it is a new attraction. Due to the popularity of new attractions, there will be long lines for it throughout the season, so that's another reason to get a Flashpass! Seriously, it will make your day that much better! Superman also tend to get long lines because of a longer load/unload cycle, so you may want to do that earlier in the day before the bulk of the crowds arrive after 12pm. As for Hotels, the Six Flags website has the closest hotels listed and there are packages that they can arrange for you to get. Visit http://hotels.sixflags.com/1738_welcome.html for this information! Also, parking is 15 dollars, but if you'd like to park closer and not have to walk as far to get to your car, I suggest getting preferred parking which is only 10 dollars more (I know 25 dollars is a lot, but after a full day of walking around the park, it's nice not to have to walk all the way across the lot and then try and find your car!) If you have any other questions, feel free to ask me or anyone else here, I know we'll all be glad to help!
  5. That is correct, and if you ever have any questions about park hours, stop an employee as our sidekicks have the operating calendar on the first page!
  6. Theme elements break, people vandalize them, or they need to be removed for such purposes as putting in a flashpass line. Nobody in 1993 could've envisioned the park having a virtual ride reservation system, so the park had to improvise when creating a line just for flashpass.
  7. Actually when I was young I thought there actually was a barber shop in there, my was I an impressionable kid. I'm going to say false, it's more of just a playful theme element that many people don't get to walk by this year because of the Grandstand's lack of show and the closing off of the Lakefront path due to the building of BBNP in '06 which is a real shame.
  8. Oh boy! Now we can get upside-down wedgies!
  9. Does it really?! Haha, that's even better! I'm not a big fan of the 900s, so I'll let someone more adventurous than me go for that one
  10. My brother and I took a trip to the park on Tuesday, I'm only going to post photos and captions since I don't want to write a full TR, enjoy! 11. I just gotta go with Batman, that whole city they made with the lights was just great, complete with the Batsignal!
  12. They would be smart to move it to Magic Mountain. They've already paid for the licensing, building, track, and design fees, it'd be a shame to let it all go to waste. This way, every part of the nation can experience the ride. One on the West Coast, one in the middle of the nation, and one on the East Coast. It always boggled my mind why they would put one in SFNE when they had GAdv not too far away.
  13. People Me Amanda Amanda's Mom Amanda's Friend Amanda's Friend's Mom Josh Josh's Mom and Company Dainan Walter & Jackie Rides The Dark Knight-3 Batman-2 Nitro-2 Skull Mountain-1 Buccaneer-1 El Toro-1 Medusa-1 Kingda Ka-1 Skyride-1 After working to 4, I was allowed to go to the park and meet up with Amanda and Josh to hang out. Originally the plan was to go to Hurrican Harbor after work, but when I had to work later than I thought, I went to the regular park instead. I get there and the parking attendant was very happy and cheery, thanking me for coming to the park and smiling. The lot wasn't very full, but there were a lot of cars in the lot. I ended up parking by GASM and walked over to the entrance. Many people were leaving the park and none of them seem disappointed or upset by their visit. Signs were all over advertising the new Glow in the Park parade but I wasn't really expecting that much from it. I got into the park quickly, I noticed that they have made many of the gates Re-Entry, so no more waiting at the side gate to come back in if you leave! I went and met Amanda at the fountain and met her mom, her friend, and her friend's mom. We traveled over to Movietown so Amanda could get her first ride on TDK. The preshow was awesome as usual and everything still seems to be going smoothly. the line advanced quickly and we boarded. The ride was running very well, except now they are trimming it before the drops. I have to memorize the camera location so I can make my trademark BuddyChrist pose! Amanda loved it and I'm glad she did so I'm not the only one! Since we were in the neighborhood, we grabbed a ride on Movietown's first roller coaster, Batman. 2nd row, intense as ever, I hope this ride never leaves. We then wandered over to Nitro, taking pictures as we went along. We get up the ramp and I show him my pass, but he tells me that the policy is now that I can take only me and one other person. I was a little disconcerted because that's the policy for Special Access and not VIG. I was told that it was for 4 people but I obliged and didn't make a scene, so it was just Amanda and I. We ran into Dan who was checking restraints and working at Nitro this year. The ride was great, floater airtime everywhere. We got off and headed down the ramp and met up with her mom and her friend and we walked over to Skull Mountain. We went up the exit ramp again and I was again told "You and one other person", so her friend declined to ride. Skull Mountain had the original soundtrack going. The lights were on the skull and pumpkin and the death metal was playing inside. The strobes didn't go off until we were at the end of the ride though. From Skull Mountain, we walked along the Lakefront and Amanda said hi to one of her friends at Fort Independence and we decided to go on Buccaneer since the lone was short. This has been my favorite flat ever since they took out Taz Twister (RIP). I made goofy faces and help up two peace signs like I was our great former President Richard Nixon. We then walked along the Lakefront until we went up and through the Golden Kingdom and did El Toro. We