  1. I don't get the connection between Africa and the Old West.
  2. Testing paint colors for the bottom of the Garden of Marvals pond?
  3. I have nothing against heights or tall rides, when they are not so hedeously ugly. Parachuter's Perch wasn't too bad when it was white, but now it's awful. The other rides are cheap looking towers that look like construction cranes, SkyScreamer painted a rediculous aray of clashing colors and DDD gray and ugly, just like a construction crane. If they would paint the rides complimenting colors and give them coherent themes, they would not be so bad, but they go out of their way to make them obnoxious and ugly.
  4. I totally agree. It's an ugly eyesore made ten times worse by painting it loud, obnoxious colors. Hopefully they'll follow the other parks and demolish it.
  5. Exactly!! The Showcase Theatre baracaded, the Ski Stadium sitting dormant. It's disgraceful. Adults need something to do at the park. They like to watch shows, enjoy the park, and eat. There are no shows, the park is nothing but cement with loud music blaring, and the food is just fast food crap. Adults hate Six Flags, and they need to do something about it.
  6. Wasn't it those machines you put money in that would vibrate and massage your feet?
  7. No surprise to anyone that knows me - I hate this ugly eyesore. Another gray metal monstrocity that looks like a construction crane, like Sky Screamer, except they painted Sky Screamer a bunch of clashing colors. Right next to the big gray warehouse DDD just adds to the industrial park atmosphere and ruins the theme park atmosphere. Not to mention you have to pay extra to ride it and it's probably one of the cheapest things built in the park.
  8. It would be great. But they're too lazy and cheap. They should also change the name back to Yum Yum Palace. Character Cafe is boring.
  9. Changing the parks from "Theme Parks" to "Thrill Parks". They destroyed the parks, making them unpleasant for adults and unsuitable for children.
  10. Did they just trash it? It seems like moving it would not be that difficult. It's a shame to lose the Flying Wave and the Station Bench to get that ugly metal tower.
  11. They are making the same mistake with Sky Screamer. It is only a gimmick. It is not cutting edge or state of the art. It is a cheap carnival ride whose gimmick is that it is tall. It has no theming, will not enhance the park experience, and will be nothing but an eyesore in a very short time. Buying poor quality just to have the bragging rights of being first or having the most does not drive attendance. This is the miscalculation Six Flags makes over and over again. It's actually hurting them, not helping.
  12. ^^ This is why I think it is NOT good. Six Flags too often buys cheap, gimmick rides that have no extended life, which makes them a wast of money from the start. Sending them to another park and trying to "trick" the public into thinking it's something new and great only creates disappointment when they finally get to experience it. They need to be more selective about what they buy. They could learn a lot from Busch Gardens. Busch does not add a new ride every year, but when they do add something it is good and lasts a long time. They research first, buy quality, and theme them well so they are enjoyed much more and for a longer time.
  13. I think it is a bad idea. If a ride is good people will be upset that it is taken out of their park and sent elsewhere. If a ride is not good then it should be scrapped and not tried to be pushed as a "new, exciting attraction" at another park.
  14. I can't believe somebody finally found this! I've been singing that thing to myself for 35 years. It's sucha great commercial, a catchy song, lots of shots of the park, and families having fun together. That's a theme park commercial!
  15. I wish they would get rid of the television monitor menu boards. They are completely inappropriate for an "Old West" building. Not to mention how annoying it is to have the menu constantly disappearing, being replaced by adds for things they do not even sell there. They should go back to the wooden menu boards.
  16. Take a look at Mach Tower at Busch Williamsburg, google it. It's heavily themed to match the surrounding atmosphere. The tower itself is blue, to blend with the sky, while the loading area and ride itself is german themed to match the area of the park. The name also fits that theme. The same with the new coaster, Verbolten. It is themed to the German Autoban, not a random superhero. It fits the theme of the park and most of it is hidden in the woods, making it exciting to ride and not overpowering the atmosphere of the park. A large portion is in a building and that building is behind trees and dug into a ditch to hide as much of it as possible. World class parks know how to add rides without destroying the atmosphere, actually adding to the theming and making the ride more exciting. Six Flags seems to go out of their way to destroy the atmosphere when they add a ride. It's not JUST the paint that makes Sky Screamer tacky. The structure itself is a cheap, carnival pole, not like the parachute tower or Mach Tower. And wether or not you ride it, you are forced to look at it. The rediculous ball on the top with "Six Flags" on it makes it even worse. Again, it is not necessary to see it in person or to ride it in order to see how awful it looks.
  17. It's not "thrilling", it's boring. It just goes around in circles. It doesn't even tilt like Flying Wave. How does it compliment the coaster collection? The argument that tacky and cheap are good business does not hold water. If it did Six Flags would never have gone bankrupt. Tacky and cheap are what keeps killing them. It doesn't cost any extra to use different color paint. The clashing colors on that thing add to the tackiness. Corporate has been wrong about what the GP wants for many years. They always keep thinking that theming, atmosphere, shows and unique food are not important. They think as long as they keep adding coasters and thrill rides people will flock to the parks, and they have been wrong over and over. They just never learn. And while the coaster collection may not be cheap, it is VERY tacky. Tacky themes, tacky colors, tacky locations.
  18. Is that an argument for being tacky and cheap? How many of those carnival rides are left? The best rides are still there; log flume, runaway train, big wheel. Those were not tacky and cheap, and that's what makes them so great. They shouldn't try so hard to be tacky and cheap. Even carnival rides can be themed and enhanced to not be tacky. Take the drop tower added to Busch Williamsburg for instance. It's heavily themed to add to the atmosphere and doesn't look cheap and tacky. When Six Flags adds a tower, like Sky Screamer, it looks cheap and tacky and lacks any theming or purpose. And what color-blind idiot chose those colors; dark red and blue material with white stars on a lime green, yellow, and orange pole? Simple things like choosing colors that compliment each other and their surroundings can make a big difference, but Six Flags goes for the tackiest possible look.
  19. Exactly! And it gets worse every year. Sky Screamer doesn't help.
  20. Seems like another year of nothing. Only a dolphin show and some music playing around the park. A bunch of empty theatres sitting dormant with no shows.
  21. AMEN!!! I don't think they intended to use the Lex Luthor theming, I think they just meant the same type of ride. I would much rather see the existing Ka tower utilized for such a thing instead of building yet another metal tower overpowering what little is left of the forrest.
  22. It's BAD if he really thinks they have a "Green Hornet" roller coaster. It's SAD if he really thinks the park "has always been a park split evenly between teens and families".
