  1. It would be much worse to promise a bunch of guests the ride is reopening from the beginning, and then have to close it for the day after they all stand there based on that promise. Much better to give poeple the option to leave the line at that moment and then possibly ocme back later on. In terms of the test sead and employee issue, I can't say that I've experienced that but an employee who is rude like that is usually an isolated incident or person. Plus if a ride op were to say something snide like that to me, whether I should have used the test seat or not, you better believe I would have their name and my complaint would be filed.
  2. Nitro Dark Knight Superman GASM and the from there it gets kind of fuzzy depending on whether we go golden kingdom or or Runaway Train first.
  3. Looks good. I guess there were a lot people taking a spring break day and enjoying it at the park. Nice to see so many guests there on what at this time is not a traditionally busy week day so early in the season. Still a little sad that no lights are on the wheel almost a full week delay now, but I'm sure they'll get up there eventually.
  4. Unfortunately common sense and it's lack of use is the reason the rules have to be posted everywhere in the park.

    It's Always A Great Adventure

My trips the GA for the last few seasons... Contains mainly Fright Fests and the Safari for now Keep coming back as I will try to update with each trip to the park.
  6. Awesome spotlight on a very underappreciated ride in the park. I can still remember a local radio promotion for the ride that had one of their dj's on the air as he took one of the first rides on Medusa when it opened for the 1999 season. I was so jealous at the time as I made my way to school for the day, and it wasn't for a long time that I actually was able to experience the ride for myself. Though I didn't really ride Medusa the last few years (due to the fact that I seemingly always walked away from it with a very large headache) I still enjoyed the occasional spin on the coaster. I'm not too big on the Bizarro thing at all, but here is hoping to some renewed interest in a coaster who deserved much better than the delayed openings it saw later in it's original run.
  7. You are very lucky. By the time we got over to it it had been closed down so that was out of th question. Though with the wind gusts we probably were better off. Still can't wait to see the finished rpduct on our next visit.
  8. Absolutely. I really got a kick from the expressions on the kid's faces as their parents brough them to see the cubs. So many of them were just so excited to see little the little lions playing around. They definately seem to have won over eevryone who came by to see them.
  9. From what I recall on Saturday, any signs that had not yet been freshened up were not in place. I do remember seeing the posts with nothing on them in a few locations so it was probably those three you mentioned Harry. The signs really are very vibrant and eye catching now though, and I can say that while in years passed I went right past most of them, they really do draw your attention this season to where the animals you are going to be seeing are representative of.
  10. It is a good idea, and in all reality anyone who can't abide by it just is an idiot. The policy, while seemingly never enforced, also shows a lot baout soe people's character when they intentiaonally break the rules that are clearly given to them before they enter the gate surrounding the Safari Park. I will say though that I found it interesting, I had some pollen and junk on ym car from a tree I parked under at my house still stick in the grating by my hood, and the Safari employees actually took a minute to check out what exaclty it was and ask me about it before heading into the Safari. So they are tyring to make sure the animals aren't harmed, I just think sometimes there is too much for them to do with the animals to see a lot that happens.
  11. I keep forgetting about this when we go through it, and I always wish I would have listened to it when we were done. The again between the camera, steering, and then trying to listen I would probably find myself way too distracted . But I am glad to hear everything sounded pretty good over the Safari airwaves today.
  12. Thanks for the update on that. I fixed the comment in my trip report, but I really never would have known they were females. Still felt bad for them though. Thanks for the info
  13. I loved seeing the new paintjobs the animals on the carousel got. They really stood out, and though I didn't notice the tails were installed right away, it was also nice seein horses that didn't look like they were incomplete all the time. I can't wait to see what the next phase will bring when it eventually gets underway.
  14. I actually found the bottle looking recylcing bins to be pretty nifty, and it's pretty tough to mistake them for regular grabage bins while walking around the park. Hopefully everyone makes use of them during the summer. I can only imagine the insane amount of recycling the park does during the operating season.
  15. Sorry to hear aboutyour car. That is always a concern of mine when I am at places like the parks, but I am glad to hear at least that they did not get in and do anything else to the car. Sounds like you kinda had the park to yourself in terms of getting on anything and everything you could have wanted to.
