29yrswithaGApass
Odds are there are certain things that make you hesitant to go on a certain ride or two. What are some of the things that concern you and may make you think twice about taking a spin? Please feel free to discuss your thoughts. warnerleroy
I chose other because for me, it's a 3 way tie to make a ride look scary- one, It has to be really high. I'm not afraid of heights, but one day they'll make a ride that will make me. Two- if it looks unsafe. I was always nervous that going on Chiller, I may be stuck at the top if the LIMs blew out, so I never went on it, a decision a regret especially to this day. And last but not least, the element of suprise. I'm not afraid of dark ride stunts, just the way they pop out at you when you least expect it. So anything I don't expect can make a ride scary for me. GAcoaster
I find boardwalk and carnival rides scarier than anything at any theme park simply because they all look unsafe due to their portable nature and the people who run them, even though they may be smaller and tamer rides. Railer
Ride Operators are the scariest thing for me. Human Error is the cause of a high percentage of ride accidents.
Great Adventurer
Gee, thanks a lot Railer! Speaking from the point of view of my mom (and myself, before I experienced the joy of coasters), Height was the scariest. My mom won't go on Nitro because of the restraints, and many would be in the speed category because of Kingda Ka. Mainly those three. 29yrswithaGApass
I think the only thing that makes me hesitate going on a ride is if it looks unsafe. I am o.k. with height, speed, spin, loops, etc. I probably would draw the line at bungee jumping though.
Railer
I have to agree with Harry on that one. I would never go on the Sky Coaster or Eruption. Any ride that only hold's you with Cables is not for me. Or any of those Extreme Attraction's that plop you on the end of a giant Propeller and spin you a couple of hundred feet in the air. No Thank's, I will pass.

The first time you ride, it delivers one of the most intense feelings that no roller coaster can come close to. The only thing that should scare you about skycoaster is the price. Great Adventurer
Indeed, Eric! If your name is any indication, I'd say you like those rides! I went on the propeller (skyscraper, it was called), sky coaster (twice), and the springshot at Morey's Piers. Although I didn't feel safe at first, Eric is right; they all are, especially sky coaster. I got stuck at the top, since the operators didn't properly adjust my rip cord (which you pull to release yourself), and I was brought back down safely. A flashing light and siren went off, alerting all the guests near the ride... I got quite a bit of attention from that! I'm still a bit scared of the skyscraper, but I would go on it again. 29yrswithaGApass
I don't have a problem riding Eruption, or Sky Scrapers (Turbo Force), or any of those types of rides. I have never been on Dare Devil Dive mostly because I can't find anyone who wants to go on it. I have no problem paying for a single but it just doesn't seem that it would be as much fun riding solo. Railer
Yes, I do ride the Skyride. I'm sure they are safe, but they are just not my thing. I quess that's why you are CABLESeric, and I am RAILer. I'll go on any Coaster you put in front of me. And I don't like paying an upcharge when I have to buy three passes a year (4 starting this year) for my Family. And I didn't mean to put words in your mouth Harry, I just thought you meant you didn't like going on stuff like that either, by your Bungee comment. How about this, opening day I'll see if you can get me on Dare Devil Dive, I have NEVER been on any ride like that.
29yrswithaGApass
^ I didn't take your post that way Railer, I was just adding some of my do's and don'ts to the topic. Dare Devil Dive in 2009? Sounds good!
CablesEric
^^I agree with you with not liking to pay up charges, but I can understand why the park does it. I am also in complete agreement with you regarding bungee jumping, rubber does not have the tensile strength of steel. ^Count me in!
GAcoaster
Personally, the scariest ride I can think of is erUPtion! To see the shaking of those towers and know that the one at CP had structural failure of a tower in the off season when it wasn't even running makes me think it's an accident waiting to happen! Great Adventurer
I want to go on ErUPtion, but you're scaring me now! And I'm up to going on Dare Devil Dive with anyone who wants to!
nbadude44
Honestly, it could be anything depending on the coaster, but I picked hight, speed, scary, and lack of restraints. Edited January 15, 2009 by nbadude44
