  1. No point in paying for advertising that isn't blatant. Subtlety is lost on the masses.
  2. $15/hr minimum doesn't go into effect until 2026 and it's a slow run-up to it. I wouldn't be surprised, by the time 2026 rolls around, if there isn't some sort of special status for seasonal employees though.
  3. Universal would have to be incredibly stupid or incredibly broke to give up the use of those Marvel characters for the very fact that they have an exclusive East of the Mississippi and it effectively blocks Disney from doing anything with the core Avengers IP. In perpetuity. I'll never understand why you guys put all this time and effort into elaborate park plans that will never, ever come to fruition. Then again, I don't understand fantasy sports either so perhaps it's a failure of imagination on my part.
  4. They could ship a new one in and have it up in under a week. That's the rumor that's been going around since fall, that a new Super Loop with a programmed ride cycle will go in at that pad.
  5. Exactly. Universal still has use of the X-Men, Hulk, Spidey and Fantastic Four East of the Mississippi though.
  6. Welcome to NJ. You need planning and permits to do just about anything. Kidding aside, the park is within the boundaries of Jackson Township, so it sits on incorporated land. Therefore, it's subject to Jackson's zoning ordinance. I believe they're in a special zone though.
  7. Awesome, a new food stand to not be open even though the park is at capacity. I really, really, really wish - moreso even than I wish for water coast - that the water park has better staffing levels this year and can keep more attractions open longer.
  8. Yeah, it's no joke. I found myself nearly fully standing the last time I took a backseat ride on the Mountain.
  9. I gotta say, as much as I think it will be a freaking nightmare to get there, I'm actually kinda excited about this opening.
  10. That was my understanding as well, based on some reading up on Disney and other companies' policies. "Face" characters (aka non-Furries) are super hard to cast because you have to look and sound the part (including height, weight, physique and voice) and you have to cast the whole "crew". If you cast Batman, you need Robin and Joker/Riddler/insert villain or you cast Wonder Woman instead of a villain. Superman is especially tough even with a padded suit. Oh, and on top of all of that, you have to find people with the patience of saints to put up with idiots all day long. It's cute when little kids wanna take a swing at Bats or Supes, but not so much when it's a grown adult who thinks they're being funny. Same thing with women who take on the Wondie role - every creeper is gonna want a hug and you get to deal with their personal hygiene issues without the filter of a mask, you get ogled all day long, other women make catty comments about the size of your thighs, and there's always that one grown manchild who want to grab your anatomy. Furries are way easier, though climbing in a plush suit in 90+ degree weather with 1000% humidity ain't easy, even if you have a cooling system on.
  11. I wouldn't be surprised if everyone is putting new park/land development plans on the backburner for a bit. The markets went a little insane at the end of 4Q, and depending on how the global markets (specifically China) react will probably indicate what goes forward and what waits.
  12. I hope it's a drier summer. Didn't make it over there at all.
  13. That, and people have actual, real things to worry about so they aren't letting the captive orca issue sting their conscience.
  14. Probably just temporary paving and will be completely redone when the project is finished .... (she said hopefully) ...
  15. Yeah, this is annoying as I'm doing Little Christmas (aka Epiphany) this weekend and still need to *ahem* buy presents and wrapping paper ...
  16. Why would this be directed at a US Senator? Cory Booker has very little to do with state laws, he works on and votes on national legislation. Try reaching out the to State Legislators who can actually do something about state law. Jackson is in LD12.
  17. Being the only dingus in the office on Christmas Eve ...
  18. Don't worry, it ain't happening. It was just another one of those pesky rumors. That aside, BGT filed for permits. Gwazi RMC Conversion. God Bless us everyone.
  19. Thing probably won't even be open unless they're in port and the weather is calm. (And don't worry, they'll roll that release into their Terms of Service/Passenger Contract which will completely release them from any responsibility for anything.)
  20. Yeah, no. That's like a 5-6 story drop and for another, running rail on the side of a ship at the waterline is a %^&$ing terrible idea both from the ship-design standpoint - as it's apt to be smashed against a dock or bulkhead anytime the ship in port - and from an operational standpoint - as you can't use it when the ship is in motion because the sea isn't flat, calm water. And then there's the issue with salt water getting in the mechanicals of a powered coaster...
  21. Actually, what's dumb is that all of these were Twitter memes that get reported as news, which drives the usual "War on Christmas" BS because of two things - people over the age of about 40 don't understand Twitter and people of certain political leanings have zero sense of humor and satire.
  22. Generally speaking, they won't if you don't tell them.
  23. When the media grabs ahold of running internet jokes like "Rudolph promotes bullying" or "Baby It's Cold Outside is Rapey" and turn it into a new story to drive traffic and people take seriously.
