  1. I never understood why parks started charging for parking. You wait in line at the toll booths to pay for parking, then as soon as you get out of your car you wait in line again to pay to get into the park. Why not just add the parking cost into the park ticket prices, so people do not have to wait in 2 lines to pay money before ever getting into the park. You could have a huge sign that says "Parking is free - Have A Great Day!" and people would feel they are getting something for free. They would also get into the park quicker to start spending more money, and you would not have to hire toll collectors.
  2. I really wish they could get the calliope back from the collector they sold it to.
  3. If I recall correctly, when the park first opened the current parking lot did not exist, except a small part of it by Kingda Ka. I believe when they built the current parking lot, they cleared all the trees. But I could be wrong.
  4. Before they add anything to the wagon, they need to paint it. The last time I saw it the paint was chipping off all over it. They should also paint it like it originally was, instead of the lazy man's way they've been doing it.
  5. They could have an amazing Christmas event. A Christmas tree lot, ice skating rink, Christmas shows...
  6. The parking lot is the first impression people get of the park, and GA gives an AWFUL first impression. They NEVER should have built rides in the parking lot. They also should not have cut down every tree in sight when they made it in the first place. At least in the early years when you parked in that big, empty slab of cement you saw only trees, with a slight glimpse of the skyride and ferris wheel. It was magical to walk into the forrest and discover the park inside. Now you pull in and see clear through the park. They should plant some trees throughout the parking lot so it's not so noticeable that the park has expanded into it. And yes, it's the only park I know that makes you walk so far without tram service. Not a nice welcome.
  7. I would hate to see them cut down the trees around the lake. It's the only area left they haven't destroyed. It would really ruin the log flume to develope underneath it, what makes it so great is that it travels through the woods, the only small amount of woods left in the park.
  8. ^So if they haven't been replaced, there's no new people making new decisions and taking the parks in a new direction.
  9. I'm not fully on board with the LED lighting. I liked the original wheel lights ( when they all worked ). There's something a little tacky about the LED lights, especially when programmed to put on shows. I see the lighting kind of the same way I see the music, it doesn't need to be modern and updated, just maintained.
  10. Are you sure? I know the CEO keeps changing, but I believe a lot of the designers and managers have stuck around, and it appears that they just keep making the same silly mistakes.
  11. The park needs unique, themed restaurants to enhance the park experience ( like Best of the West ). I wouldn't mind paying high prices for something special, or fun. But who wants to pay high prices for Papa John's and Johnny Rockets, food you can get elsewhere and inappropriately themed for the park. Someone is Hell-bent on giving the parks the atmosphere of a boardwalk amusement pier; a hodgepodge mess of unrelated shops, rides, and restaurants with loud music and a tacky atmosphere. I like amusement piers, but if I want to go to one I will, Great Adventure should be so much more.
  12. The fact that Great Adventure's main priority is coasters is their problem. There is nothing there for older guests. Adults and seniors love animals and these are people Six Flags has ignored and suffered greatly because of it. The Safari is great, but it's a separate park. You can not spend an entire day there and after going through it there is nothing for an adult to do.
  13. Whoever came up with the idea for neon polo shirts should be shot. They're rediculous. Where in the old west did people wear neon shirts? Or in Clonial America? Or ANYWHERE for that matter. They are just plain ugly and another stupid mistake that ruins the park atmosphere. They really need to replace the morons that make all these stupid decisions.
  14. All theme parks have corporate sponsorship. Apparently it's a necessity. However, other parks manage to do it subtley: A small sign that says "Kodak picture spot", or a restaurant that is themed to the park with a small sign that says "Proudly serving Starbucks Coffee". Six Flags goes overboard and completely destroys the parks' atmospheres.
  15. I'm glad to see I'm not alone on this. Loud pop music blaring throughout the park is comletely inappropriate. I must respectfully disagree with Chiller, this is not what you should hear when you enter a park. You should hear pleasant background music, barely noticeable, not loud pop music. The music should also match the theming. Unfortunately, Six Flags has abandoned theming altogether, so it's hard to match music to themes that do not exist. They need to bring back theming, music included. "Frontier Adventures" should have frontier music, not pop country. All the music needs to be at half the level they have been playing it. The obnoxiuos Six Flags Radio needs to go.
  16. What would REALLY be nice is if they would stop promoting brands altogether, or at the very least doing it in a subtle way like other parks.
  17. Exactly. How many people can go to Abu Dhabi to ride a roller coaster?
  18. I know they meant well with those yellow metal meet and greet structures, having an identifiable place where everyone could easily find the characters, but they really are obtrusive and misplaced. They have them in all the parks, in places they just do not fit, like in front of the store at GA and in the Golden Kingdom. Bright yellow metal poles look way out of place in the western areas at other parks also. They don't really seem to help a whole lot either. Every time I pass one there are 2 characters talking to each other because noone wants to see them. They have too many comic book characters and too few cartoon characters. Children do not want to see superheros, and teens and adults that like superheros do not want to meet and greet them.
  19. If "Thrill Parks" were so great, they wouldn't have gone bankrupt. The successful parks are the theme parks, the parks with something for everyone. A park needs to appeal to all demographics to be successful, and Six Flags refuses to accept this. They insist, all evidence to the contrary, that they will be successful if they just keep adding coasters, loud music, superheros, fast food chains, and everything else to appease teenagers and turn off adults. They will just keep failing as long as they do not learn from their mistakes.
  20. I don't understand why they keep putting different rides in each park while giving them the same name. They're different rides, in different parks-give them different names. Here's an idea, give them a name and theme that actually fits each park. What a concept.
  21. Where exactly was SFFT voted the best shows? Theme Park Insider and Amusement Today both named Dollywood with that honor. A park that is out in the middle of nowhere and yet does a great business, and happens to be very show-heavy. A coincidence? I think not.
  22. How do you figure rides bring in money and shows do not. This is the mindset of Six Flags that has to change. They have been living by that moto for many years and it has not worked. What brings in money is a well-rounded park which offers something for everyone, and that includes shows.
