29yrswithaGApass
ANSWER: False. The Route 537 overpass was erected during the day so those lights were not needed there. However, they were used at night when the park was being built. BONUS QUESTION: Where were the lights used?
PaulieGBones
Where they used for the construction of the stockade for the sky ride and Runaway Train?
29yrswithaGApass
^ ANSWER: As one of the largest structures in the park, the construction crews had to work into the night to get the Fort assembled for opening day. Even though they worked so hard to get the Fort complete, it was not ready on opening day. The structure and the surrounding "Rootin' Tootin' Rip Roarin'" section opened about a week later. PaulieGBones
That was a guess but a good guess..... I guess. It was a toss up between the stockade and the Best Of The West. I am glad I went with the stockade.
29yrswithaGApass
QUESTION #220: Prior to the construction of the Great Lake Grandstands in 1983 fireworks were presented in front of the Fort from docks in Lahaway Creek. Just prior to show time, the Runaway Train and the Skyride were both shut down for obvious safety reasons. What was unique about the way the Skyride was shut down? MarioSonic94
The ride was stopped while there were still cars in the cables.
pashacar
The Dream Street entrance was shut down before the Fort entrance was, so that all cars would end up at the Dream Street Station.
PaulieGBones
They left people in the cars on the Sky Ride? Just kidding. I think they closed the ride at both stations but ran the cars so they all came into the Dream St. side where they were taken off and put in the holding areas. ThemeParkRider
Wow!Even if the park was opened later now-a-days I assume that would be a safety hazard under today's standerds.
gafreak
I wish the park stayed open til midnight again, there were never anylines for rides that late, and GA at night is a much better time. The lights on all the rides really are cool, especially way back when the park had everything lit up!