  16. Harry I always love checking out your trip reports. I sometimes think some of these pictures somehow stage just for you because you really do tend to get some great ones. I was as shocked as I think everyone else to see the Log Flume running. It wasn't until we heard people on it while eating out back at BOTW that we even knew it was operating. Hopefully there are no lasting problems from the Nitro valley in the winds, but I guess we shall see. Again Harry great photos from the park, and good seeing you again over the weekend.
  17. I was a bit disappointed that the lights were not up on Saturday, but as long as there is nothing majorly wrong that they didn't go up I suppose it is all good. I was definately hoping for a ride on the newly refurbished and complete wheel, but there will definately be more days to come.
  18. ^ We met almost the same fate on Family Fun Night. Coasters after dark last year was pretty fun and the park was basically empty so We rode whatever we felt like while we were there. I'm hoping we can make it even for just a few hours this year, but as I work till around 6 I dunno how it's gonna go. We shall see I suppose.
  19. So we ventured to the park for opening day with a bit of a different objective in mind than I'm sure most people do. For us opening day for the last few years has been about hitting up the Safari upon our arrival and then just wandering around the park, doing a few rides here and there, watching the shows, and just seeing how the day progresses. Opening day this year was no different for us. We arrived at the park around 10:30 and headed right for the Safari which was rather barren with only 4 or 5 other vehicles that we saw through the whole trip. As we began our venture into the safari, we were immediately greeted by large herds of the animals moving about together and trying to avoid the cars as they passed through. One of our favorite herds is always the Buffalo, and this day was no different. While we found the hear grazing and just sitting around, we found one lone member of the herd amusing. Not all of the animals were vehicle shy, however, and we managed to get some nice closeup visits from a few animals. It's always amazing to see how big and graceful the animals are when you get near to them. One of our close encounters came when one Ostrich decided to come up to the car and attempt to eat my inspection sticker. Not wanting to risk injuring one of the animals we entertained ourselves watching him peck at my windshield for about 10 minutes until a passing vehicle got his attention and turned him away from the car. We found more of the same from so many of the herds. They were all out and about enjoying what was a very windy, yet beautiful morning, but none wanted much to do with the vehicles passing by or us annoying people inhabiting them. I suppose I cannot blame them after a winter without us. The rhinos were surprisingly active with it being slightly frigid in the wind, as were the Elephants and various other animals. When we arrived into Giraffe country, the herd was amusing us by sticking their heads into one of the parked Safari vehicles to see what was inside. I suppose they found out those things don't have much headroom after all. Inside Lion country, we found the lone Male inside the pen with about 3 or 4 females around. In the side pen, we found a couple of younger gals who we really felt bad for as we know it can't be much fun for them in that much smaller section. Bear Country gave us some of the biggest laughs of the day. While most of the bears were clearly in an almost vegetative state it seemed. One in particular really made us laugh so hard that I had to stop the car and park it. The position this guy fell asleep in was just all around amusing, though at the same time looked rather comfy for him. The rest of the Safari trip went just as well. The animals all out enjoying the first day of the season with us all, not being overly curious about the cars, but at the same time not shying away so much that viewing them was difficult. Once we were done with the Safari, we headed off to the Exploration Station to visit the newcomers to the Lion pride's family. They were probably two of the most adorable animals I think I've seen, and I know Kristi was incredibly exited to see them. Watching them play in their cage, and listening to the tiny roars that were coming out of them as they attempting to communicate was very enjoyable, and these two are certainly a blessing to the park's family. After we finished adoring the new lion cubs, we headed into the park to get the remainder of our day underway. When we got there we found that the majority of the major attractions were shut down so we decided it would be a show day and probably nothing more. We headed over to the Golden Kingdom to see the Tigers for their first day of the season, and they were out and about in their enclosure waiting to perform and just lounging around. They always look impressive, and amazing, and this day was no different. After the Tigers we headed to the Dolphin training show, which I find to be more enjoyable than the Shiver Me Flippers show simply because it is very interesting to see the concepts and techniques behind the training of the animals to perform acts I think many of us take for granted when we go to see a performance from them. These are not dumb animals at all and the things they are able to learn to do with such little communicative abilities with us is awe inspiring. As usual the Dolphins did not disappoint and our resident Sea Lions were their usual lively and fun selves. After the Dolphin show ended we strolled around the park a little bit more, before having to head out for the day due to a prior commitment. But of course what park trip would be complete if I didn't include a picture of me posing with at least one park character. I hope you guys enjoyed and please check out my album if you would like to check out any more photos of the wildlife at Great Adventure.
