  1. ^That last part is most certainly true. I have a feeling that since they're resurrecting an entire portion of the park, they're going to add something big. At this point, an RMC or a Wingrider (lift or launched) are equally likely; Just because SF hasn't invested much into each ride for a while doesn't mean they can't now. There have been instances throughout history where a park has shocked the public by installing a ride no one ever expected; Six Flags with Kingda Ka, for example, or King's Dominion with Intimidator 305 (few people thought KD would even get a hyper, let alone a giga). Remember guys, all of these guesses are based on no solid evidence; these are just what we think would be a good fit, at a good price for the park. Let this debate begin once we get the first few teasers . I'm not locking in my prediction just yet.
  2. I find it funny that despite having a few possibilities, no one has a solid idea on what 2016 might bring. I can't wait to find out more!
  3. I saw that post; I believe by "looping coaster", he was referring to El Diablo (if he even knew that long ago).
  4. ^I would hope if we get an RMC that it's longer than Goliath! Something like Wicked Cyclone would be awesome, only bigger.
  5. I thought this belongs here... (Credit to Railer)
  6. Ok, I'm convinced. Something is going on in Old Country and it's coming soon.
  7. ^That's what I was implying. Also, many overseas projects are utilizing Intamin as they can bring world class attractions at a relatively cheap price (slightly cheaper than B&M most of the time)
  8. ^The thing is though, few other people can access such a great lineup close by. I think that's the positive, and our issues are the negative. Is it worth it? That depends on your perspective; The enthusiast might be ok with a world-class lineup and mediocre environment, but the GP probably won't. I think GL and Superman were placed badly, but their main attraction being right in the front is actually a good idea. It makes you think "I can't wait to get in the park" and enter in a rush, at least it does for me. But I do agree that it would be better if the rides were hidden in the trees; For example, from the parking lot Nitro looks really cool as you can't see the pullup of the first drop. Only the beautiful force based curved drop shaping in the crest, and the pretty parabolic tops of the airtime hills. It looks so much better hidden in the trees, as it gives a sense of intimidation for a new rider, they don't know what's waiting for them.
  9. Grr... it's on a Sunday so I can't go (with school the next day it would be rather difficult) . Since it is Cinco De Mayo, it would make sense if they ERT'ed El Toro and Plaza Del Carnival
  10. Guys, if they were going for the record they would have said "World's tallest ride", not "Europe's fastest ride". It seems this was deliberate; I heard somewhere it will be in the giga coaster class, not a strata, but that is obviously not confirmed. I'm glad Intamin is building coasters again, specifically large ones. They have this, and the great-looking coaster under construction at Phantasialand. I think since it's been 10 years since they built the last strata coaster, and 5 since they built a hydraulic launch coaster, they will have improved or perfected the system, so it might not be plagued with the problems other Intamin Accelerators and Stratas face. No matter what happens, Kingda Ka's record days are numbered, I agree.
  11. ^It had 170 pound weights in each seat, probably less than the average rider these days . I agree though, this thing is going to haul once it breaks in; hopefully
  12. I can't wait until it breaks in, then it will really be as fast as advertised. It looks great, and I love the elements, but it seems a tad bit slower than I anticipated, at least the second half of the ride (starting with the first Zero G Roll)
  13. So Thunderbird started testing yesterday, and from what I've heard it's out of this world! It is far more intense than your average B&M, and people were actually greying out multiple times. It's smooth as glass like a B&M should be, and the launch is actually really intense. I only wish we could get something like this!
  14. Yeah, no lines whatsoever. Longest line was 20 minutes, and that was only because Kingda Ka broke down. Second was El Toro (15 minutes) and that was the park being so empty that they had to wait for people to come to the coaster to fill up each train. The park was really empty, I got to ride every coaster and more! I'm glad everything opened (even though Zumanjaro closed early due to technical difficulties). The cold really wasn't that bad; I dressed for the worst but it was tolerable.
  15. I went a while ago in weather colder than today, and I was alright for the most part but I learned to always bring gloves; my hands felt dead after only 4 coasters.
  16. Coasters After Dark is tomorrow and the park opens at 5 and closes at 9, right?
  17. ^^I was about to mention that! I hold their stock in a virtual game for a school project, and I was pleasantly surprised when I saw their stock prices go up. I made a lot of fake money! Glad attendance is increasing though, it's good for the future and stuff
  18. I saw it run simultaneously run once this month, but as state above it was probably in maintenance mode.
  19. Nice! I noticed a while back that there were virtually no photos of construction. This is really cool!
  20. I can't choose one! For me it's either Namtab or Holiday In The Park.
  21. ^Yeah, I much prefer El Diablo; goes well with El Toro in the vicinity!
  22. I agree completely. Six Flags has gotten fantastic custom rides, and Nitro is definitely the best example. Batman: The Ride is another good example, and it went so well it got cloned as we all know. Now that most parks have a lot of coasters and limited space, it's a great time to be a coaster enthusiast as parks have to be especially creative with their ride's aspects (layout, theme, forces, elements, etc.). And now that most manufactures can provide exactly what the park asks for due to advances in technology, the phrase, "anything is possible" becomes a reality. I think though that the best coasters are made when there are tight restrictions; the designers have to really think outside the box and something beautiful results. Whereas if they are just free to build whatever they want, they tend to think inside the box. Skyrush is the perfect example; very tight space, and it had to maneuver around Comet, and look what resulted. Intimidator 305 counts too, kinda, because KD wanted to reduce the cost by using fewer supports, so Intamin came up with the double spine, and now it is possible for coasters to push g's to the riders limit without much strain on structure or the park's wallet. Those are the only two examples I can think of right now, but there are countless more.
  23. Is it only one day? Or do they do it a couple times a year?