rode in the back row and the ride was really running well, probably one of best rides I've had on it since it's been at the park. We then met up with Josh and decided to head over to Medusa. I went up with Josh, Amanda, and Amanda's Friend, and again we were told me and one other person, so it was just Josh and me for this one. Medusa is always a good ride, though it should really get a paint job for next season (I always make this point in my TRs). We walked down the ramp and took some pictures. I gave Amanda a piggyback ride over to where her mother was sitting and then I carried her over to Plaza del Carnaval. My arms got tired (I need to sculpt my guns at the office more) so I had to put her down. We walked over to the Golden Kingdom to go ride Kingda Ka. We ran into Dainan, Walter, and Jackie and we chatted and took some pictures with them and then parted ways. I took Amanda to ride Kingda Ka since it was pretty apparent that my VIG is only good for 2 people now (I understand though, many people think its unfair that I don't have to wait in line and deny them from boarding the train for another 2 minutes. I think it's unfair that I have to live with a medical condition that has sent me to the hospital 8 or so times this past year and that waiting in line could make me collapse again and go to the hospital totally paralyzed and be told again that this is something I have to live with forever. So yeah, thats a totally equal tradeoff, don't you think?) Where was I, oh yes, Kingda Kya. We got on the 2nd car of CP Beat It and took off. It didn't go very fast over the tophat, but it wasn't unbearably rough. At this point, I walked with Amanda, Josh, and company down to Main Street. We had to say goodbye to Amanda so I bid them a fond farewell. Josh and I walked over to Movietown to get a ride on The Dark Knight. We get in and watch the awesome Preshow again, then we board the ride and ride in the front. The girls in back of us thought it sucked, and I said "Would you rather have just the track and trains with nothing at all? Give credit where credit is due." [rant]I mean seriously, they put effort into making this more than a Wild Mouse, and people are basically spitting in the face of management because it's not thrilling enough. The public is really spoiled with our coaster line-up. Unless it goes 70 mph or upside down, they hate it. I really wish they would stop saying that it was a terrible decision. A terrible decision would've been just to plop down a wild mouse with no theming whatsoever. They took the time and effort to add a preshow, enclose it, and put different scenes around the different turns. At least it's not like Mulholland Madness so don't say Disney could do better.[/rant] From there we decided to go onto the skyride to take some pictures of the park and meet up with Josh's mom for the parade. We walked around the park and then settled around Main Street to watch the new Glow in the Park Parade. We waited as they put the chains up and then watched the lights go off around the park. We waited for them to shut off the music and though they had a few kinks with getting the parade soundtrack going, it was really awesome. As for the parade itself, In one word, Glow in the Park is: AMAZING I was expecting a good parade full of lights and music, but it totally blew me away. The music was perfect, the costumes were awesome, the performers were energetic, and the floats were fantastic, and the public seemed to love it. It was very Disney-esque and as soon as they organize the route a little better, it will be perfect. I'll have a video up soon if my computer will behave. Pictures won't do it justice, you just have to see it! So after the parade, I said goodbye to Josh and his family and headed over to Movietown to grab a night ride on Nitro. I love Nitro at night because the track takes you away from the lights of the park and its so dark. Its even better on a clear night as you race under the stars and float over the hills. After getting off Nitro, it was 9:50. I walked over to Batman and the entrance was still open, so I walked into an almost empty station and found Dainan, Walter, and Jackie waiting for the back row. I hop on with them and the ride was running so insane that Walter was in love. Dave (Beethoven, Magical Chiller) was operating and we all went over to greet him. We left Batman and wanted to hop on Dark Knight. We got on and it was a great ride, I even spotted a new scene at the bottom of one of the drops with Batman breaking through a wall on the Batpod. This scene was not there last week and I swear they must have just put it in. So, if you're still reading this, I got off the ride with Dainan, Walter, and Jackie and all of us thoroughly enjoyed it. I walked with Dainan out of the park exit, kinda bummed there was no High Five line, but they have jobs to do so I'll let it pass. We parted ways and I made the trip home though there was a ton of traffic on 537 but clear on 195. In conclusion, wow this is a long TR, my memory is good :-P, I had an awesome day even if I didn't get there until 4:30. I finally got to see Amanda for the first time since CAD last year, I got to hang out with Josh and experience the amazingness of Glow in the Park, and I got to see Dainan who I haven't seen since TDK's media day! Such great memories, this has been the highlight of the year so far! On to the photos, if you made it through my thorough trip report Arriving at the gate Ads for Glow in the Park are up everywhere, Everyone should go see it! Nope, definitely sunset They have a truck with chains that hook onto the garbage cans. 14. This picture reminds me of post-apocalyptic movies, "There are tubes, but there are no more people Great Report Harry, too bad I had to work in the morning or I would've been at the water park as well!
