  1. I'm a little nervous about the "re-imagining the look and feel". I hope the new owners are not planning on destroying the park's atmosphere. I was there last week and they already are blaring pop music throughout the park like Six Flags, it really kills the atmosphere of old Europe. It's a great theme park and it will be a real shame if they ruin it. It's so successful, popular, and respected I can't imagine why they feel the need to "re-imagine" it. I'm just holding my breath and keeping my fingers crossed that they don't do anything stupid.
  2. The creepy old man needs to go, forever! He is a symbol for exactly what is wrong with the company. Tackiness. He appeals to only one demographic, which wouldn't be so bad if he did not completely deter everyone else. The company keeps saying they realize he is bad for their image, but they keep using him because he attracts teenagers, which they also keep saying they realize is not where they need help.
  3. Exactly. Adding a stunt show would do nothing to attract more people to the park, it would just give the people who already go there a show they may like, but even they would not watch them often because they are really there for the thrill rides. Shows are what adults and seniors go to a park for, and that is why they do not go to Six Flags, because there are no shows for them, only for young people.
  4. They can't keep using money as an excuse forever. It takes money to do everything they've done, they just have not used the money wisely ( Bizarro ). Instead of giving every ride a separate, non-cohesive theme ( which does cost money ), use the same amount of money to theme all the rides to go together.
  5. How about putting an indoor coaster where the stunt show arena is, if it's just going to sit dormant anyway? But please, no more big gray warehouses. That's neither "Amusement Park" or "Theme Park", it's "Industrial Park". No more rides in the parking lot! Take out Superman and plant some trees there, get back some distinction between the parking lot and the park itself.
  6. It's a HUGE difference, and key to whether they succeed or fail. Does anyone know who the current owners are? The bankruptcy reporting all says "junior noteholders", but does anyone know who they are or anything about them?
  7. They need to start theming their coasters to blend with the parks and not totally turn off adults. People will ride coasters regardless of what name or theme they have, if they are good. You can have a great coaster with a great theme that blends with it's surroundings instead of a flouresent colored monstrocity that clashes with everything around it. Coasters are giant metal structures, it is not necessary to paint them load obnoxious colors to be noticed. Take a lesson from Busch. They have great coasters that blend with the atmosphere. Riding the coasters is exciting because they add to the total experience, and since they blend with the atmosphere they do not ruin the park and turn off people who do not ride them. This is why Busch parks appeal to all age groups, from small children to senior citizens, and why the parks are so successful. As long as Six Flags continues to go the "Thrill Park" route instead of "Theme Park", making everything superhero themed and painting everything loud obnoxious colors, they will continue to only attract teenagers and will never be successful.
  8. Jersey Devil would be a great theme for a ride at Great Adventure. Unfortunately, it wouldn't really fit in the "Boardwalk" section in the parking lot. It should be a ride in the woods.
  9. I think you are underestimating the public to think they do not care about theming. Only the teenagers don't care. The lack of theming and poor atmosphere is one of the main reasons adults do not like Six Flags, and one of the main problems that led to their downfall. It costs just as much money to make a superhero theme as it would to make a theme that actually fits. Teenagers do not care what the theme is as long as it is a good ride, so why make everything superhero themed, a theme that only appeals to teenagers and further alienates adults?
  10. Thank you!!! Could we please try something original and unique to Great Adventure, Not a comic book character or the name of a coaster at another park? And not some obnoxious flourescent color that clashes with everything else around it.
  11. I don't think so. for a 14 year old who has probably only been to Dorney Park, that's probably what he thinks.
  12. What they did recently was add a lot of kiddie rides, which is good, but without something for the adults and seniors to enjoy they will not bring the kids to ride them. I think they have to do more than just change CEOs, that doesn't ever seem to change the parks' direction. They need to change the designers and people that decide what gets put in the parks and where. I don't think the CEO gets too involved in those details.
  13. Look how great it was entering a "forrest". It's so sad to see what they've done, cutting down all the trees, and apparently for no good reason.
  14. I always thought Great Adventure should have a Jersey Devil coaster. That's what they should have called Nitro.
  15. Actually I thought it was a really boring ride. It looks a lot more impressive than it is. You just spin around in circles. The only impressive thing was how high you do it. You get a much better view from the parachutes, and can actually focus on the view without trying to see while spinning in circles.
  16. "ols"?! I better go to bed, I must be tired.
  17. I'm so ols I can't even spell anymore, Dooly?!
  18. I can't believe it's been 25 years! I'm OLD!! How old is Dooly?! I've only been to the park once. It was a beautiful park, in the woods like GA used to be. Hopefully they have not cut down all the trees there.
  19. The last thing they need is another coaster in the parking lot. It's just plain tacky.
  20. A "Typhoon" theme would at least make sense in the "Boardwalk" section. I wouldn't hold my breath, though. Remember all the speculating about all the western themes Medusa could be changed to, and we got "Bizarro". "Green Lantern" would be more likely. Another comic book character that doesn't fit anywhere in the park.
  21. I thought the idea was to get away from thrills and coasters and focus on families. Sounds like more of the old mistakes that led to bankruptcy.
  22. It's amazing how much money parks make from these machines. A lot of people collect them. It's an easy way to make money and is a completely voluntary expenditure, unlike increasing food or admission prices. I'm not sure I care for the unattractive machines scattered all over the park, however. There are certain places, such as the games area, where they are not that obtrusive. However, looking at those pictures, some of them have been placed in awkward locations.
  23. GASM is the biggest eyesore in the park, and not a good coaster at all. It's hardly worth keeping just because it used to be the world's tallest and fastest. Skull Mountain is a VERY mediocre coaster in a rediculous looking square building poorly disguised as a mountain. TDK is a VERY mediocre coaster in another ugly building. SUF is a mediocre coaster that is not worth the long wait, and a huge eyesore in the parking lot. Batman the Ride is an awful suspended coaster. Kingda Ka is actually mediocre also, and a huge eyesore. You wait way too long just to go up one side and down the other. They wasted all that momentum just gliding back to the station. They could have actually attached a coaster. The only thing I will say for it is it has very appropriate theming.
