  1. It's supposed to be in the 40s on both Thursday and Friday and a slight shift gives us mostly rain. And Jackson Twp is *NOT* showing snow for Sunday. Accuweather and Tristate are both saying low 40s and sun.
  2. Y'all are talking like it's a done deal. New park president ran SFNE. He knows how to deal with cold. Wait and see, wait and see.
  3. I need a whole new roof plus new soffets, fascia and flashing. At least the insurance company is paying for *some* of it.
  4. Well, the weekend of the 31st/1st is looking pretty nice, which means it will change to cold and snowy after I post this.
  5. Don't know about you folks, but my Spring Break was always around Easter. And we never had off for snow. Never. It had to be like 6 inches on the ground with more coming and deep cold to follow for us to be out for more than the odd day.
  6. Ahhh, Physics Day. The first time I ever went to Great Adventure ...
  7. I've stayed on-site twice and the real advantage was the transportation system. Then again, this was back in the day before it was always so overcrowded and when parents felt perfectly safe allowing a 12 year old and a 15 year old to just get on a bus and go where ever they pleased in the park as long as they were back by 6 for dinner.
  8. So set up a Paypal account to fund your membership. Deposit the monthly payment X 12.
  9. Yeah, but then there's no incentive to go Platinum or higher. If the average person is paying the basic $10 and change (because they didn't call and threaten to cancel), the $7.10 for a Gold membership is losing $3 of revenue per pass (except for those who have negotiated a lower rate). They want Gold Combo holders will automatically go for Platinum or higher just to retain their value.
  10. As opposed to the folks who just drive around the barriers to get to the preferred/handicap area? The parking lot is like Thunderdome some days. (My other favorite, the handicap placard holders who make their own spaces in the van accessible areas. Awesome.)
  11. That's what my Diamond Membership Welcome Email said ... "To use preferred parking, you must make a reservation no later than 5 AM on the day you want to visit." As for no-shows, I can see how they'd want to do that. It kinda sucks if you're a local and you decide to play hooky and head to the park for the day. Then again, what days are you really going to need it for? Weekends and Fright Fest?
  12. Sea Swings just looks like fun, especially since it's only thigh deep water. For scares, Imma go with Deno's Wonder Wheel swing cars.
  13. Probably Seaside, Wildwood, Knoebel's, Hershey and Dorney. We're trying to work a trip out to see friends in Ohio, so maybe King's Island (though we may meet halfway at Kennywood).
  14. And keep in mind, you have to reserve your preferred parking by 5 AM the day of your visit. Nice little detail they slipped in there *after* you sign up. (Which makes me think ... what's the possibility that they start expanding the Preferred Lot? And that it's the part of the parking lot with the solar panels?) Honestly, I was already paying $10 and change for my Gold Combo. Another $2 a month covers the cost of my sports bottle and that awesome free funnel cake, everything else really is a freebie and I'll probably end up skipping the line just for the Safari or whatever coast I just *have* to ride that day. I have Basic Dining which I may or may not bump up to Deluxe or whatever after my 35% discount kicks in. Or not. I haven't decided.
  15. Take heart. Long term Accuweather is saying 52 and overcast for opening day. I'll take 52 and overcast. It beats the hell out of whatever it is we're getting tonight.
  16. I can't, for any conceivable reason, see why anyone would go to the trouble of ditching a cheap season pass for a new membership, even for skipping the line and all of that. I can see buying a membership after the pass expires, but the whole "we'll give you company script instead of cash" just sounds like so much trash, especially since they don't give you change back on Bunny Bucks (which I'm not exactly sure is even legal). That said, something for the monthly-installment adverse members. You can link a membership to a PayPal account. So if you'd prefer to pay in one lump sum, fund the PayPal account with the amount you'd be paying for the whole year. You'll have to do a bit of math (especially if you're leaving the deposit on the passes), but that is one way to do it.
  17. I'm purely prognosticating at this point, but I don't see this making a huge impact on the Flash Pass lines. I simply don't think the interest in those levels is that high and I also don't think a limited number of people with one or two, spread out over the park, is going to make an appreciable difference on an average operating day. I do think it'll make one during Fright Fest or any other peak day though.
  18. Mine paid me $9.50, but it was in an aerospace fasteners factory. And my father worked there, so if I even tried to goof off, I got my butt whooped (yes, he was still whooping us at 18).
  19. I bought basic, so I'm going to see if they'll give me the discount on going premium. If not, oh well, maybe next year. I just can't get all worked up over this stuff.
  20. I'm planning on upgrading my membership but I'm not getting hysterical over it. I need to transfer my dining and all that crap, so maybe tomorrow if I have time to kill.

    Carousel

I wish they'd run it fast enough to properly use the slots on the carousel deck. Ever notice the slots running from the inner hub toward the outer edge? They used to run that sucker fast enough that centripetal force would push the horses out, hence the slot. Also, I wish we had a brass ring game. ETA: I see the "Flying Effect" (deck slots) was discussed about five years ago. Ahh, to have ridden this before the days of personal injury lawsuits ...
  22. I gotta say, the whole roll out of the memberships/conversion/upgrade has been so badly managed that I would actually embarrassed if I worked for them. Clearly no one there is familiar with proper financial tech project management. That said, God I hope it's warm on the 24th.
  23. I think it's be fun if they turned it into a spinner, but otherwise ... yeah.
  24. I really don't like Justice League. I think it's overhyped and really not that much fun and I hate shooter video games. I'd like it better if it was a just a souped-up dark ride. There, I said it. I feel better now.