  15. Didn't they use that robot in Rocky IV too? That was a nice commercial, I really miss the days of simple park footage and not a bunch of CGI and people yelling "MORE FLAGS!"
  16. I'm going to say it's the old security booth over by the gate to Old Country (It's now the Cabana Rental Stand though). Sure looks like it.
  17. Thanks, but the photos don't do the park justice, it really is a nice place to visit and I recommend it to all of my friends!
  18. For some reason, I feel compelled to take a picture of Batman and include it in every TR I do. Oh tradition! I think it should open earlier than Memorial Day since it was so hot today under the sun! Numero Uno, on my list Floater Air is the little bro of Ejector, it just wants the same attention! Look, Hillary Clinton's Happy Time Campaign Coaster! 19. Dark Knight Opening and Park Update 5/15/08! Rides The Dark Knight-3 Batman-1 Nitro-2 Kingda Ka-1 El Toro-2 Superman-1 Hard Rockin' Skull Mountain-1 Medusa-1 Runaway Train-1 I took another trip out to the park today to see The Dark Knight open! I got to the park around 9:30 and saw a ton of buses in the parking lot, it was student council day! So there were a lot of students in the park all day. At 10:30 the ribbon dropped and word had got out that the Dark Knight was opening today, so there was a rush of people over to Movietown. We arrived to find a chain holding us back and were told the Public wouldn't be allowed to ride until 11:20. We sat through the Media Event and watched as Mark Kane opened the ride. I had to sit down due to medical reasons, so I told security and they let me sit on the bench in front of the chain. My friend Josh, who was invited to media day, came over and told me to go with him, so I did. I'll split this into three sections: The Outdoor Queue Despite there being no buildings on the exterior of the walls (I really hope they add them soon, plain blue sky just doesn't cut it, I want to see Gotham City!), the queue was very spacious and VERY landscaped. It was nice to look at and had a switchback to accomodate the crowds. The Preshow When you reach the Gotham City Rail building, you enter and find a terminal for Gotham. It has a big screen with a news report playing and two screens scrolling updates from the city. You see a newspaper dispenser with the headline "CITY AT WAR" next to you and a ticket booth. They even have a fake rat in there! You sit through a news conference with Harvey Dent, who goes through his plan for bringing justice to the mob and he starts talking about Batman at which point, the feed gets interrupted and the Joker laughs and you see a very quick and random assortment of clips flash on the TV, ending up with the words "WHAT ARE YOU WAITING FOR?" on the screen and HAHA all over the walls. You then see flashing lights and enter into the station: The preshow is my favorite part of the whole ride. The Ride You enter into the station and see a bank of screens and telephones, joker cards all over the place. They have a neat monitor towards the end of the walkway that superimposes a clown mask over your own. The cars never stop moving, and loading and unloading moves fast. You get into your Gotham Rail car ( which is quite comfy) and head up the lift. Flickering lights are all that you see, except for one of the hairpin turns that sticks out over the lift. You drop off the lift and go past the Gotham times building, then down a corridor with HAHA scrawled all over. you then see joker's goons on screens and then you see them with an RPG and a Gotham Police Station in flames(not real though). You drop down a level and go past a truck that has strobes and gunfire sounds. Then you go over the hills and there isn't much more after that. All in all, it's a pretty good mouse ride and I'm glad Great Adventure put it in, I just wish there was more theming in it, but I'm satisfied with the amount in there. Overall, the whole ride/preshow is 8/10 in my book. I rerode it 3 times throughout the day and caught most of what was to be seen. It's great for older kids and families and what Great Adventure needs to appeal to. After leaving the Dark Knight, Josh introduced me to Park President Mark Kane and I talked with him. He's a really nice guy and he's doing a great job at turning the park around. He asked me if I missed Water Effect and with how good TDK came out, I really didn't. If you ever see him around the park, be sure to stop him and say hello, he's really good to talk to and he's willing to listen to your