Nitro#1
I will be posting a lot in this because I am new to this site and Great Adventure. What rides run in what kind of rain, and which ones close?
jdc12192
All run in rain except ka. But if it is raining and lightning Etc is a certain distance away then they close majority if not all rides.
SFGadv123
^Although indoor coasters or rides will operate in thunder and lightning I believe, am I right on that?
jdc12192
Yes but I forget what the rule is for skull mountain because there is track that goes outside.
Nitro#1
Even if the rain is heavy the rides will still run, except KK? I know the Skyride and Parachutes close in high winds. I also heard that Batman can be an issue in the rain because the grease from the lift chain can drip onto riders.
RC98
I remember a couple of years ago I was there during a brief downpour and Skull, Nitro, and Batman were all still running. Even SkyScreamer started going again as soon as the rain simply let up a little. However that was in 2012 so I don't know what (if anything) has changed since then. GAcoaster
They have four or five categories of rides (alpha, bravo, charlie, delta if I remember right) and depending on the type of storm and where it is in proximity to the park will trigger them closing all the rides in that category. SFGadv123
I know once it was pouring and I was gettimng on El Toro. They had to call someone and wait for them to give an ok to let them run the ride.
29yrswithaGApass
^ Everyone is on weather watch so if a worker sees lightning or hears thunder first, they are suppose to stop the ride and call it in.
Yankees99
Has anybody been to GA when it got flooded from a major down pour? Any pictures to go with that? Also, can we expect to see a special section regarding GA turning 40 in a month? Keep up the great work.
Yoshi
: Septmber 28th, 2012 on a Friday night Fright Fest. The only coaster open for a while was The Dark Knight and then Skull Mountain reopened a little later. Edited June 7, 2014 by Yoshi
RC98
^ Woah, some drainage issues they have there! Shouldn't they do something about that?
