  1. Reports say that one person even lost his leg, but of course this isn't confirmed. This is a tragedy, and I hope everyone recovers. I'm still not sure why the block system allowed this to happen, or if it was human error. This coaster has had problems before, including valleying frequently.
  2. I waited about 45 minutes when I rode. By the way, El Diablo was down all day today, i'm not sure why.
  3. I read the bit about the height requirement, and I thought it's really funny how the most intense ride in the park (El Toro) has the lowest height requirement . We were also right about the target of this ride (tweens and younger)
  4. Out of curiosity, was the park as crowded today (Saturday, not Sunday since it's past 12 AM right now) as it was on Friday? I may go tomorrow and I really don't want to put up with long lines.
  5. ^They had some train-related issues so it will be delayed. That ride looks absolutely insane
  6. Enough of this argument. The last few pages have been ridiculous. Can we just (as 29yrs nicely put it) agree to disagree?
  7. I would like a coaster that stays low and focuses on speed. Im sure RMC will deliver if we are indeed getting a coaster.
  8. ^^The watershed at gadv is very high, that's why they generally can't go underground.
  9. That eliminates one park...only 12 other parks left

    Log Flume

Oh wow that looks cool! I wish they still had it, maybe you'd get some airtime in that . Do you know when they removed it?
  11. The success of TC at SFMM has been absolutely unbelievable. It's the most talked about ride in the nation right now, and I feel like SF struck gold with this conversion. Not only does it appeal to the GP, but the enthusiasts are loving it as well, plus the west coast gets the airtime machine they've wanted for years. Crowds are the park are insane these days, and lines for TC are 4+ hours long sometimes. I hope we get an RMC like this or WC, but with more height and speed. While on the topic of crowds, I heard gadv was completely packed on Sunday (you know Memorial Day crowds!). The line to get in the park went up to the Wawa! If I saw that kind of crowd on 537, I'd turn around!
  12. ^^I believe RMC said they have one Six Flags conversion for 2016 (before rising the price of the conversions); they didn't say anything about ground-up coaster ! The only SF park that could get a ground-up RMC seems to be us, but of course there is whatever Dollywood is getting so they may be booked for 2016. Though, they did recently find a way to increase their production, so 3 RMC's in one year is possible, i'm really just not sure at all what they'll be doing for next year
  13. Six Flags has been spending their money in a way that they are finally doing financially well. Attendance is slightly up, profit is also up, and their stock is doing quite well. From Premier to Shapiro we went from one end of the spectrum to the other, each with radical approaches to the park's image and appeal, but under Jim Reid Anderson we seem to have achieved a middle ground, and I can't complain about that.
  14. ^That last part I heard; that's why Magic Mountain did the lower portions of their ride so late
  15. Aren't the conversions mostly steel? One thing's for sure, Dollywood is almost certainly getting a launch of some sort and it will be most likely from RMC.
  16. Don't worry about El Toro. RMC won't be touching it (again) for a long time, as it's still glass smooth for a wooden coaster. In the distant future, this interesting design quirk means a Topper Track conversion is practically guaranteed; long live El Toro! Perhaps in, say, 2035-2045 we can talk about El Toro being I-Boxed!
  17. Glad to see that Zumanjaro is finally running after weeks of being down!
  18. I'm definitely considering it. Coasters on New Year's Eve? Sign me up! Unfortunately my birthday is a few days after closing day so I can't ride coasters on that day, but still pretty cool

    PTR 5/21/15

Anything going on in Old Country? It's been a while since we last saw anything
  20. ^The show had it's highest ratings in a long time. I'd say that's a good way to finish off such a career!!
  21. ^I heard it was a nightmare yesterday how crowded it was due to the events. I'm glad I went Saturday. Did you try El Diablo?
  22. ^That extra legal cash is the reason that Cedar Fair picked Carowinds to get a coaster for 2015 over King's Dominion. Just an example of how enormous of a difference that money makes.
  23. Since space will be a minor issue, and it would have to fit in a rather tight space, hypothetically they would go with an Intimiadator 305/Skyrush style lift support structure to minimize the amount of space the supports take. Plus, they could use the space between the two support points to build something like a path.
  24. Ok, time for a little review. Nothing major, just some random and cluttered thoughts. Got to the park at 11 AM, and noticed there were a lot of buses. Was today a trip day or something? Nitro was divine. Almost no stacking, and a station wait, which made for re-rides! All trains were really smooth, and for the first time in a while I rode in the back and loved it. I greyed out on the helix. *Note; I was extremely dehydrated that day and I have some circulation issues so I greyed out on every coaster that day. No complete blackouts like on Intimidator 305 Batman: The Ride was extremely forceful, more than usual, and a little too much to be honest. My legs were aching more than usual when I got off, and I can only imagine how insane this thing will be backwards. We took the Skyway to the other side of the park, and when we got to the other side 6 wasps flew out of nowhere and swarmed us. I was out of there, flying down the stairs (I have a fear of bugs/insects, especially flying ones). *Note; There were a lot of wasps/bees today at the park. I saw dozens of them in total, and the bees are hovering around for the most part (one just liked to hover in front of Nitro's train when in the station, and get out of the way during a dispatch and return after). The wasps though were aggressive. One even divebomb-ed into my face. For some reason, I didn't enjoy Bizarro too much today. I'm not sure why, and I did sit in the front row. The station was empty at first, but by the end of the ride the station was full of people; mostly groups Now onto El Diablo. No fog today, they really did only have it for Thursday. The wait was 45 minutes. I loved the theming, Six Flags did a great job on that. The ride itself is very disorienting, a moderately intense experience. It's even a bit nauseating, at least for me. I didn't feel right for the rest of the day. I enjoyed the ride but not what it did to me. El Toro was finally running 2 trains today. The queue was actually half way full, so it was a bit of a wait. The brown train's front row was closed off, so the line for the front row was taking an eternity. For the first time, I rode in the back and loved it. The twister section is a bit bumpy though. We decided to skip Superman and Green Lantern for two reasons. The lines were rather long at this point, and I already had a headache from El Diablo (not the bumpyness, as it's glass smooth, but the disorientation) and El Toro (this one was the bumpyness of the twister section) so I didn't need Green Lantern to multiply things by 100. Kingda Ka was broken down when we got to the Golden Kingdom. We waited 20 minutes, and it was running again. It was a station wait, but again the station filled after we rode. They were running 3 trains! I repeat, 3 trains! The ride was very, very efficient with really fast dispatches. Props to the ride ops for really great performance. Right when we were about to board the front row though, the ride broke down again. We waited 30 minutes, and they test-launched the green train. It easily surpassed 135 mph, it absolutely flew over the tophat with El Toro style airtime. We got on and were launched quickly. This particular launch was also very, very fast. Significantly faster than 128 mph, in fact I was surprised at how fast we were going and accelerating. It was absolutely incredible, and the best ride of the day for me. The log flume was running, and we decided to ride for the first time in years. It was pretty fun, but since we had to sit in the back we didn't get too wet. Zumanjaro was not running, and has been down for weeks. Don't expect to ride it until June or July. That's all! This turned out to be longer than I expected, but I started getting more descriptive as I went on!
  25. ^There were actually multiple designs they had in mind for Kingda Ka, including the one in the documentary (I saw that one too!), and even a version with one or more inversions. Ultimately they never got past the idea phase and we got the one with a single airtime hill
