  1. The log flume is running today. Green Lantern's third train is still below the maintenance building. I don't think we will see it running anytime soon. The park really struck me as worn down. There were weeds everywhere. The trains were in pretty bad shape too. On Ka, I could move my harness a good inch left and right. On El Toro, there was a screw sticking out which nearly cut my leg. I didn't get to try the SORA, maybe next time.
  2. I'm planning to ride this tomorrow! I heard season passholders get to ride this at opening when everyone else can at 11... Is this true?
  3. Is the zip line still being built? Or was that just a rumor?
  4. As long as its running by memorial day, I think it is okay. Opening the first day of the season would obviously be great, but with the unpredictable winters I think it's hard for the park to open their new attractions opening day.
  5. Just got home from the park today! Rides: El Toro - Only running one train. In the morning they wouldn't dispatch until the train was mostly full...But because of the cold it wasn't running up to its usual craziness. The line got very long, very fast. Kingda Ka (2) - Kingda Ka ran two trains. The third was sitting in the other side of the station. The ride ops were fantastic and pushed the trains out like crazy! The ride was also very smooth, both in the front and the back of the train. Rolling Thunder Right - Only the right side was running, but with both trains. In the shed it looked like the other two trains were still not complete. The ride was running very well...Much better than last year. Bizarro - Bizarro was running alll three trains...But double stacking every single time! That being said they only had about ten riders per train. Runaway Mine Train - 2 trains...Fun as usual. The ride ops were also really good and didn't stack at all. But, the fort really could use some TLC. Skull Mtn. (2) - 2 trains. The building was very dark today. But the new ads completely ruin the experience. The station was absolutely covered in them. Again the ride ops here were fantastic, dispatching the train far before the previous one came back. Nitro (2) - 2 trains. Nitro was rattling a lot more than usual. The attendants were also very slow. There was no reason for stacking the trains every single ride. Batman had a lot of downtime throughout the day, and the Cable Cars never opened (due to wind).
  6. Those ads look terrible. Skull Mtn. needs some TLC!
  7. Update: Now I'm at 48 coasters, after riding the FunCoaster yesterday.
  8. Had an awesome day at the park today!! My full trip report is on TPR.
  9. I'm surprised it hasn't been mentioned over here yet, but according to someone on TPR the audio was removed from Bizarro, and an additional 2 seats were added to the back row again. Does anyone have pictures?
  10. Did Nitro have 3 trains? Or was it like last year where it ran with 2 for the first couple weeks?
  11. I think the water park should be included with the amusement park admission, but you still should be able to get a water park only ticket.
  12. This blog is the best: rollercoastersrock.tumblr.com
  13. Well according to RCDB and The Funplex's website, the Mount Laurel location will be getting a SBF Visa Group spinning coaster. Apparently it is already being built according to reports I have been getting. I am very interested to see how this turns out.... Especially since it is less then 15 minutes from where I live.
  14. Morey's rides being closed. I was down for a church retreat and The Great White was taunting me right across from the hotel the whole weekend.
  15. Has anyone else noticed Kingda Ka's 4th train has been rebuilt? Last Sunday they had two running, one sitting in the other side of the station, and one built (almost all the way) sitting out on the transfer.
