  1. The obvious answer to this is Pokemon, but it's technically incorrect because Universal owns the license to all Nintendo IP as far as ride theming is concerned. This is a surprising difficult question to answer, when you take into consideration overseas licensing agreements. Cartoon Network's characters are licensed to a water park in Thailand owned by Amazon Falls Company Limited. I doubt the agreement is a worldwide exclusive, as Turner wouldn't be so dumb as to leave that much money on the table. Sega, who owns Sonic, seems content to open their own indoor theme parks and not actually partner with anyone or to license the characters as one-off to places like Alton Towers in the UK (which has since re-themed). Disney and Universal have gobbled up so much of the market for licensing, it really is a difficult question. So little theme-able entertainment is independent of NBCUniversal and Disney these days aside from Sega and CN, the only thing really left is HBO's lineup of mostly adult-geared entertainment and they don't seem interested in theme parks and thrill rides (though the Lord knows, they're milking every last dime out of Game of Thrones, so who knows.) That said, I haven't played any video games since roughly 1999 and it was Final Fantasy (not a bad idea) on the PlayStation 1 so there maybe a franchise out there I'm totally overlooking.
  2. Someone's been reading/watching up on H.H. Holmes it looks like. We're toying with going out there this weekend. I'll have to keep an eye out for those.
  3. The past couple of weekends have left me with the impression that they are understaffed this year and have to shift their scare actors about. Thus, on some nights there are long stretches of trails with zero interaction while other trails are jam-packed. I did Wicked Woods twice, the first time was a bit of a let down due to time spent zigzagging through plywood structures clearly meant to have someone behind them, which Cell Block 6 was chock full of scares. The next weekend, it was the opposite.
  4. Jesus, I wouldn't want to touch that mess with the whales. I can't imagine any US publicly traded company touching that park with a ten foot pool. Parques Reunidos seems not to have any concerns about dealing with the whole Blackfish thing as they already run zoos and animal parks all over the place including the Miami Seaquarium.
  5. I'd love to see a dive coaster, but I'll settle for a Raptor.
  6. Oh God, Ghoul Repellent whistles. My head is hurting just thinking about them.
  7. Disney really should thank James Gunn for making the GOTG movies such massive successes. The Guardians aren't subject to the Marvel-Universal licensing agreement that's keeping the Avengers stuck over at IOA.
  8. Which could mean they may be raising their NAV for a new capital campaign and buying spree in the future. (Crosses fingers.)
  9. Maybe it's me, but I find it slightly crass and perverse that you have to pay $10 not to have your kids terrorized. What a concept bit of emotional ransom. Seems like a failure of both parenting and corporate merchandising. If your kid is that terrified, leave them at home and skip the therapy bills later. Or, you know, charge $2-3 for a cheaper trinket (or give them a freaking sticker for free).
  10. Sundays are a better bet during Fright Fest if you're looking for shorter lines and to appreciate the ambiance.
  11. They'll open it, sure. In stages. The retail part of it will be a mess because they won't be able to lease out the anchor sites. Traffic getting there will be a mess because it's a mess already and they're doing zero to fix that. If it's open long enough, I'm sure you can ride those coasters. I personally have zero interest in this project other than to mock it's hideous exterior. (Not to sound harsh, everyone's interests and desires to visit may vary. This project has been a developer's nightmare and the fact that it didn't fold when Lehman went under is a testament to both perseverance and the perverse nature of American finance. But that's another discussion for another forum.)
  12. Along with an indoor ski hill, an NHL sized ice rink, a bowling alley, an IMAX 4D theater and an aquarium. (Like most people, I'm not holding my breath on this one.)
  13. I'll admit I haven't paid much attention to the prices of food nor the quality as I don't eat in the park that much and when I do, it's usually the pulled pork from Best of the West. I learned my lesson after getting absolute atrocities of cheeseburgers from the Yum Yum Cafe and a place on the Boardwalk.
  14. The Book of Faces is indicating light crowds and a less-than-half full parking lot right now. So if any of you lucky folks can make a run at it, it's a good time for it.
  15. I've parked in the preferred area, which isn't bad. I did a Chevy test drive in the area behind GL and Supes and it was terrible. If I'd been driving a Corvette or a Camaro, I would have been pissed.
  16. AND REPAVE THE PARKING LOT! Seriously, it's amazing what a little fresh asphalt can do.
  17. My personal experience is that Friday and Saturday nights are the most crowded but the best for ambiance (more people usually means better energy from the ghouls). Sundays are best for rides. Others may disagree.
  18. So the Facebook consensus was that the big delay getting into the park was caused by a car broken down in the right entry lane, that the crowd was largely families and peaked in the late afternoon before thinning out as the sun went down and night fully set in.
  19. I have stickers on the back of my card. No idea how they handle it with the app. I know when I pre-bought my maze pass online, it wasn't in anyway tied to my ID number.
  20. Never had a problem bringing one in. I use it as a backup for my phone and for my vapes before I quit smoking.
  21. I would replace it with a wheel with inside swing cars as well as stationary outer cars. Double the fun. (I've ridden the Wonder Wheel in Coney several times and I have yet to ride in a stationary car.)
  22. Though I did finish knitting my scarf for this winter and have started on my mittens, I'm definitely NOT ready for Christmas. Though that weird bonus season between FF and HINP is a pretty great time to ride Nitro multiple times.
  23. Not in a while. I remember them being good though. I did GA's last year and the year before, some of them multiple times. The quality varies greatly depending on the staffing levels and crowd size in my opinion. Your mileage my vary.
  24. Which inherently isn't a bad thing, as it keeps people in the park longer spending more money. Personally, I think they'd do well with a dinner theater set up, either an Americana review or a DC super hero show. They don't have to offer anything more than what's offered at the three big seated dining venues and they already have a license to serve beer and wine. Can't be any worse than the Pirates Dinner Adventure I went to in Orlando.
  25. So how many of the mazes did you actually do? Did you do last year? Did you do them all or are you merely basing your opinion on one maze done early in the FF season?
