  1. We all love Great Adventure with a passion. Why else would we be here right? Since we all began visiting the park during different time periods, I thought it would be interesting to see which Roller Coaster, past and present, we can remember being the first one we rode at the park. I tried to list any Coasters that would have been the big ones at their peak, without creating a mile long poll. My first Roller Coaster at the park was the Great American Scream Machine. I had visited the park in its opening year but did not build up the courage to go on it until 1992. Ever since I have been a Roller Coaster lover.
  2. I am very dissapointed that I did not get to see that. I missed the 2004 Fright Fest (was supposed to go but plans got screwed up) and in 2005 didn't know to look for it. I think my favorite attraction to not be around was probably the one called Nightmare in the 2005 season. I believe it was set up by the Castle Arcade and was a short walkthrough with ghouls and other characters inside. I ended up being put through with my girlfriend and about five other girls. When they began actually freaking out and hiding behind me I made sure I walked as slow as I could to get to them. By the time we reached the exit door I think I had 6 girls literally pushing me out the door with the force of and NFL Offensive line haha. I wish they would have kept that a part of Fright Fest as it offered a fun little creepy attraction that let those who did not want to wait hours for the Terror Trails or Hayride.
  3. Park is looking good and it will be interesting to see things when the Dark Night begins to take shape. These pictures alone make me want to get April here as son as possible.
  4. Wow I completely forgot to come back in here after signing up last week. Well my name is Chris, and my first time at six flags was in 1989. Up until 2001 I visited the park sporadically about once or twice a year with groups of friends. In 2001 I bought my first season pass for that season. I had a pretty bad experience there that year and did not visit more than once each year again until 2005 when I began buying my season passes yearly through now. I absolutely love the park and wish I remembered a little bit more of its earlier days than I do, but this site is amazing for being able to look at the attractions and events I once loved. Fright fest is my absolute favorite time of the season and I look forward to it like nothing else. I usually visit on average between 7 and 10 times a season with my max in a year being 12.
  5. Excellent Spotlight for a ride that I no longer see much of anymore. Up until this year I had basically written it off ever since a few years ago when I went on it and the lights inside the building were on which completely killed any mood there was on the coaster. But I do also recall how much fun this ride seemed when it first opened, especially with the elaborate theming the park put to it. I was also very interested to see how long the lines for the attraction were during Fright Fest as over the years Skull Mountain has seemed to become almost a walk on attraction. I also find it somewhat humerous to come out ofSkull Mountain and find myself in the midst of Wiggles World. One has to wonder which of those two is supposed to be scarier
  6. No matter what it is, with attractions like this change is can be a good thing. Personally I think the simulators need to keep changing over time just to keep them fresh and enjoyable. Don't get me wrong Spongebob was a fun little ride just like the others that came before it, but a change of scenery is always nice.
  7. When did this incident you are talking about happen. I was at Fright Fest during one of the last weekends it ran this year (pardon my lapse in memory at the moment I normally remember dates like this) and we managed to get through the Terror Trail early. When we were walking around later in the evening waiting to attend the arena of Doom, the Terror Trail was closed and we could see some management inside the Terror Trail with the ghouls holding some sort of meeting. We never found out what happened and I thought maybe the event you were referencing could be what we saw the tail end of. On a side note I also agree that I love the Fright Fest events, but the lines do tend to be quite long. I believe in 2006 my girlfriend and I stood online for the hayride for about 3.5 hours and then another 2 hours (when we were told it would be 4) for the Terror Trail back by the arena, and that was all we managed to do besides seeing a show or two in passing.
  8. I remember going on Mach 1 within the first couple of years it was open, and I loved it. Any simulator is great to me but Flight is the best. I was never able to see the first Dino Island, but I remember the second one being pretty decent. I have been non Spongebob probably about 12 times at this point, mainly as a way to get out of the sun for a while on hot summer days. Elvira used to be a favorite of mine, but this year they completely took out the preshow to it and I felt that the atmosphere was pretty bad. I think it's about time for them to revamp both Spongebob and Elvira. I would even be open to a possible closure for part of one if not a whole season to give them a chance to do some retheming and bring in a new movie. After seeing the Mach 1 spotlight I miss how good it looked as the flight simulator, and those cargo crates painted yellow just don't do the trick for me as it stands now.
