Round #1 - The Most Popular Defunct Flat Rides

As we know, Great Adventure has seen a ton of flat rides added and removed over the years.

 

Hypothetically, let's imagine that all these rides were still in storage on Great Adventure property and available for future operation. Pick your favorite out of each ride grouping. We will have additional rounds of voting every few days to narrow down the listing and determine the most popular defunct flat rides.

I had to vote for the Super Sidewinder and Super Cat. They were two of my favorite Rides as a little Kid. On my Profile I have a pic. of me on the Sidewinder (check my Gallery for the bigger shot) Hopefully someday we will find a pic. of the Super Cat.

Scrambler and Tilt-A-Whirl for me as they are classic amusement rides in my opinion and can be enjoyed by epople of any age.

Are Freefall, Splash Waterfalls, Hydroflume and Adventure Rivers considered Flat Rides?

We count anything we can't classify as a coaster as a flat ride. It might be more appropriate to just call them "Non Coasters" but flat ride rolls off the tongue easier.

That makes sense. I was just bitter that I could not vote for Condor, Freefall trumps it.

The operative word there is "had".

 

The choices given were tough. I think, in a perfect world, we would all like to have all of them back.

 

BTW, what was Troika? I never ever heard of that ride.

Also referred to as "Wild Rider", the Troika was a Huss Troika that was located near the current site of The Dark Knight Coaster entrance for a couple of years in the mid 70s.

I remember it now. The name threw me off. I'd like a ride like that back too. All those kind of rides were fun.

In my opinion the park should bring back two or three of these rides every year.

Forget new coasters for a while, maintain the coasters they have then restore and/or repair the flats they have. I.E. Carousel, Fantasy Fling, Buccaneer.

If they add a few rides every year they'll knock the lines down again and keep guests happy all while not spending an exuberant amount of money on new coasters the park doesn't need.

One of the rides that I feel most strongly about on there is Pirate's Flight. I think it's exactly the sort of ride that the park needs a bunch more of to succeed in their current family-friendly strategy.
