GAcoaster
Our wish for Day 6-- Rejuvenate Congo Rapids and add new elements. Congo Rapids is one of the only water rides left in the park when we used to have four. It needs some updating and some new elements to make it wetter and better!
GAcoaster
(Roaring) Cong Rapids is only one of two water rides left in the park and it has seen better days. I think they should restore the original name, add some geysers and other effects that can get people wet again. It could be a really fun ride again with some TLC.
Medusa42
SFGAm just spent more than $1 million on Roaring Rapids so it can stay in the park another 20 years. No new elements were added though.
GAcoaster
I'm sure trough maintenance and pump replacements easily cost that much, but it's needed work on any rapids ride.
29yrswithaGApass
Ah, the good old days!
GAcoaster
The thing is they had to "tame" the rapids down over the years after several other parks had accidents, but that should just mean they can add more waterfalls and geysers to make up for the lack of opportunities to get wet. Plus, those kinds of things can be turned on for hot days and turned off for cooler ones.
29yrswithaGApass
I think the majority of the incidences involved boats bumping together and getting hooked on each other which they resolved by spacing them further apart. The boats were also getting caught on the rocks which they fixed by putting in the wooden walls to keep them in the river trough. If anything, the rougher waters and waterfall caused people to undo their seatbelts and move about the boat to avoid the water.

Nothing that putting back the "You Ride Hard and Come Out Wet!" sign couldn't fix!

It made the ride much more enjoyable since most people don’t want to get completely soaked in 70 degree weather.
jollyroger
Honestly most people would rather get slightly wet than soaked at a dry park, that's why I like Hershey's Coal Cracker, I know I am never going to get soaked on it.
