  1. Well, I've paid my mortgage for nothing then ...
  2. Read it on one of the Facebook groups that has some insiders and park rats, so take it with a grain of salt. No timetable for reopen, which kills me as I freaking love this ride. It really is a pretty unique ride. Yes. This was my exact fear with these new perks on the busy days. Wait 90 minutes here to get a pass for a ride with a 60 minutes line. They seriously need to get this sort of thing worked out. All reports I read from this weekend read like horror stories. I sincerely hope they can get the staffing levels up to where they need to be to get the park running smoothly. I know it's tough when the college kids aren't home and they foreign workers aren't here yet. I just fear they won't get the number of foreign workers they'd had in previous years. Also, I really hope someone is taking note of all of this and coming up with some plans for the future.
  3. Water ... park ... addition? Those words don't compute.
  4. Houdini is apparently getting a refurb. Hasn't opened yet.
  5. I'll pass on the magic tricks, but the rest would be cool.
  6. This is solely my opinion, but I've sat through way too many poorly produced, half-baked, bastardized versions of Broadway shows on cruise ships to ever voluntarily sit through a show that isn't actually on Broadway or featuring my brother's kids.
  7. Also, it's a non-coaster thrill ride. They need more of them.
  8. http://www.inparkmagazine.com/vekoma-acquisition/ Interesting article on the acquisition. Vekoma is to operate independently of the S&S parent. I wonder how long that will last, and what the long term impact on the industry will be. I can't imagine consolidation of manufacturers will be a long-term good.
  9. Of course they'd allow it provided they replant or protect a larger area. Hell, if they offer to pay for the sewer work running from along 537 clear through to Lakewood, Jackson would give them anything they'd want. This is Jackson Township, NJ. Everything is up for negotiation.
  10. Not nearly as uncomfortable as the Volare though. If I had to ride the two, I'd take the Thunderbolt, hand's down.
  11. Yes, I could not agree more! I know they have the light know at the main square but they need something grander.
  12. I wish they still had something like this. It's always a must-ride at Knoebel's, if just to see if there are any squirrels on the back turn.
  13. Also went to Coney, but mainly just rode Cyclone and started the season off with a last row ride. Had some drinks at Ruby's, which I love. We were one and done on Soaring Eagle as it's terrible and Tickler wasn't doing it for us. Thunderbolt was down when we got there and the line was stacked down to the Carosel almost every time we went by, so it was mainly a Nathan's-Ruby's-Cyclone trip for us. Three rides on Cyclone, a spin through the Spook-a-Rama and a turn on the swing cars. Not a bad day.
  14. Exactly. And when that wears thing/people's contracts run out, they'll have a big event to kill off those characters and start doing "alternate" heros i.e. Miles Morales Spider-Man, Jane Foster as Thor, Bucky as the new Cap, etc. etc. etc.
  15. I love HITP. It feels almost like a locals only event. Great time to get on the stuff that's too crowded during peak season and Fright Fest. It just sucked that it was soooooo cold at the end of the year.
  16. Yeah, but it's old IP. Interesting the characters they're featuring in the hype materials for it. Spidey, Black Panther and GOTG. Not the original Avengers line up at all, which isn't surprising considering Iron Man and Captain America are expected to get killed off in Infinity War.
  17. And that's the last time I doubt your weather acumen
  18. I can see how that may bother someone who's there to do all the coasters in one day. I'm a planner, so this works for me, and I'm there often enough that I rarely have any have-to-do rides. I even opt out of the safari after the third or fourth visit.
  19. I think the biggest stumbling block, other than dealing with transferring dining plans, will be the functionality of the skip-the-line passes. If people need to stand in line to get them, there is no point. Which could potentially lead to the park interpreting the relatively low number of vouchers picked up as the perk being unpopular and not the victim of people not wanting to stand in line for what they paid for. They must find an effective and efficient way to deal with this perk that doesn't include people standing in line for more than 10 minutes. It defeats the purpose otherwise.
  20. I really don't care about theming on most of these rides. For one thing, I'm a Marvel girl and really don't care for DC's characters (except Wonder Woman) and for another, I'm of the belief that theming should come second to ride quality. Nitro is a kick ass coaster. Change the paint job and the name and it's still a kick ass coaster.
  21. I don't think they get paid to hype, but I think they get fired if they blow the forecasts badly on the side of public danger (i.e. totally miss the call on an area getting dumped on and experiencing life-threatening conditions), which is why so many have taken to showing the different forecasting computer models. I also think there are only a few true meteorologists left in the business willing to put their neck on the line and put out their own forecast and analysis.