opinion! Josh, his father, and I headed over to Nitro and rode. Always a great ride, I'm a sucker for floater which explains why it's my top coaster. After that, we headed to go to the skyride, but it broke as soon as we got there. We headed down Dream Street and then I split off from Josh. I went over to El Toro and grabbed a ride in the back, full of ejector as always! :airtimer: After that, I headed over to Kingda Ka and found it broken down and only running one side of the station. I headed over to Superman since I hadn't ridden it yet and got on in the 5th row. I will say that Superman is fun, but I just want to go on a bigger flyer like Tatsu. I headed over to Scream Machine to find all the trains sitting on the break run and in the station, so it was broken. I decided to head to Kingda Ka and try to get on again. I got on the Green train in the 4th row and it rattled around a bit, but it was still a pretty good ride otherwise. I went over to Medusa and got on the second row, really smooth today! The queue was packed so you know the park was really crowded! So I head across the park, crowds everywhere, but happy crowds I might add! Everyone was having a good time despite the hot weather and operations were going well, Scream Machine was back operating again, but I saved my neck the pain of riding. I decided to head over to TDK and get another ride on TDK. As I'm heading over, I run into Jay (ElToroExtreme). It seems Jay was supposed to be part of media day but had something come up, but that fell through, so he was at the park by himself, so I told him to tag along with me! We went over to TDK and went into the awesome preshow again and went through the ride a second time. I like Batman alot so I think this coaster is cool and perfect for the little ones who are still watching Batman and Justice League. After that, we head over to the always intense Batman and get on second row. After Batman we went onto the Skyride and decided to do RMT for the credit. It smashed my arm pretty good, but I'll live. We went onto El Toro and got on the 5th car, always tons of Ejector air. We started off to go to TDK another time as I had to go soon. Jay realized he lost his wallet, so we went to lost and found but it wasn't there, so we went back into the park and rode TDK again and from there I had to leave, so I bid farewell to the park and I hope to be back there soon, maybe even in its employment And it was nice meeting you Harry, I hope you had a great day! Uh-oh, pre-packaged 2-hour lines Steel skyline Today's the day! No buildings on the wall, I hope they put them up! G4 was there reporting, of course they taped me shouting "Dark Knight WOOOO!" I'm sure when I run for some political office they'll use it against me I see you Dainan Huge crowd restrained by a small chain All the hubbub Park President Mark Kane Streamers that fell onto the crowd Nice Random Nitro Shot Going into the Preshow Inside the Preshow room The newscast that's playing Theming! Last year's lost and found loot is now theming The exit to the station platform Ticket booth, look a rat! Harvey Dent Joker leaves his mark He really went to town Elevator to hell? Josh say "Look, theming!" Sure enough, there was theming Old Chiller switches? For a while, no mask would show on my face, guess it's scary enough as it is! Wayne Knight sponsored this station Joker Cards were everywhere See? that won't last long with the GP Sorry for the blur Coaster Car They're in constant motion so don't trip! Creepy Ride's exit If you look up, you can see the ride! Papers outside by the photo booth I vill rule you all, any qvestions? The public fills the queue And the rest of Movietown Hardcore landscaping Artsy
  20. To be honest, I really can't stand these commercials. My parents told me that it's so obnoxious with the guy screaming "ONE FLAG" that they just change the channel. I never thought I'd say this, but I miss Mr. Six.
  21. I'm gonna guess different animals from the safari?
  22. ^For some reason, I have this feeling that, should Six Flags ever go bankrupt and forced to sell, Time Warner may take over the chain again, or just buy the most important parks in the chain (to me, that includes SFMM, SFGAm, and SFGAdv) and brand them like Warner Bros. Movieworld. But that doesn't seem at all likely with new management making things better and better!
  23. I cant wait to see it! Batman coming out of the garage and the Batmobile driving itself, and those big explosions! I can't wait to see it again!
