Chiller
Over the past several years many water attraction were closed and removed. Is Great Adventure Park going anti-water? Are they trying to keep all the water rides in Hurricane Harbor? If so what ride is next, or are they done removing? 2005- Koala Canyon closed 2006- Riptide was removed 2007- Movietown Water Effect was removed 2008- Michigan J. Frog's Fun Flotilla and Yosemite Sam's Flight School were removed, both rides sat in water. 2009- ?????????? Hope its nothing.
CoasterPrince
2009-Congo Rapids....to get replaced but what Cedar Point just got!!! I wish. I don't think they would remove our to water rides. Congo gets good ridership as dows Log Flume. Though I did see tons of cars going behind Congo last week while on Nitro. It may be for Fright Fest or 2011...I hope so.
The Master
There are alot of rides much more likely to be removed than Congo.

warnerleroy
JUST HAD A BRILLIANT IDEA! For 2009, entirely enclose the rapids and it's queue and turn it into a Looney Tunes themed raft ride, VERY similar to the boat ride at SFOT. The queue would be an"underwater tunnel to the loading station for rafts to go down the Mighty' Missispppisisiisi(purposely misspelled) where Yosemite Sam is sailing away with stolen money. Along the way, you see wanted posters, news articles, and even newsreels, along with favorite Looney Tunes cartoons. the ride would basically follow SFOT plot, but at the end, there would be a gun fight between Bugs and Yosemite in a whiskey factory, where gunshots have riddled the wholes of many barrels squirting rider and these will act as water falls. The ride would then end like SFOT's and guest would exit , not right by Nitro, but into another tunnel leading back to WB Studios(AKA Movietown) and leave you off where Batman's photo booth used to be. Unfortunately they'll take literally whatever money they can get, and do whatever the company wants, no matter how intrusive to the park experience (remember the Nokia ad in the middle of the Dark Knight preshow?). We're lucky we don't have a Geico banner hanging on one of our coaster's supports like most other parks do.

ThemeParkRider
That sounds like a great plan, but make sure there'd be enough room left for the Haunted Hayride.
acq10uaz
Mark Shapiro had no idea how run down it was. They are going to start getting it back, if not better, soon.
mrceagle
I Heard about this. Great news, I oved the length and layout but foung the attraction to be dull over all.
southview2
The length/layout is dull and unexciting. The area surrounding the ride needs to be worked on with more plants to feel like you IN the congo, maybe some new effects. Animlas popping out of the water and such. As you ride around its employee watch pots and trees and some dirt. VERY dull.
The Master
I like the Congo's layout and that it doesn't have waterfalls that dump water on you. However the park has let it become worn down and overgrown with poison ivy, it's time for a Congo rehab.
ThemeParkRider
Yikes! Glad I didn't go on this season after all! Don't need the poison ivy (I get enough of that at home, AKA my sister.)

ThemeParkRider
It may be fake. In that case, Six Flags is doing a better job than we think with the ride.

The Master
Is the poison ivy in the queue area or are you just seeing it on the banks of the "river"? Both and on the exit steps, they really should spary it to get rid of it. For you city folk poison ivy can quicky overgrow an area and choke out other plants and it produces a oil that will give you a nasty itchy rash that spreads if you scratch it. It likes to grow in the shade and the only way to get rid of it without getting a rash is to spray it with plant killer.