  16. I finally got my Road Runner Railway credit today.....I really do feel pathetic.
  17. El Toro #1!!! Nitro > Bizarro, in my opinion....
  18. I'm not sure, but I don't think they were using it.
  19. Part Two: Elitch Gardens Elitch Gardens had a ton of potential. They had a few really cool rides but the park was not very clean, and the operations were TERRIBLE. On Sidewinder, the operators were more interested with talking about their favorite bars in Denver then sending the trains. We sat there for a few minutes after they checked all of the restraints while they talked. (That crew was getting 5-7 minute dispatches.) At Half Pipe, I witnessed a ride operator flip a guest the finger, because they were being rude. Then, on Mind Eraser, my harness did not lock. I told the attendant who was checking how it wasn't locked, and I slowed him the only thing keeping it down was the seat belt. All he did was walk away to go dispatch the train. SERIOUSLY?!?! So, I panicked and started yelling and waving out my arms. Thank god a different attendant saw it and helped me. Ride Opinions: -The Mind Eraser- Coaster #42- Ouch. Out of the three SLC's I've been on (This, SFA's, SFNE's) Elitch Gardens was by far the worst. Terrible headbanging. The train shuffled and rattled like crazy. Just terrible. Oh, and this is the first SLC i've been on that's running two trains. -Halfpipe- Coaster #43- While half pipe wasn't smooth at all, it was still a blast! It was fast, and we spun a lot! -Sidewinder- Coaster #44- My favorite coaster of the trip! Sidewinder was just fun. There's tons of airtime, the backwards launch was unique, and there was only a two cycle wait! I wish Great Adventure still has Lightning Loops! -Twister 2- Coaster #45- When weeing one hour was posted for queue time, we almost didn't ride. Luckily, that sign was wrong, and the ride was only a one train wait. The ride wasn't too rough, but then again it was pretty dull. There was no airtime and the drops were not steep. -Boomerang- Coaster #46- We rode in the front row, and it wasreally exciting. There was no headbanging like on Flashback in Massachusetts. Wish this stand was open! View of Denver from observation tower. Park of tower. Sorry about my finger. Mind Eraser and an upcharge slingshot. They weren't unloading everybody after each cyle. One group told me they were on three cycles before they could get off. We were only on for one.
  20. Part One: Lagoon Amusement Park, Utah Lagoon really surprised me. They had a great selection of family rides and the park was clean and well kept. Most of the rides looked like they had recently been repainted. Ride operations were stellar at Lagoon. On the rides with two trains running (Roller Coaster and Bombora) there was absolutely no stacking. I don't think I saw a train take more then a minute to be unloaded and reloaded all day. On the rides with single cars (Jet Star 2, Wild Mouse, the Spider) cars were going out as fast as the system would allow them to. Lines were no longer then 20 minutes all day. Ride Opinions: -Bombora- Coaster #34- Bombora is a great family ride. Although it was short, it was smooth and fun. Bombora really reminded me of an outdoor Skull Mountain. -The Bat- Coaster #35- Ouch Ouch Ouch. How could such a little ride be so rough? I got headbanging around every turn, after every drop, and even the turn after the brakes into the station. -Jet Star 2- Coaster #36- What a fun little coaster!! Seriously, Jet Star 2 was a blast. It was smooth and very forceful. I do wish you could sit alone, because it did get a little uncomfortable when the person in front of you was bigger then you are. -The Roller Coaster- Coaster #37- The retracked ares of this ride were very smooth and delivered airtime. The second half though, which was not retracked, was pretty rough. The operators were fantastic. The second train was always a good portion of the way up the lift when the first train hit the brakes. -Wild Mouse- Coaster #38- Nothing special. The top switchbacks were not braked, but the rest of the ride was braked too much. -The Spider- Coaster #39- I really liked The Spider, my first spinning roller coaster. -Colossus- Coaster #40- I wasn't expecting Colossus to be near as forceful or fun as it was. The trains were very comfortable too. Gotta love lap bars only! -Wicked- Coaster #41- Wicked is a weird ride. It is a Zierer Tower Lauched coaster that uses little 8 person trains (2 rows of 4 people). The launch was surprisingly zippy and the top hat was awesome. Unfortunately, the lap bar tightened during the ride which was pretty uncomfortable. The train also shuffled ALOT going through the banked turns, expecially the ones after the MCBR. I wish I could have rode it again later, but it soon broke after we rode it. Pictures: Sorry for the size. Somehow they all got messed up on my phone. Also, there's not too many, because when we were at Lagoon, the temperature was 102 degrees. I really didn't feel like stopping to take pictures too much. Bombora's many curves The Rocket is now my favorite drop tower. I really regret not riding Scream at SFNE, which is the same type of ride as this. \ Lagoon-a-beach was filled to capacity the day of our visit, The slides all had half an hour waits. Hooray for Asian themed rides! ELITCH GARDENS COMING UP NEXT
  21. After riding Sidwinder at Elitch Gardens the other day, I wish Great Adventure still had Lightning Loops. PTR from Elitch Gardens and Lagoon coming soon!
