The Future of the Great Adventure History Website and Forums
The Master replied to GAcoaster's topic in Site Information
It would be sad to see the forum go as this is one of the few laidback park forums that lacks online drama. I been a member here for a long time now and glad I lasted this long. I rather not join Facebook as I don't approve of that company and I have no experience with Discord. Is that a membership setup similar to Facebook? Most of my online experience has been with forums. Its just seems to be one of those situations where it rains, it pours. I can't find fault in not wanting to spend hundreds to support a forum that has low traffic. I wish the best of luck for whatever the future holds for GAH. Best to enjoy whatever time we have left for the forum. -
My condolences for your loss and Harry will be greatly missed by all of us here.

Hopefully they replaced the floor panels, the diamonds are worn off the the diamond plate flooring in those gondolas.

Shoot Out - Best of the West Building
The Master replied to 29yrswithaGApass's topic in Games & Arcades
It would be nice to see a new shooting gallery in the park as I do enjoy them but I doubt it will happen within the current political climate. Moreover, a shooting gallery would be kind of redundant with the Justice League ride now, though the grips bothers my hands. I remember that back when the Shoot Out was still in operation it was a lonely location that rarely had other guests around. -
SeaWorld Orlando Adding Penguin Trek Toboggan Coaster for 2024
The Master replied to GAcoaster's topic in Industry News
So I take it that this won't be an actual toboggan coaster? Still looks like a neat coaster. -
Fright Fest 2023-- 30th Anniversary Season!
The Master replied to GAcoaster's topic in The Park Today
The current quality of the haunts are not worth $30+, that is for sure. The first Power Hours I went to lacked any shows but the next week I visited they at least seemed to have the drum show which they renamed Blade Drummers this year. A play on the title of the cult scifi film Blade Runner I think. -
Fright Fest 2023-- 30th Anniversary Season!

That reminds me of another issue with the upcharge weekday FFs, they lack the live shows which are GADV's FF strong points. -
Fright Fest 2023-- 30th Anniversary Season!
The Master replied to GAcoaster's topic in The Park Today
But some of GAdv's were not worth any price, especially Aftermath which was mostly old park junk in the dark, just a very poor haunt. Bloodshed and the 3D Circus houses were pretty good, almost Dorney good. The rest were just ok. Despite Dorney's many issues, they do have far superior haunted houses, especially considering they aren't upcharged. Unlike most of GADV's haunted houses, Dorney doesn't just mostly use old park junk, they purchase actually Halloween props. Now if GADV's houses were the same caliber as Dorney's houses I would not mind the upcharge as much. Upcharges need to have value. -
Hopefully this merger will lead to improvements in GADV's haunted houses as most of them are lame compared to Dorney's haunted houses. Also hopefully that the terrible operations at Dorney will be improved. Of course the big concerns are the loss of competition, likely budget cuts and price hikes, and possible parks either being sold off or closed.

Fright Fest 2023-- 30th Anniversary Season!
The Master replied to GAcoaster's topic in The Park Today
I wasn't too happy about weekday Fright Fests being upcharges this year. With the new merger I expect Fright Fest becoming an upcharge admission event. -
The daydream of many 13 year old theme park forum posters has finally come true. Besides the other issues many have posted, there is also the issue of market cannibalization. In some areas its not much of an issue like SoCal as Knotts and SFMM target different market segments. Knotts being a themed family park while SFMM is the extreme thrill park and hangout for LA's lowlifes, that is besides both parks being pretty far apart from each, especially with SoCal traffic. But in situations similar to our tri state area where Dorney and GADV are not as far apart and have similar market segment targets will make cannibalization worse between the two. Its crazy to think of Dorney as being the closest SF park to GADV. Guess they will have to change the neighboring SF park sign by the exit.

All that money for upcharge fastpasses and still have a long wait, ugh. That is one reason I don't go to Disney anymore. Hopefully things will turn around sometime. That is good news about Mindblower, I was shocked how rough it was when I rode if last year. Are the crowds at the Funspots during the day? I only been to them at night and found the other park patrons scuzzy.

First I ever heard of this.

You Know What Really Grinds My Gears?
The Master replied to MarioSonic94's topic in General Discussions
I bought the Black Friday sale season pass but they gave me a really hard time trying to activate. They wanted more ID than the DMV, I just got fed up and wanted a refund. The Del Taco near Funspot is bad too. They have some weird rule where they will only sale one food item per car for their drive thru. I never heard such a thing before. -

Funspot was so bad I got a refund for my season pass. Just terrible service to get my pass activated plus the sketchy clientele. -
New for 2024- Flash: Vertical Velocity & More!

I can't speak for others, but I prefer driving myself in my own car vs relying on the discretion of the truck driver. -

Its a story as old as history, every new regime always undue and changes everything the previous regime had setup to establish their new leadership. The changes aren't always good. Also many businessmen are taught to avoid the sunk cost fallacy.
