  1. Fortunately, I don't think the additional elements are going to make the Magic Mountain version that much superior to JDC. Though, there is some speculation that one of the final elements of the Magic Mountain version is a barrel roll, which seems perfect for the slower speed at the end of the ride. It makes me wish that instead of the zero-g roll on JDC, it was an outer-banked hill (i.e. in the same vein as Twisted Cyclone, and the last element on Pantheon), and the last bunny hill was instead a slow barrel roll into the brakes. An inversion at a slower pace is much more satisfying than an airtime hill, in my opinion.
  2. These are great! They remind me of almost a mini-GCI: compact, lots of turns, airtime moments, all within a full-circuit layout. Unfortunately with the return of Baby Devil (I am actually happy that it will be nearby to JDC), it doesn't seem the current kids' areas have much room for something of this footprint. Perhaps a family RMC could go in the lot of land previously occupied by El Diablo and Rolling Thunder:
  3. You would think so, but people try to ride in their group and that leaves empty seats on certain trains. I was a single rider and they were looking for a party of 3 or less and couldn't find one since the only people they ask/call out to are the ones that are up next in line (past the operator booth). Luckily, it was the back of the train and that's how I got a backseat ride! I hope that there is a single rider line, even if it's 2 seats designated in the train for single rider. That line could move decently quick. Plus, they could give additional empty seats to single riders! Most people are in groups, so it would be perfect for those of us who ride alone.
  4. There was not, at least during the preview event. It didn't seem like there was a line for one, the only line separate from the regular queue seemed to be for the Flash Pass.
  5. I rode it today! 3 times, and my first time was in the back seat. I want to put a review here since I feel like the people reading will be interested to hear how someone's experience was. The first drop really feels like a catapult in the backseat, but not to the severity of El Toro. Still, it is a great drop. There is some shuddering and shimmying of the train over the segments, but I don't feel the pain compares to the current roughness of El Toro. The inversions are nice, and the airtime hills are decent (it's tough, maybe impossible, to outshine El Toro's sustained air). It's a lot of different elements compiled into one ride which makes it not feel repetitive. It is not the "hands down best ride in the park", at least to me after giving it a few rides...but it's a fantastic ride with a wide variety of forces. The backseat gets a LOT of good drops, especially the first drop, the airtime hill, the drop off the turnaround and the drop out of the MCBR. I don't know where I'd put it in park rankings, but for overall experience I'd say Toro/JDC/Nitro are the top three. Kingda Ka is awesome but it doesn't have the completeness of the other three. It breaks down a lot due to the restraints, and when a train doesn't clear the final brake run, the MCBR hits really hard and completely neuters the ending of the ride. Luckily that doesn't happen often (if at all) when they are cranking trains out. It's a wonderful ride, but not something that eclipses El Toro (in its best days). Though, El Toro is quite brutal in spots nowadays, which slightly knocks it down a peg in my opinion. Another last thing to add is that there is no seatbelts, which surprised me because I heard there are seatbelts on WWGLC. It makes the loading process really quick and seamless. I actually am happy that it's this way, the ops just have to push down and there's no difficulty unloading passengers.
  6. How are the lines for the season pass holder event? I'd imagine a lot of guests have season passes, but it sounds like everyone who has ridden JDC got several re-rides in.
  7. Does anyone know if new attractions get added to Flash Pass? Or is there a delay between opening to when they get officially added? Just asking to see if/when JDC will be added to Flash Pass. Thanks!
  8. Or even a Mack Power Loop instead of both of those!
  9. Woah there, why this mention of Ka and Zu removal. I know you didn't mean in the imminent future, but I see the park working hard to keep both open for as long as possible. It's the crowned jewel of the park in terms of branding, even though El Toro is the enthusiast magnet. The Zamperla Big WaveZ is an interesting concept; it's basically a mini drop tower into a splash zone? That would be a neat successor to Twister (especially since they seem to share the same footprint), I just hope it would be as thrilling of a ride experience. The splash zone would be interactive, and would be a perfect fit for the Boardwalk. I also still have my hopes up for an eventual Mack Powersplash somewhere in the Movietown/Metropolis region.
  10. I have a lot on my wishlist for Great Adventure. Hopefully they get around to repainting Nitro. As far as new additions, here are some that I think are realistic and would fit the park: Intamin LSM Vertical Coaster Premier Rides Multilaunch Coaster S&S Screamin' Swing S&S Axis Coaster Mack/Intamin Powersplash/Gigasplash Zamperla Super Air Race (Dare Devil Dive at SFFT) These additions are based on which companies the park/chain have worked with in the past. My dream addition would be a 300 ft.+ B&M dive coaster, that would finally give the park a giga as well as another B&M. Theme it to Medusa and it'd be even more awesome.
