Dubai Parks & Resorts said Monday that its board of directors agreed to issue shares worth 1.67 billion dirhams ($454 million) to raise money for the Six Flags Dubai park. It said shareholders will vote on the deal in April. The new spending by Dubai Parks & Resorts, which already includes Bollywood and movie-themed parks, as well as a Legoland, will put the cost of the entire project in the sprawling desert southwest of the city at well over $3 billion. It's not clear what, if any role, Six Flags Entertainment Corp. of Grand Prairie, Texas, will have in running the new park. I have wonder what La Ronde would have been called if it did; either Six Flags La Ronde, Six Flags [Over] Canada, or Six Flags Québec. I wonder what the Great Adventure section will include. Scratching my head on this one. It makes no sense to me to name the sections after other parks. Even if they include clones of rides from the respective parks, how many visitors will have any frame of reference for what "Magic Mountain" means? Or for the difference between "Great Escape" and "Great America"? I feel it just reeks of the usual intellectual laziness we see from Six Flags. I believe that would need a licensing deal directly between Warner Bros and the park owner. I don't think that's something Six Flags can offer themselves. All of those names were good names used in the past (which is why they have endured). They are very generic and can pretty much encompass any theme they want. It's a great homage to the Six Flags parks history and a great way to create themes without having to go overboard spending on theme elements. (1/31/19) Screamscape sources have quietly sent in a little more information regarding the fate of Six Flags Dubai. According to what I’m told the funding for the park was was pulled back in October, which would match up with the reports that leaked to the local news sources a few weeks later that the entire Six Flags Dubai project was undergoing “a board-mandated review”. According to the latest gossip, this sudden stop the project underwent after construction has already been well under way on the site, followed by this latest development, has not been well received by the many ride companies and vendors involved with the project. I’m not going to list company names, but a good number of well known ride companies were involved and were building, or had already built, ride hardware for this park and were awaiting assembly as well as payment. From the sound of things, many were on board as they have previously been partners with Six Flags before at their US based theme parks… but Dubai Parks & Resorts was the true owner of Six Flags Dubai and in the end, was the one footing the bill for the project, which now looks to be leaving some big names in a very awkward position. Word is some of them have asked Six Flags to bring the projects to their US parks, but the cost to launch a whole new theme park ride collection into the chain all at once would be cost prohibitive. Maybe a ride or two perhaps could find their way to the US, but then again Six Flags is also involved with building parks in China right now as well as an alternative. Here's why, The dubai park looks really cool but Six Flags doesn't really have a lot of money they have over 20 parks to take care of and make sure nothing bad happens. They are struggling a lot even before the pandemic, Jim reid anderson bought a lot more parks which helped and hurt the company. Many of their stuff cost a lot to build along with lower attendance in some parks. If you look at the dubai park its expensive at 707 million dollars to build, that's a lot. And Six Flags isn't ready to go international they have way to many problems. and with Falcons Flight i dont think its gonna happen nothing more bigger has been at that height, the cost of building it will be a ton and it going through that tunnel isn't probably gonna happen its pretty obvious its Six Flags, For me this is a bad idea focus on your parks and sell the ones with low attendance and trash rides.
