  1. Iger and DeSantis B-slapping each other.
  2. The park is lopsided in regards to flats and smaller rights. The majority of flat rides are in the southern half of the park while the northern half is pretty sparce on flat rides. This isn't helped by the fact that many of the rides in the northern half of the park have really long walks for single rides, Green Lantern, Superman, Kingda Ka, El Toro, especially the drop tower, and Medusa all have overly long walks with no other attractions nearby. Many of the park sections in the northern half only feature one to two operating attractions. In Frontier Adventures it would be nice if the derelict and ill placed safari station was removed and replaced with western themed flats. The north side of the park has a larger number of derelict or SBNO attractions which has increased this season. You have the old sim theater, the GK theater, the GK water playground, the aformentioned safari station, the Northern Arena, etc, all standing SBNO. Moreover, the park really messed up the pathways and traffic flow around the lakeside of Frontier Adventures. Last year, the park closed off its northern half even before Halloween! It has befome a pretty neglected side of the park.
  3. Sad to see the parachute tower is missing on the map.
  4. Again, 2009's Tron Legacy was a recent film at the time and Disney likely wanted to capitalize on cross promotion between the new film and new attraction. Disney wanted to revitalize Tron at the time to be an major IP aimed at boys. Disney Cali Adventure also had a Tron rave party for several months to cross promote the 2009 sequel including showing a preview clips in their Muppetvision theater. Back in the 80's the Disneyland Peoplemover used to have a original 1982 Tron themed speed tunnel that lasted into the 90's. However, once Iger tricked Lucas to selling his company to Disney and got Star Wars to be their new male focused IP, Tron got kicked to the curb again and the 3rd film was cancelled. Yes, Iger is quite proud and openly boasted about duping Lucas. Of course Iger and co mismanaged Star Wars down the toilet and pissed fans away so they are dragging Tron back out for a way too late 3rd film. There were rumors that Disney was going to build a Star Wars, Speederbike version of the Tron coaster several years ago for their US parks. In fact Disney rethemed Test Track to its current VR theme to test out effects for the original Tron coaster.
  5. Towerof Terror was a TV movie on Disney channel so it has some excuse. Country Bears was actually released in theaters.
  6. One theory I heard is that Disney used Splash Mt to salvage and rehab an otherwise unusable IP. The attraction was a way to repackage and save the Song of the South IP without the core film which become unreleasable due to politics and widespread misconceptions about the film.
  7. Disney made a sequel to Tron back in 2009 which is when the first coaster was built. The coaster is themed to the second movie. They had a 3rd film planned but abandoned it in favor of new Star Wars films after purchasing Lucasfilm. But then Disney ran the Star Wars brand into the ground though mismanagement. So now after over a decade Disney is planning on making a 3rd Tron film. Moreover, to make the Tron ride fit in Tomorrowland, they have reverted it away from the cool 50's retro style back to its original boring plain white 70's style. But its done halfassed so the land is in a bizarre limbo between 50's and 70's now. Disney is simply a mess.
  8. Ugg, this is why I have lost all desire to visit Disney parks again.
  9. Disney will never roll the prices back down because they know there are enough people willing to pay, its why Disney calls its customers pay pigs. Iger admiting the excessive prices is just subterfuge to shut down complaints about high prices. .
  10. Especially that in the film the lightcycles were gladiator vehicles that emitted light trail walls behind them to trap and kill the other racers. They could have painted the track to look like light trails trying to cut each other off.
  11. Surprised its not replacing the larger, original splash complex next to the 4 Winds slide tower. Hopefully they can get enough lifeguards to staff all those new kiddie slides.
  12. The parade was nice, but took money away from rides which he did trim quite a few out. The park never fully recovered from all of his ride removals leaving less to be cut by current management. I have to take your word about the fireworks as I make it a point to never go to parks on Saturdays. The street performers were bandaids for the extensive number of missing rides at the time. But at least he did try to bandaid the cuts as opposed to leaving them open and glaring. Not sure if I agree about the 3D delete from JL, I could see Shapiro doing that during the Covid scare and not bother reinstalling it after. Even before Shapiro, SF had a long history of letting complex themed rides fall apart, especially GADV.
  13. In which case it would be nice if they convert it into an observation tower like Knotts did.
  14. So would it be that the tower and cables remain in place? That the park simply doesn't bring out the paracutes from winter storage? Essentially just mothballing the ride for a possible future reopening?
  15. Big wigs mainly care about making the books look good, often more so than actually making a profit from operations. Sadly I think this new administration is using Shapiro's old playbook.
  16. I spent many hours on those climbing nets back as a kid. I recall only the right side net was open most of the time. Kids who were too small to ride GASM used to watch it drop from the open platfom at the top of the nets. Bigger kids used to climb on the punching bag things inside the cabin. Eventually the punching bags got pretty ratty and were removed.
  17. Sad news indeed. The park won't even seem like GADV without the parachutes.
  18. That sucks big time. GADV is becoming pretty unrecognizable from what it was in my childhood.
  19. I hope its not the end of the Parachutes! It is such a classic and unique ride, GADV's skyline would not look the same without it. Also is there any news about Zumanjaro? I never saw it ran all of last year and I visited the park many times.
  20. Really sad now since the Safari trucks are now all but kaput themselves. It would be nice if they tore down the old Safari truck station and put in a western themed ride, perhaps a wagon themed ride? Sadly that would be unlikely to happen anytime soon.
  21. Hopefully its just Sixflags PR talk to placate those predatory A holes.
  22. Today various DOTs were salting the roads, for a rain storm. It will also be above freezing overnight so no black ice either.
  23. An after a decade the park changes the back to Nitro to make another big deal just like with Medusa / Bizarro / Medusa.
  24. The complex in the upper left corner looks like Jurassic Park.
