  1. As first year meal plan purchasers, we've had to take the bad with the good. The good being that we've gone to GA at least 10 times this season, so between lunch, snack and dinner we've more than got our money's worth. The bad being a Russian Roulette of sorts in terms of really slow service, food employees who have no idea what they are doing, poorly delineated queue and ordering/pick up lines, cash register/payment systems that don't always work correctly, and poor quality of food. When we visited SFNE back in June, we experienced the same exact issues as at Great Adventure, so it's certainly not exclusive to the NJ park. More often than not though, the quality and quantity of the food, once finally received, has been average to good. The two best meals so far have been the cheeseburger platter at Johnny Rockets and the burrito/taco bowl at the Mexican place in Movie Town. The one memorable clunker was a piece of pizza at Primo's, as was previously mentioned.

my wife would totally freak and hold it against me for the rest of my life....LOL
  3. I came upon this commercial for the "new" Action Park as I was doing research on the establishment. I remember visiting this water park in the mid-80s when the original looping water slide was still there (although not being run). This commercial says they reinvented the looping slide and will open it in 2016. You lay inside a framed pod as you go down the near vertical approach into the loop. I have no idea how this would even work. Does anyone here know whether this is real or some kind of hoax? Here's the video:
  4. Thanks for all the birthday wishes. I'm embarrassed to say I didn't see them until two weeks after the date!
  5. I find it amazing that there is such a broad range of amusement park fans here from all over the country. The collective knowledge on this webpage continues to blow my mind. For me, this is one of the most enjoyable sites to visit on virtually a daily basis. Keep up the great work.

was anyone stuck on the ride or was it empty?
  7. if only Great Adventure had a campground within walking distance, like the Wonderland.......
  8. I assume Cyborg can't be located so as to impede access to the picnic grounds. With a max capacity of 24 people per cycle and 910 pph, I see long lines in this ride's future (until people get bored with it). And that's if they don't have a lot of downtime due to mechanical problems. The 45 seconds for load/unload time also seems to be overly optimistic. We shall see.
  9. why didn't they have Sesame Place when I was a kid? LOL
  10. You went on one ride? Were the lines on everything else too long to wait?
  11. It seems to me the whole loading/unloading/fast pass area could be reconfigured better for efficiency sake. When I go with my wife, it seems like we get up close to the loading zone relatively quick, and then it takes way too long to get boarded from there.
  12. nothing worse than a half-finished ride sitting around all season....
  13. Here's something I wish they would do that is relatively cheap. Rip up all the walkways in the older areas and replace with something that is consistent and aeshetic. This is especially true in the Main Street, Boardwalk and Frontier Adventues areas. This would also help with the theming, as done with the walkways in the Golden Kingdom area. I think Movie Town is just asphalt, and the Justice League area has a lot of new concrete. This project would also allow them to rip up remnants of old and unused building foundations and posts that are an eyesore. While they are at it, they can get rid of the areas outside of the sewer tunnels in the old stunt show theater. They could probably also so something with the walkways in the main entrance to make the park look more inviting.
  14. With all the vets now having prosthetics, this topic is going to get hotter as time goes on.
  15. They should place charging stations in the park like some malls and casinos now have. Although I'm not sure how you would lock/unlock, unless it was like the locker system. In the casinos they are free and you use your casino Rewards Card to lock and unlock the drawer you place your phone in. Works great, especially before my last phone died and the battery was toast.
  16. I'm thinking of camping in the area and doing FF on Oct 13, 14, or 15. Does it get more crowded with each successive weekend as you approach Halloween. We will not be doing any of the extra pay walk throughs. We just go for the sights, decorations, food and maybe a few rides. We've already gone at least 10 times this season so our passes and food plans owe us nothing!
  17. I was worried about our drink bottles getting stolen, but so far it hasn't happened. I wrote our names on them with a sharpie, but I'm not sure if that is a deterrent or not. I also typically place a hat over the bottles when I place them in the shelf or on the floor during a ride. It definitely happens, as my daughter got calls from several angry patrons when she worked at customer relations a couple years ago.
  18. that whole area below the flume is already a wasteland, which is a shame
  19. Wow - what a rush! I actually wore parachute pants, but never a mesh or half shirt. IIRC I saw Kool and the Gang in concert at GA sometime around then. But I don't remember this Dancin' on Air. My daughter, who is a hair stylist, laughs so hard (or cringes) when she sees the 80's hair.
  20. no doubt - I wish GA had something similar remove Houdini and build one!
  21. I wouldn't be surprised if GA's log flume days are numbered. Last time I rode it, the trough had significant fiberglass patching at the joints. The lift sections are jarring bumpy, and many locations along the ride are pretty rough, with the boats bouncing off the walls. And several times I visited this season, the ride was out of commission.
