  1. Such a classic and great ride. I have had a few visits to Six Flags on hot summer days solely to get some butterfly fried, take a couple of rides on Congo Rapids and then a quick dry off ride on Nitro before either heading somewhere else in the park or even home back out of the park. It can be nice to get a good soaking when it's going to be humid at night and I am staying at the park.
  2. Awesome spotlight on a coaster I honestly didn't even know existed for a good portion of my life. WOuld have definately loved to have ridden it at one point or another.
  3. The movie really was horrible and caused the derailment of that series until Batman Begins brought it back to glory once again. It really was a good coaster though and with the two different ride experiences to choose from (in theory anyway as usually only one was open). The few times I was able to get on it over the years I had a blast and looked forward. My only regret is that I only managed to get on the Batman side one time before it basically shut down for good. Robin was always fun but I liked the Batman side better. Hopefully the Dark Knight and whatever else turns up in the Chiller's footsteps can be as enjoyable as it was to ride.
  4. It's not a terrible show and it is quite fitting at the aquarium I suppose.
  5. The only thing scarier would certainly have been if I showed up and the Chiller was operating. Imagine the shock value there lol.
  6. I think I like this one more now that when I actually took it. Now if I only had a more powerful camera I'd have some better ones for everyone to check out.
  7. Now that certainly sounds like some fun on Halloween night. And i think it could be even better because most younger kids want to be out trick-or-treating so that crowd will likely be non-existant for the night. I always felt like Fright Fest should always take place on Halloween no matter what day of the week, but this would be the next best thing. Maybe they could open up for Halloween when it is a weekday for Season Pass holders only in the future. It would certainly be a nice little perk for people who have one, and if they continue to push the next season's pass to include the current season's Fright Fest it could add to that appeal.
  8. I would be very interested to hear your thoughts on it as your ideas definately are well thought through in that area. I do think you are 100% right with it being a victim of its own success. I think it hit its peak sometime in the 90's in terms of its balance between being family friendly and having enough to go around in the park itself. I also think part of the problem with the crowds being worse and worse, is the fact that you find more and more groups of kids who are left to wander throughout the park by themselves, with no real restrictions. I know in the past two seasons I was there, I twice saw a park performer who had a guest lay their hands on them. Both times it was by a young person in a group who thought it would be funny to do something to the "ghoul" and their friends seemingly thought the same thing until park security or management get involved. I do think that Great Adventure has the means to spread more attractions around Fright Fest, and in their defense I thought this year's event was much more orderly and enjoyable for the most part than even in 2006 (new managements first or second year with the park). The new management has certainly made some real progress overall in the park in terms of it being cleaned up, down time being much lower than past years, and park staff being friendlier. These are all really important and in fairness were a bit more important in terms of the park's overall wellbeing than some of the planning for Fright Fest, and so I am more than willing to see what they come up with now that they have another year under their belts. Should get very interesting to say the least, as I get the sense these people have the park headed in the right direction.
  9. Looks like the Runaway Mine Train was the runaway favorite for first time coaster riders.
  10. When Batman first arrived, I thought the theming was phenomenal. I can remember standing on line and just looking around at the details which made Gotham City seem so awesome in the movie, be a few mere feet away from me. I still to this day love the Batmobile outside of the ride.
  11. At this point I would love to see any new rides like this come into the park. I miss some of the older ones (especially after going thought the graveyard spotlight) and would like to see them make a comeback. Big coasters are fun, but smaller rides can be too.
  12. Very dissapointed I never made it to thew park during this event's years of existance.
  13. Some of these Halloween events do seem to attract some more unwanted patrons than the rest of the season for sure. I don't know what it is about them, but it's like they come out of the woodwork for this one month of open season each year. The 90's Fright Fests were awesome for sure, especially compared to what we have had for the last few years. Not that the current FF is terrible, just doesn't seem to work as well as the older ones did. I also think the main reason I would like to see the hayride return, is not as much that I always ride it, but a Halloween hayride seems like it just belongs. For a few years the hayride seemed to be a staple at FF and everyone I knew going wanted to get on it before the night was through. It just seems like a void not to have it somewhere in the park, even if it's not as good as it once was.
  14. They really were. I can't remember the last time I saw that many people waiting to go on it. The bigger rides did have some long lines ( El Toro's was insane the night we were there) so that may have contributed to it. Also, maybe some people felt that it was more fitting a ride during Fright Fest seeing as how it's theming and all give it that slight eerie feeling from the outside. One never knows lol.
  15. Welcome Master glad to see another SFGA lover on board with us.
  16. The Theming seems like it would fit in perfectly down by the lakefront with the Dolphin show being so close by. If they added something like this and then a new show on the lake, that area of the park would undoubtedly be one of the busier around again. I know there are always swarms of people to go see the dolphins and with another show and ride down there I think it would truly be hopping. Plus imagine how many more people would be drawn through the lakefront cemetary during Fright Fest if there was more to do down there as a whole.
  17. A reprisal of the Right Stuff would be great. Good way to bring back an older crowd who used to love it when it opened, the current crowd who are growing tired of Spongebob, and a new crowd who maybe don't feel a need to go on a cartoon ride. All around it could be gold. Then again anything besides Spongebob right now could be welcomed.
