  1. Shouldn't matter how long they've been a member, it's "per calendar year", so even if they got a bottle in November 2018, they're entitled to a bottle in April 2019. Also, the noticable increase in the amount of benches was nice to see. Now they need to start re-planting some trees.
  2. DC. Not Marvel. (Apologies for nit-picking.)
  3. Pretty much this. The average park goer in the area *may* be familiar with Dorney and have a vague notion that Cedar Point is lurking out there in Ohio. They most likely have never heard of Carowinds, and if they have, aren't familiar with their coaster line up.
  4. It's amazing to me that DC is moving in the exact opposite direction of Marvel in movies. Marvel, via the Disney buying Fox, has gotten all of their characters back into an extended, unified universe. DC is shooting movies like these outside of the DCEU. Well, I wish them the best of luck. I haven't enjoyed a Batman movie since Burton directed them; even the Nolan movies I found interesting but lacking in the sheer manic fun of the Burton years.
  5. 3. THERE'S MONEY IN THE BUDGET TO MAINTAIN RIDES.
  6. What the hell terrible weather app are you looking at? All the ones I've looked at are showing cloudy skies in the AM, no rain.
  7. Will also need a new theme. No DC IP at La Ronde.
  8. I usually defer to The Master on this, but as of this AM, Accuweather says it'll be partly cloudy but dry. That said, it could change in an hour or a day. I wouldn't even worry about it until the 4th.
  9. They'd be smart to get it open without the theme. A mirror maze features prominently in Jordan Peele's "Us" that's opening this weekend. Might be a good driver.
  10. I don't worry about the stockholders. They largely know they'd be damned lucky to get someone of that pedigree. They theming thing could conceivably make or break them, but it would be more on the candidate walking away over a disagreement on philosophy and not disapproval on the part of the stockholders/board. The small stock holders can't be assed to vote their proxies and generally are clueless about the larger mechanics of things and the institutional investors who hold the majority of the stock know they'd be damned lucky to get a CEO who can not only withstand the cultural firestorm that the captive orca issue brought on, but to have the company thrive under his leadership.
  11. One could make the argument that SIX *has* been adding to the parks ... it's just hasn't put a new major coaster in at Great Adventure.
  12. Reilly has done a fantastic job at SeaWorld in very strong headwinds. He would be a good get for SIX. Should be an interesting
  13. Such a hardship for you, Matt. Glad you had a good time.
  14. I haven't been to Disney since the pre-Fast Pass days, and reading all of this makes me not want to return.
  15. Vaping is the only thing that got me to quit smoking. Luckily, I had a lot less trouble quitting vaping.
  16. Apparently we're all members of the same Facebook group ...
  17. I'm hoping we don't have a repeat of last year - park opening weekend delayed a week by snow.
  18. That's just gross. I'm not one of those former smokers who turned into an anti-tobacco Nazi, but c'mon! And to stick the good games there? Is it clientele related?
  19. After the sub-zero temps in January, temps at the freezing mark really doesn't feel all that bad. Unless you forget your gloves.
  20. I've always read that you ride Dragster first thing if it's running because you may not get the chance otherwise. Can't say first-hand as I haven't been yet but that's what the consensus is on another forum.
  21. I will admit to feeling a bit itchy to go coaster riding soon. I think the relatively mild winter has that effect. It will be nice when American Dream is open and there are four coasters in-state and available all year 'round. Not that hopping a flight down to Florida or Texas is a bad idea either.
  22. 1. Cedar Point is literally on a point of land extending into Lake Erie, so this is factually incorrect. 2. What the hell would that have to do with a managerial change in direction? This comment doesn't even make any sense. That's disappointing, as nostalgia is a great marketing point and can be a cost effective way to boost ridership. But unless you can do an entire section of nothing but and offer it in more than one or two classic rides, it's a tough selling point. It's slightly disappointing that they didn't learn the lessons of their last corporate bankruptcy and seem flummoxed by how to handle the downturn in attendance in a cost-effective manner.
  23. Some internet weatherman is touting the European Model saying we're getting smacked with a blizzard next week. I wish I could find him so I can go throw things at him.
  24. They're also the most lucrative. I used to say if it keeps the passes cheap, so be it. But you get the feeling now that it's not going to keep the passes cheap or the parks upt to date but rather right into shareholder dividends.
