This is my first trip to Six Flags Great Adventure since 9/19/15, and the first as a member of this site. Knowing today is Saturday and Fright Fest is going on, I expect the park to be a zoo of guests mainly from New York, or smaller crowds due to the windy weather.
Entering the park, there was some sort of cross-country event going on by the Hurricane Harbor lot. It probably contributed to the expected zoo crowds.
Usually, we park near where the buses park during spring and summer months, but security redirected us to the old Season Pass lot by Kingda Ka. This never happened from what I know.
I arrived around 1pm, so I had lunch first. I went to the Primo Pizza stand by the four tents. I didn't have to wait in a line. #FoodFastPass
I went to Kingda Ka, which had about an hour wait. As I entered the Golden Kingdom, I saw a guest talking to Public Relations Manager, Kristin Siebenneicher, by the gift shop area. It's not common you see higher ups wandering around the park. About halfway through the switchback area, Kingda Ka closed for about 15 minutes, which made the wait to about 75 minutes (If it didn't wait, it would be about 45 minutes as Zumanjaro was closed ). I rode on row 5 of the orange train, and I was lucky to not leave with a bad headache.
I went over to check how long Nitro's wait was, and it was full without using the overflow queue. I got an ice cream at the snack stand next door. Who would eat ice cream at the park during a cold day during Fright Fest?
I planned this out for about a week that I'm gonna get my credit on the Ferris Wheel. It was about a ten minute wait for this chilling ride.
The park was starting to pick up on crowds around 4:00, thus the waits for most rides are what you find at Disney World. Blackbeard's Lost Treasure Train had a near full queue, but it was only a 6 cycle wait to ride this scary ride. I started having a fear of this coaster when I rode it once in the spring. The restraints for the ride are maybe the worst, as I had about an inch between me and the lap bar. I started sliding around like crazy and almost had my arm chopped off.
The Awakening parade isn't a very great parade, as it takes about two minutes to pass through one area. I ended up in a swarm of New Yorkers while watching the parade. I spotted actor Richard Kind near the fountain.
For the second meal, I went to the stand next to the Garden State Grill for dinner.
Next would be the Green Lantern stand-up coaster, but it had a 75 minute wait. I was expecting it to be around 45 minutes knowing how long waits are during busier days.
Parachuter's Perch had a walk on wait, which is odd for a busy day. This ride was closed for most of the day due to the winds. It was about 50 degrees and windy around 6:30.
So that concludes this return trip to Six Flags Great Adventure. The crowd behavior is better than normal as many guests weren't rowdy hoodrats, especially the people that waited for Kingda Ka. There were a bunch of hoodies for sports teams found around the park, but that's because of the cooler weather. Most hoodies I found were for local teams in the Central Jersey area (i.e. Freehold, Westhampton, Toms River, etc).
