  1. Thanks - I wonder what rides are open? Hallo-fun Weekend Passes Available: October 13-15, 20-22, 27-29
  2. I chuckle every time I watch a rerun of The Next Generation and Will talks....
  3. I hope they can restore it to its former glory. The park just doesn't have enough smaller family-friendly coasters.
  4. he used the word "will" three times in a 12-word question....
  5. I take it that the ride won't be a world's first train or monorail around the park? heeheeheehee
  6. Just got a groupon in my email for half off admission at $33.50!
  7. Yup - two years ago it was outside, if this is the show I recall, which was my original question. The lip syncing was dreadful, and not in a good way. LOL
  8. When we went for the JL opening day, they were giving away free samples of some really strange and fruity flavors. They were not appetizing at all.
  9. Who comes up with these coaster names, such as mega, strata and giga? LOL
  10. I was somewhat surprised to read they pull in over 3 million in attendance every year.
  11. Did you stay in the campground right across the street? Was your site relatively close to the front, or further on back? Last time we stayed there in a popup camper towards the front, but the sites were fairly small and on top of each other. And because it was packed, there were several neighbors who were up to all hours of the night drinking and very loud by the campfire. I still loved the convenience to the park. My neighbor here in NJ goes to Knoebels every year for a week in his huge travel trailer with his kids and grandkids and they have a blast. I have not been back there since I bought a travel trailer about 10 years ago, but would like to do it again. Unfortunately they close in early September and as far as I know, don't have any type of Frightfest or HITP..
  12. Is this the show that takes place in front of the abandoned Stunt Show Theater at SFGAdv? If so, I was not impressed with it last year.
  13. It's tough to figure out who's firing at what when there are 6 people in the car and you're being thrown around like a rag doll.
  14. Nor can I. Although for cold weather, does the inside waiting queue area have a door that closes to keep it heated? Right now you just walk through an opening from the inside to outside queue areas.
  15. I've driven by KD many times along I-95 but have never been able to visit. I didn't realize some of the scenes from the 1977 movie Rollercoaster were filmed there.
  16. That makes sense. I thought maybe it had to be shipped to the manufacturer. and LOL - I assume you meant portable and not potable....
  17. this just shows how extreme Kingda Ka is, and certainly was when it was built several years ago! Who will build the first 500' coaster? If they build Skyscraper in Orlando, it will break several world records. With a structure exceeding 500 feet in height, it is expected to obtain the record for the world's tallest roller coaster. Currently, Kingda Ka at Six Flags Great Adventure stands at 456 feet. Skyscraper will have an inversion near the highest point of the ride, breaking GateKeeper's 170-foot record for the highest inversion in the world, set at Cedar Point in 2013. The ride will also have the steepest drop in the world at 123 degrees, exceeding the 121-degree drop record set in 2011 by Takabisha at Fuji-Q Highland.
  18. When Christmas Candylane first opened in the winter of 1983, there were very few rides running and everything was pay as you go.
  19. How would you retheme Congo Rapids anyway? Make it like an underground Gotham Sewer pipe that some villains used to live in?
  20. Is it easier/cheaper to disassemble and ship the ride somewhere to work on it vs. rehab it in place?
  21. Just found this list, but don't know how up to date it is. There aren't too many 300' tall coasters in the world: Intimidator 305, Kings Dominion, Doswell, Virginia, USA - 305' Millennium Force, Cedar Point, Sandusky, Ohio, USA - 310' Steel Dragon 2000, Nagashima Spa Land, Nagashima, Mie, Japan - 318' Tower of Terror II, Dreamworld, Coomera, Queensland, Australia - 377' Top Thrill Dragster, Cedar Point, Sandusky, Ohio, USA - 420' Kingda Ka, Six Flags Great Adventure, Jackson, NJ, USA - 455'
  22. I've got to get back to Hershey this winter - it's been a few years. In my area, I am very fortunate that I have several amusement and water parks within a two-hour radius: Great Adventure Morey's Pier - Wildwood Casino Pier - Seaside Steel Pier - AC Dorney Park Hershey Park Sesame Place Clementon Park Am I missing any others? Knoebels is further away at least 3 hour drive. I guess some of the Pocono ski area water parks are also within 2 hours.
  23. I've loved going to Knoebels several times over the years, but it's probably been 6-7 years since we've been there. I like the fact that they still have a train ride, and it runs all the way around the property, around the water slides and through a tunnel under the campground entrance road. I also liked the chairlift ride that goes up the mountain side. Unfortunately the Flyers were not yet up and running last time I was there. Knoebels is an amusement park with the emphasis on "park". It is one of the most aesthetically pleasing amusement parks you can visit.