  11. Cancel! Unless they want to do it that badly. Fright Fest is generally extremely crowded...like unbearably crowded (multiple hour queues for the coasters). It doesn't sound fun or reasonable, but I really am holding hope for HITP (especially next year when Jersey Devil joins the cast ).
  12. I had heard that they navigate the track different, in a more "smooth" fashion and that it feels like the train is gliding through transitions. I'm not exactly sure and would like to know more, but this is what I was told regarding Steel Vengeance and Twisted Timbers trains.
  13. Can anyone explain how the gen 2 hybrid "swing axle" trains are? How do you think this will affect the ride of JDC versus how Railblazer and Wonder Woman are?
  14. Since JDC isn't going to be ready until 2021, even if the park were to close for the rest of 2020 I don't think it'd be such a big deal (there aren't any "new" experiences to miss out on). Honestly it would probably be safer for the public. The Safari being drive-thru seems like a good enough replacement in the time being. I am quite excited for 2021 now, it gives something to look forward to! A movie franchise I really like also pushed back their film to 2021 (Halloween Kills), so now I have JDC and the movie to look forward to next year.
  15. Not sure if anyone else went this weekend, but I went on Friday. It didn't feel safe whatsoever. Parents pushing little children around in strollers (seemed like a horrible idea to expose your kid to a venue like this, but not my call), people not wearing masks & taking them off, social distancing definitely was NOT followed. And the worst part, was that the queues were filling up and people weren't even concerned with following the stickers on the floor. The trains were literally being sent out with sometimes 6 people on them... Nitro had 4 rows being used, 5 were empty each cycle (not sure why they couldn't let the back row be used, rows 1/3/5/7/9 should all have been used). The worst part? When a single rider would ride, the entire row would be used for one person. Not even putting 2 single riders at the left & right ends of the row. Nitro's queue was literally into the switchbacks. It felt more maniacal than a regular summer, and also extremely unsafe. I won't go back to Great Adventure until Covid resolves.
  16. Yeah the addition of JDC really adds another top-tier attraction to the park. I think El Toro, Nitro and JDC are a very strong collection of coasters (and all from different manufacturers), & this doesn't even include the KK/Zumanjaro duo that further elevates Great Adventure. Plus with all the supporting B&Ms and flats, Great Adventure is sitting comfortably with a strong repertoire of rides. I'm trying not to focus on another park getting the same ride, but if it's a modified layout, it kind of reminds me of Viper/Scream Machine/Shockwave. They all were very similar Arrow looping coasters with some modifications to the layout, but generally the same elements overall. It's pretty cool now to see a similar trend with RMC single rail coasters. Though I hope Magic Mountain's is not too much taller/faster/longer, it would feel kind of a bummer for JDC.
  17. I don't think it matters too much if it becomes a clone. I believe only the more prioritized Six Flags parks will receive it anyways, the same way the Giga Discovery went to fewer parks. Plus the theme will be unique at least. This layout would become the best clone at a Six Flags park, most likely even better than the Batman clones. I wonder what the next coaster at Great Adventure would be though. It would likely be a custom creation, since there isn't much else to clone (unless Six Flags starts cloning the S&S Axis Coaster).
  18. According to recently leaked information on coaster forums, Six Flags Magic Mountain will be getting something similar to JDC in 2021.
  19. It looks amazing! I love how sleek the track looks, and that dive loop looks tall! Maybe almost the same height as Batman? This ride is going to pack a punch!
  20. I love to see RMC making minor improvements for our version! I also read on Reddit (someone had commented) that the wheel axes have been updated from the previous models to be more articulated, hopefully indicating that these trains will navigate the track even better than the first two Raptors! Does anyone know if the station will include a moving loading platform (similar to WW: GLC)? I am really hoping for that, I think it would make the lines move a lot more efficiently and keep the queue moving.
  21. Did you miss the part where I said riders were getting friction burns and bruises? I'm pretty sure it depends on your body type. I was told that the straps can squeeze into your shoulder blades, especially with the way the ride whips and changes direction.
  22. Any idea on whether the restraints will resemble the prototype Raptors? I recall seeing those dastardly collars in the animation, from what I heard they were necessary due to the Raptor's forces, but also left some friction burns and bruises on riders. I really was hoping for a modified train that prioritized comfort while of course still being 100% safe.
  23. At first I was underwhelmed, this layout made X-Flight look like a long ride. But then I looked at the aerial of X-Flight and compared it. They look relatively similar in length, but X-Flight is about 20 feet taller. I hope that KD brings back the loop, and final helix, to "complete" the layout. As it stands, it's just a drop (counts as an inversion) and then four back-to-back inversions with a single helix included.
  24. Will the Diamond Elite skip-the-line passes work for Jersey Devil when it opens in 2020? Or do those not work on new attractions?
